Those are just standard tree supports FlashPrint does them pretty nicely
You can also generate tree supports with Mesh Mixer IIRC.

What material did you print with, and did you do any finishing before painting? It looks pretty smooth, no visible stepping lines.
I printed it with the Anycubic Photon. No need for any post processing apart from sanding down little nubs left behind by supports.

Small thing today. We're building a vivarium for a snake and didn't have anyway to clip the temperature probe in the right place. UNTIL NOW. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/703/538d6c16-61cb-4a86-a9e6-e9b25f978d9c/image.png

I'm adding a shelf inside that cubby up above, for storing/feeding filaments. (pls let me know if I'm making a huge mistake that will set my house on fire)
You're not getting an Anet printer so risk of fire should be comparably minimal.
not quite 3D printing https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/133590/9e7b78c1-b7f7-4c63-865a-910b5fe9c69f/VID_21361123_235916_148.mp4 https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/133590/e0a0ff60-08e4-4d1c-9d19-42a1054ce4b0/button.jpg
Took me 20 hours to assemble the printer. Michelangelo's David's support structure from MeshMixer had some serious instability that I had to surgery during the print, but it turned out well overall! https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/108633/4bd9b2ed-be62-46f2-b053-6409bfe6b237/image.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/108633/911e96b9-1760-4cc5-9064-1bfaf71ebcc6/image.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/108633/00f93561-a85b-4491-b447-c3528d261e02/image.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/108633/0b844010-6b49-40fd-b9ed-004c0801654a/image.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/108633/b877ddbf-af2f-4113-a4f4-be653bdb71ae/image.png
I'm working on a little box for a TTGO T-beam and Lithium battery. Did a little 2-minute timelapse of me putting it together in Fusion360! https://youtu.be/HfbM0sxJ0vE I need to add some loops to the bottom for attaching to a dog collar.
Been noticing that a lot of my hesitation to 3d print lately has been from the amount of effort and mess that's usually made when clearing supports off the models, and the ones I print tend to require quite a few, and awkwardly placed ones aswell. Anyone got any advice on how to more efficiently clear up the supports? Though I've even been tempted into making the jump from the Flashforge Finder to a dual fillament printer for some water dissolving supports instead. (Though there's a good chance my supports are just being extra stubborn from my printer not being set up optimally)
Try reducing support density.
Yeah water dissolving supports are definitely the cleaner way if you don't have alot of clean up time. I haven't worked with a dual extrusion printer before but I imagine there's that extra bit of setup and leveling time that you need to account for.

Gold Silk PLA is some amazing shit, I tell you hwhat. For the entire time I've had a printer I had no clue this thread even existed and finally, on the day my printer dies (mainboard on my geeetech i3 is rip) I find it... Thinking of getting a better PLA printer than the literal cheapest one I could find on banggood that wasn't utter trash but im not terribly up to date on what printers are good quality for a good price right now, suggestions for around $350usd? (Only real reason for said price is if im going any higher I may as well just switch to SLA with a photon)
Ender 3 is a popular choice, and allegedly Tevo are releasing a Tarantula Pro (which is basically the Flash but you have to put it all together). Both sell for around $200. There's also the Ender 5 which is a non-Mendel design (the bed moves up and down rather than back and forth) for about $350 as well. https://www.amazon.com/Comgrow-Creality-Printer-Printing-Function/dp/B07KQ2MTGM/ref=sr_1_14?keywords=3d+printer&qid=1558324976&s=gateway&sr=8-14
Eh thats a little outside what im ok with spending on something like this, if I was going for a much higher price point i'd definitely go for an SLA printer given most of what I printing is for warhammer or just general figures.
Isn't the ender kind of a large volume machine? If you're looking to print minifigs, just skip right to an SLA printer tbh. You probably won't be satiafied with these.
I more print terrain and addons for vehicles, not so much actual figures. I was ok with the quality my geeetech printer put out and I actually managed to get some really nice detail from it before it died. While I am tempted, I feel like things like the smell (living in a sharehouse so thats kind of a no deal already) and such are going to be more of a problem than I want to deal with right now
Think that was meant for the 3dcg thread lol
Shit
So I bought a full 1kg roll of gold silk after the 500g roll in the three-pack of silk PLAs turned out so damn good, and I gotta say I'm disappointed. It looks more like shiny Mac-n-Cheese than gold.
Ender 3 ordered, cannot wait to print a bunch of cable holders for my office desk so my legs stop getting wrapped up in plastic covered electricity.
The Ender 3 has had a couple of possible safety issues crop up in the past, like bad XT60 connectors melting, so be aware of that.
