Blueprint performance still suffers if you're running a lot of things on tick. Generally though they're pretty close.
So yeah I cannot figure out the issue with Substance Painter that causes these weird AO bakes:

And creating texture sets from UDIM tiles results in this:

I don't know what's wrong there.

no UV's overlap in that way

Hello my nightmares
Bugman finished in its intended environment.

I'm pretty shit at UV mapping and the topology on some of the limbs is straight up painful to look at, so the texture is relatively simple. Only really properly mapped stuff are the eyes and the transparent bits of the wings.
But overall I am extremely happy with it, I've learned a lot in the process and I guess it's pretty good for only my second model totally from scratch and first model from scratch without the use of Google Sketchup, ever.
I'm at a loss then, I used "per UDIM" and an fbx containing only the high-poly version and still get this:

"no UV's overlap in that way and it bakes just fine for me. I don't know what's going on there but i don't think it's a problem with the model. Import one material at a time (IE not the lexan covers and light lenses) and be sure to enable "Create Texture Set Per UDIM" tile. If that doesn't fix it i don't know what to tell you."
Is there an alternative, would re-arranging the uv tiles work? I'd rather not have to do it piece by piece, substance painter is really much better with the whole model visible.
I've started learning ZBrush, which has to be the most un-intuitive program that I've used so far. I've made a skull and a rough head over the past day and will keep making more heads to get the hang of the program and sculpting in general.

I have a question about integrating CG into real footage.
Does the type of camera affect how well the tracking is?
By that I mean, pretty much all affordable cameras have some rolling shutter. Rolling shutter is already known to mess up basic video stabilizers.
There were some people who posted here a while ago that had well tracked CG stuff, I can't remember their names though.
What kind of camera did you use/Are there any cameras that you'd recommend that have no or minimal rolling shutter?
I've never had real issues with rolling shutter when doing this.
I've used Canon DSLR cameras.
I recommend using a high shutter speed though, so you don't have to worry about motion blur.

Modeled my IKEA lamp (Forså), sorry about the blurry background.
A little bit more on the current project, finished most of the core/large structural assets. By the end of this week I'm hoping to start making the medium sized stuff, which will mainly be large rock formations that form the texture and structure of the walls and floors.

I don't know if this is the right place to ask this, but I'm kinda desperate right now:
I have a DWG file (i guess it is used in AutoCAD) and I was asked to convert it to PDF (I've seen it is possible). All I have is 3ds Max 2018 and Inkscape, any ideas ? Thanks
Notes:
The online converters will give me an empty PDF file
I tried converting it to DXF in 3ds Max and then importing to Inkscape, but it won't load
Tried also converting to AI (adobe illustrator) but no success, also won't load into Inkscape
Added the voltmeter (still need to put the needle in later)

I love blender cycles materials shenanigans
nice
might try making the lettering flat and shrinkwrapping it onto the keys though, amybe even faking normals so it looks like its indented
Yep. I should have done that for every letter before coping the caps. I had some strange issue early on and blamed it on shrink wrap but turns out it was due to the texture component just fucking up. I think I can still save it with some texture baking, but probably not gonna bother with this one.
i think that's a problem with blender's exporter. Blender works weird internally and causes stuff like that to happen
Quick update: Remade the voltmeter face because last one was crap and low-quality. I added the needle and stuff as well.

More practice, trying to model everything on my desk. I failed with the padding material, Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro's have this really soft material that also has 'stretch' marks. Happy with the fake leather though.

I quit my job at Elastic about a month ago now, had a bit of a holiday & been twiddling my thumbs for a bit and finally picked up a piece I started four years ago to finally put it on the rack of finally completed.

Still needs a lot of texture work, but considering it's been in limbo for four years I'm finally glad to see this asshole getting somewhere.
Slightly NSFW
The Fistpunch™ is a more compact and tighter version than the other full ones, resembling more of a butt hole, but with more smooth texture, used for the tip.
Old stuff
While the Fleshpunch™ and the Fleshpunch™: Gold Edition are more fictional when it comes to anal penetration for enhanced pleasure, and there longer compounds can fit anyone's size.
I need a 3D-printer asap

It's done, 4 years later lmao
My unreal installation has actually just killed its self. I'm almost lost for words.
Can some one maybe help me understand whats happened here?
I was working on my project, it was going pretty well, unreal decides to auto save, hangs half way through and crashes. I've seen this happen before so its not too alarming, but when I try to relaunch it just hangs, so I go to save my Max file before I restart the pc.
Max file wont save, theres no free space on the pc, which makes sense, thats why the auto save crashed unreal. So I free up space and try to relaunch unreal and I get a pop up telling me that theres no version installed, and I've just checked the folder and the launcher and its right, there definitely inst anything installed.
Unreal has deleted its self from my computer, which really fucking sucks, because I live in the middle of nowhere with an awful connection.
Okay now literally as I paused writing this ITS BACK, its back in the folder, but it doesn't recognise any of my project files, so I'm opening a copy now, hope its okay?
It was all okay In the end, I still have no clue what happened, but I just had to wait for unreal to decide it wanted to work again basically, theres no other way I can put it.
Hey guys, long time lurker here (been through many accounts). I've been learning 3d modelling for a few months now following various tutorials on the workflow, and I've recently finished my latest project on my own. I would really appreciate any feedback that you guys have on areas I could improve. Thanks!

Sounds like Epic didn't account for the edge case where their users run out of hard drive space. You should, uh, probably go buy a portable hard drive.
