we were contemporaries for two or three years of this thread during which we both posted a lot of work lol. I've also done a few dumps this year. it was only recently you said you had never seen anything I'd ever done. never heard of somebody going senile in their twenties before!
dgg was the most awful person ever to disgrace this thread, worse than any of the boss fights we had in the CW heyday. we can only hope he's since snuffed it
I mentioned a couple of years ago I'd never seen your work, and I can still only recall the Link images lol
Kinda sucks so many people left, have been lurking this thread for a long time and loved see how people progressed.

Hope animations are ok to post here, animation thread is kinda dead
I still lurk the thread daily, I just didn't log in for months for some reason.
Also This animation is really cute. Do you have a place you post similar stuff?
Some robot things i've been meaning to finish. I've been drawing/painting like crazy the past six months between working in real life. Does anyone have any tips on where to post art that isn't portfolio stuff?

I'm loving the Conté charcoal sticks I bought!
Done a few weeks back, been using /r/redditgetsdrawn/ for some reference material.
That animation is nice!
I used to post some animation and artwork here awhile ago, but now I just lurk. Also I never saw the point of an animation thread. Making animation takes time so a thread wouldn't be very active.
Might as well post some art stuff I guess.

Character model sheet for an animation I'll get around to finishing.

Some cars. Beep beep.
I do have an instagram and a tumblr (although I hardly use tumblr anymore), but I tend try out a lot of different things so it's not very similar to this animation :p

Tumblr is a total crapshoot in terms of visibility, a post can easily snowball to tons of views but even then it doesn't necessarily transfer to your other work at all.
I just use Deviantart cause I can't be bothered to learn a new site and just don't really care anymore.

I like to make weird psychedelic remixes of my friends art. I made these extra-dimensional things

Thinking of making a few more of these guys as a sort of group of adventurers.
watched a recent vid where it said you should avoid using a soft brush in photoshop and only use Hard brush and the Smudge tool.
Been using a combination of both methods, but good fucking lord its way more superior using the hard-brush/smudge combo only.
It's always worth watching tutorial videos, I find every time I do I learn something thats super helpful yet for some reason I barely ever do it
Would people be interested if I set up an art video megathread for things like art documentaries and tutorials? Been thinking about doing it for a while but threads seem pretty slow so I'm not sure how much it'd get used.
If you were to do that (which you totally should) then you should also include art books and shit like that, so its not just limited to videos (since there are a lot of good resources out there that aren't videos).
The Big Digital and Traditional Painting and Drawing Tutorial St..
yeah. I sorta have to start over and rewatch them every few months. Mostly to get my technique and workflow ironed out. Especially when my ADHD runs amok.
I've always avoided using the smudge tool, it just seems laggy and unresponsive at large canvas sizes. I'm interested in how you use it though. Was it a Sinix video by any chance? I know he uses it a lot but that's Painter rather than Photoshop I believe.
I personally use a square brush(as main brush) with opacity set to pen pressure so I can fade/blend things with a lighter touch. Then if I really want to render something I reduce the flow in increments so colours blend together.
Well the thing is that he uses Corel Painter. So the brush strokes "Blend" automatically.
Since i use photoshop.
I don't know wtf I'm doing:

I would have that on my wall.

painting monochrome is nice
I need to find some environment art masters so I can do master-studies. Because I still feel like I'm messing around.

You may be messing around but whatever you're doing is working because you're nailing the colours and atmosphere in these.
I watched an art video series by Shaddy Safadi that really helped me understand the painting process and I'm trying to apply his lessons. He recommended to paint with a bunch of art references by professionals at hand so you can learn from their techniques.
I've only done two of these now, but in general the advice and method of painting is making me appreciate art a lot more.
I find every time I do a drawing I try to work in something new, for example i'd love to see that image done on an overcast day with god rays shining over the building, would make for a good lighting experiment
