"Get a glass bed", they all raved. "PLA doesn't warp on it, it sticks super well!" they all ranted. *print starts warping and peeling off the bed anyway* Fuck it, guess I'll just have glass covered in masking tape.
I had the same issue with glass. I spent hours levelling and could only got mediocre adhesion when the levelling was spot on. I bought an ultrabase clone glass bed and it's the best surface i've used. A little harder to level than build-tak but prints pop right off when it's cooled down and you get a semi-gloss surface on the bottom. Also alcohol spray in between prints made a huge difference honestly. I was surprised.
For as shite as the Tevo Tarantula is, I haven't had any peeling problems with PLA with the stock bed when its heated to ~45 - 55°C.
I mostly went glass because there's a big ol' bow in the middle of my aluminium bed.
Just get one of these BuildTak Original 3D Printing Surface I've been using them for years and they work great. No issues with peeling.
In positive news, finally got a re-print of the face-mask that actually came out in one piece, thanks to a much larger support column. The only issue with this one was that the supports were an absolute bitch to remove from certain places. https://imgur.com/a/FvCQzjq Though I can't help but think there's a bit of a limit when it comes to Mendel machines, as ghosting was practically non-existent at the base of the print, but gets more and more noticeable as you go up.

Decided to give Lithophanes a try. Turned out alright. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/132319/8920a1b4-9f2c-43b7-9b4b-93c2e1995928/20181128_230132.jpg
Ordered an Ender 3 off banggood as a combo birthday/christmas gift, hopefully it arrives next week with no problems. I've never bought any shit from China before and I'm a little anxious about it.
You live in the US, so you can probably can get most stuff locally - but I buy stuff from China all the time, and it's rarely ever a problem.
Just picked up a Prusa i3 Mk3 during their Black Friday free shipping promo! I've been wanting one since the original Makerbots hit the scene in 2008, but the cost/quality didn't make sense for me at the time. Also, broke and in school. Kit form - Building over the weekend.
Fuckin congrats dude, enjoy your awesome printer I similarly picked up a Cetus MK3 Extended during Black Friday https://youtu.be/SKDSjQmEruw Just arrived, so I'm still trying out stuff.

Almost ready to calibrate! Just need to finish the electronics today. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1899/8c409d83-8de8-47ab-b61b-4af805e363de/20181204_001624.jpg
Nice dude, i just got that printer a week ago. Its super nice, really quiet compared to my MakerGear M2.
It's surprisingly quiet! The bearings themselves are louder than the motors. I was worried I'd have to move the printer into a back room to avoid the noise, but I don't think that's the case. Calibration was smooth as butter, but I'm having trouble with the print fan - I must have pinched the wire somewhere during assembly and broke it. Their CS is fantastic and is mailing a new one out, but I sourced one from Ebay as well in case I stuff it up again.
I did the thing! Printer is up and running. Now off to get Solidworks reinstalled. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1899/2b10badc-44c1-4d4a-9612-bddfd79812c0/e62lH7U.jpg
3ders.org Neat shit. Wish mine could print that fast.
Finally got my Ender 3 in the mail and assembled it (with little hassle). They sent me a Chinese power cable though...
Does it run just as well on 120v?
Haven't even had the chance to check, as I don't have a spare power cord or an international adapter. Gonna have to borrow one from a friend or something. The printer also came with a microSD card and a USB adapter for it but idk if it's safe to plug into my computer. Probably just excessive cybersecurity paranoia.
I had the same thing although it's just a kettle plug and I have a million things that use them!
It was originally a college project. Finally got my Ender 3 and printed it. I wish my side-walls were that consistently smooth. :/
This one printed pretty damn well. You almost can't see the lines at 0.12. Note to self: don't use spatula on glass, rip surface https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/264052/2963b9d8-e4da-41cc-a9c6-1ef95e73a87c/IMG_20181220_211907180.jpg https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/264052/8f128ad2-94cc-49dd-a325-3dd425c863e7/IMG_20181220_213153644.jpg
Fuck's sake, can't seem to find anyone that sells black v-slot in North America that won't take 3 weeks to 3 months to get here.
Hello! I have gotten myself a 3D printer as well! Seems like the Ender 3 is a popular choice as I have one as well. I must ask, what slicer software do you fellows use?
I use Cura because it's free, but I've heard good things about Slic3r and S3D as well.
http://puu.sh/CqwRp.jpg http://puu.sh/CqwON.jpg This probably won't really work, but if it does I'll share the results.
