Learning little by little.
Yes
What kind of software do you use to make things like that prop winning Japanese item? I assume it's Zbrush + Maya?
Yeah that's p much it with the substance suite.
Already posted this in the FP discord, here it is for all thread lurkers :

Still WIP, last change will probably be swapping the impact sounds for something more... gelatinous!

Trying some pixel-art texturing. I'm starting to think I might need custom shaders and see how far I can push this.
Annnd.. here's the final product!

I think the cupcake rating is perfect for that! Really well done, mate.
cheers, ain't got much time to pat myself on the back however... time to move on to the next projectt
You need to push for macro detail, and focus less on surface definition type detailing. Focus on bigger things like large scale discoloration, edge wear, and dirt - you need to be drawing out the bare minimum to convey the idea of the surface and get rid of all the detail that just becomes a noise map at this rez.
Cheers for the feedback! I'll try your suggestions and continue to tinker away at it.
This thing has been sitting in my modeling folder for far too long, finally got around to finishing him

First set of gloves for a pack of VR gloves. 5.2 per hand.
I can't see any flaws on those gloves. Why do you make me hate myself with my poor skills
(the secret is cheating)

A stompy mecha I made based on an older project.
Anybody here uses Substance Painter?
Is it any good?
It's like photoshop except for 3D. It's a universal standard across 99% of all studios these days.
It's very good.
I tried it, it's pretty good. Not extremely hard to get into. I also like Substance Designer, if that was the name. Haven't had any reason to use it recently myself but I think it's pretty much a must if you want to work in the industry.
Mostly just working on creating stuff in Unreal Engine but biggest blocker for me is having to texture props/walls etc..
That always bores the shit out of me, I like creating models but I absolutely hate finding textures, adding wear and tear etc...
So was considering of trying Substance Painter.
Do it.
Made this the other day:

It's great, used it on all my things I've made for the past 3 years or so.
Huh, might give it a try so, gonna give trial a shot and if I like it, gonna subscribe, surprised it's not some crazy price like 3ds max subscription.
On the similar note - what software do y'all use?
I am mostly used to 3ds max but it's subscription is like 200 euro per month.
Blender. Open-source and free, also UI doesn't suck ass anymore.
blender and proud 🌈
Blender for poly modelling, Maya for rendering usually. zbrush for sculpting, substance painter and mari for texturing. marvelous for a cheeky cloth sim.
Whatever gets the job done most efficiently essentially :P
You're really living up to your name
I am jealous
Hey Guys, just got into UVW Unwrapping and wondering how do you stitch this type of map together?
https://i.imgur.com/kFad552.jpg
It's a sink, in Substance Painter the corners of sink have seams/mismatch, I assume this is because they are not stitched together?
