at an angle that face looks like the grand canyon.
Since I recently bought a VW Beetle (that was paid for with 3D modeling money), I figure I'd do a quick tribute https://sketchfab.com/models/7aadb122de864d32a3e0110caadfc10e And a very quick, nasty 3D photogrametry scan of the car I bought https://sketchfab.com/models/e1a98e45900e480d9be45997a77b55ef
how many photos did you take for that photogram scan?
200 or so, the main issue with the scan was the fact that the car is shiny, which doesn't bode well for scanning, I've scanned some rusty cars with ruined paint that scanned perfectly in comparison https://sketchfab.com/models/f23d63aa81824ccfbe3bafcc3952b683
i heard the trick is to make sure most of the photos are at the same distance away from the object (if you're doing an object and not a scene) and to do it on a bright yet cloudy day.
Surface material has a lot to do with it, the images of reflections on an object cause the software to falsely detect points in the reflections, which cause deformation as the reflection moves from photo to photo Both of these scans were taken in similar lighting conditions, it was just the surface material that tripped everything up

So uh, nobody did anything with commyball huh?
I'm planning on using it for a school assignment! I'll update in here as I progress, I'm just splitting up the pieces for shaders at the moment
A little isometric low poly office cubicle + officeboi I did for my class, vapourwave meme included https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/223224/44405d0e-f5fd-4fd4-8091-d25fa534367f/Screen_Shot_2018-04-26_at_15.09.14.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/223224/5a2b286d-51f3-401a-82e9-914d7da8ba80/Screen_Shot_2018-04-26_at_14.58.17.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/223224/77b04bf0-8b06-43e1-bd6a-7d03a1078b8e/Screen_Shot_2018-04-26_at_14.58.25.png
Cool stuff! https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/260212/c8df093b-85ad-4c6e-8ac1-19407defaf77/dragon4.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/260212/f59b788e-1839-4efb-9241-297313eba5f2/cherries.png The dragon sculpt is still kinda lumpy, but I guess it's coming along alright. For the cherries we had to sculpt something and then texture it using only procedural textures in an hour. I kinda wanted to add some yellowing or something to break up the red, but I ran out of time.
Gun? ye gun. https://www.artstation.com/artwork/Gwr4B https://cdnb.artstation.com/p/assets/images/images/010/505/161/large/stefan-engdahl-m1941johnsonrifle8.jpg?1524768856
Mentally preparing myself for some fun texturing it as that's probably my weakest skill, in the last 6 days of my degree so once crunch time is out of the way I'll have some fun with it. Sent you coins for such an awesome resource!
Did some test with 2D liquids. Started out as particles, meshed, then rendered out with Arnold Toon shader. So its just a flat plane. Gonna try to make some better environment around it. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1213/c26cddf0-4b05-4efa-a172-13d43cc55490/2Dwater3Dglass_01.png
Been working on some spooky stuff https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/209014/3ff0227d-77ac-4e98-838d-1700e1b89762/image.png
Another one from me, this time for Bethesda Pretty proud of this one. https://www.artstation.com/artwork/xEQ6m https://cdna.artstation.com/p/assets/images/images/010/447/938/large/adam-ridsdale-shot5.jpg?1524496782
https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/132317/808f2592-5634-45a3-92e4-449bcbd1b058/image.png Found this https://cdna.artstation.com/p/assets/images/images/000/547/798/large/matthew-harris-21post-apocalypse-thumbnails.jpg?1426384293 And started modeling after that. It's not for anything, just trying to learn how to model and wanted to do something with some different things. I did the tape by using a plane, extruding it around, solidify modifier and a subsurf modifier. Now I'm gonna go to bed, will hopefully continue working on this again, it was a pretty fun couple of hours.
Alright, getting close to finished. Could do some sculpting and fixing the cloth some more. This has been a fun learning experience. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/132317/7aa95003-8256-4753-8b8b-9c1c680de6a2/shotgun2.jpg
Hi, i am slowly learning Blender on my own: created this mask with respirator thingey. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/107276/66c84e9f-c5cc-4016-be0c-9b011d01439f/airsoft_mask.png

More H3VR gun stuff. https://www.artstation.com/artwork/rQ8bL https://cdna.artstation.com/p/assets/images/images/010/489/412/large/stefan-engdahl-obrezrender9.jpg
Last post about this. I made a low-poly version and open-sourced it (without textures) here https://github.com/mathiassiig/MyModels/tree/master/Post%20Apocalyptic%20Shotgun Low-res looks a bit iffy but I guess good enough for a world-model, and high-res for a first-person view. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/132317/4db0ce38-27ba-45c2-a67e-f00de588c978/image.jpg Next I'd like to try something with emission, glass, copper wiring or all of these. Any suggestions are welcome.
Very nice Moist Nugget Wrist Breaker ya got there. It looks excellent, and you did a really good job on the internals! It's missing all the markings on the top-front of the receiver, though. The receiver looks kind of bare without them imo. Here are some pictures of all the different receiver markings on Mosin Nagants: http://7.62x54r.net/MosinID/MosinMarks01.htm All Mosin Nagants have a lot of markings on the receiver, particularly just above the chamber. Since it's an Obrez which pretty much only saw use in the Russian Revolution, it would make sense that it'd have pre-1917 Imperial Russian markings.
Almost done with this section of the low poly and its bakes. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/465/c79badcf-a127-48d7-9fe5-d3aa6308869f/image.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/465/e3fc313f-cf1d-4593-8a20-42f3042c81cb/image.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/465/04beab4d-0a5d-4e3e-9434-b9b8c9836d97/image.png I'm going back and cleaning up some problem sections right now. This is targeting the spec of something like a VR hero prop that you can inspect in close detail so its got loads of rounded off edges + curvature segments where they matter most.
Has anyone messed around with Eevee in Blender 2.8? I feel like what they're promising is almost too good to be true.
briefly a while back. its fast. like, really fast. recent developments in npr stuff is making its toon prospects even more enticing. stuff like turning the output of an entire shader into color information is going to be hells of useful for stuff like using an ao shader as a fac input, which cycles couldn't even do right until this fake ao node came out like a month ago. you can bet im excited to see this work bleeding back into cycles as well.

Re-textured an old model a while back and I'm making a collection of potions, the have a separate material on the inside with emission also labelled and non-labelled. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/161057/083b9019-0939-42ba-890d-9f753060f41e/screenshot003.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/161057/d58a2c2f-256f-4dab-80ab-e588407c7ab7/screenshot005.png

I made a cleaner version of my desk for practice, working on bigger things to improve and learn. This is my second scene in Blender, the first being the isometric living room, and I'm really loving Blender now. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/112443/6935d928-630d-4e81-ac19-e76aca7419b6/Desk_Final.jpg And here's a progress gif of progress made along the way. I changed the top monitor display to show the source of my Car Bomb poster on the wall. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/112443/5a035359-8ea7-43fc-aefc-f66610c41b6c/Desk_Progress.gif I think my next project will be learning ZBrush since that seems to be used pretty heavily for high poly sculpts.
