tbh I can't see 'VinLAURiA' in the third one even at full size, let alone when scaled down, both in the grunge/error-styled one and the brutalist/Combine-font styled one
I used to try to do this with my name a lot. You've come a lot further with it than I ever could with it tho. I could make it read the same forward or backwards or upside down but could never
make it look cool. Sadly as I realized later, it serves no purpose if it can be read upside down if it can't be read right side up. It's a cool thing in concept, but really hard to execute without a
simple name or one that's already a palindrome. Out of the emblems, I like the original glyph, but I think the 2015 one could be great if you just "unitalicized" it.
it's time for me to make a paintover now >:)

it's crude but i think this is more kinda the look you were going for, some notes:
the sunlight shapes are are all super sharp and it makes it look like the hat and the face especially have these chiseled corners and it just gives an unnatural feeling, as a rule of thumb: core shadows are soft, cast shadows are sharp (or soft when the light source isn't a point light like the sun but rather the skylight); there's also an opportunity for a really strong highlight just as the form turns away from you like the hat for example and that's just how light behaves kinda;
usually if the light completely overrides the local color of the object, that means it's really bright or close to the object - the issue here is that we can't say the sun is bright cause the shadow area is also very light; as well as having a same value and hue on every material makes it look strange, so it's a good idea to mix the local and the light colors for different areas;
subsurface scattering is also super easy to implement and it gives a more natural look - just color pick the area around the terminator and boost up the saturation - note that this doesn't only apply to skin but can also be used on thin enough materials like hair, maybe even light bleeding through the brim of the hat (but i didn't do those here)
the front of the face is lit by a yellow colored light (it can totally be reflected sunlight off of an object up-close) and the left side is lit by a light blue one but i think what would make more sense is to have the skylight fill the shadow areas (apart from where the hat would completely obstruct it)
i left this for last because this could be intentional but i'll say it just in case - the neck feels way too thin here, i also made the ear a bit bigger
heres a gif comparison and while i screwed up the face a bit you can see that the hat and the mouse are really distinguishable from the background plus the light/form look more natural hopefully:

I haven't used acrylics in a long time and I decided to do a large portrait of my mom and sister who we recently lost. I really hate using acrylics but I really want to make something traditional that can be framed, does anyone have any tips for using acrylics? I think my biggest issue with them is they dry so dang fast it's almost impossible to get any semblense of smooth color blending, would adding an emulsifier stop them from drying quickly? I think they dry darker than they look when wet as well so I need to take that into account.
If oils weren't so expensive I'd just go get a set

My latest D&D character, Sir Wilstrom. The soul of an army general possessed his sword hundreds of years after his time.
I'm enjoying these more than I did a few months ago.

made this for a battle chef brigade fanart contest, only had one day to do it and i haven't drawn anything in a similiar style so it's a bit rough in certain areas, got 2nd place in the end

well deserved
sorry to hear that. hope you're doing alright.
all I can say paintwise is that I hate acrylics as well. if I was going to work on something of importance I think I would have to splash out on oils - they're a pain but the likelihood of a poor result using acrylics would drive me to it. oil paint is the nicest of paint media to work with I think, for portraiture especially.
looking at that sword he must have belonged to a magnificently flamboyant army of dandies

this spirit is said to be the guardian of all frogs. if it needs to see far away it can spit out its eyes to launch them.
Decided to created a poster for the film-project im currently working on. Already posted it in the 40k thread, but it seems appropriate to slap it here.

Decided to draw up a character sheet for an alien i've always doodled! Feels good to have a "canon" design for him, as well as a walk cycle I made to help me learn how to use After Effects.
I'm lucky my style lends itself well to vectors and vector animation, made learning animation way easier!
Oof, finally finished this one. Iffy hands and the plaid but I like it overall. Honestly I thought painting the stems and leaves would be tedious, but in the end the flowers took most of my time.

Recreated Jin-Roh poster with a Touhou character. It's funny because this character actually participated the War on the Moon and has natural red glowing eyes as ability to cause hallucination to people.

Been looking for reasons to draw more scenes and settings, giving my character somewhere to exist rather than sitting in a void. Combined that with some animation and music by @Dan The Man to make this!
Really happy with it, I find creating illustrations for a purpose makes me way more motivated than just creating an illustration as the final piece, going to look more into making visuals to go along with pieces of music like this.

Still kicking, I've been having a lot of fun putting in the work with drawing. Keeps my mind occupied.
