That's awesome! I'm super jealous because I'm trying to do the same thing. I'm graduating in a couple weeks so I'm hunting entry level jobs. I've had a few companies interview me this week and I've got one today. Hopefully one of them pans out.

One of them will! I am working at an architecture firm, but I always crave the solace of illustrator and branding.
Had my first paid job in forever from a friend, I think it turned out pretty alright considering my limited time frame and the dude apparently said it was perfect. It feels so good to have opportunities like this to improve my skills too since I'm like the biggest amateur graphic designer ever.

Hail Drop Shadow!
YES
I got an unconditional offer into Uni!
So fucking happy, I really wasn't expecting the 1 in 10 chance to play my odds.
You are an hero.
Something I did up very quick

I'm trying to work on a logo for a website I'm about to start working on, which, for the sake of context, will be called "ilj" and meant for small, freelance web design. Does anyone know what I can do to improve on this? This isn't the finalized product, but a concept.
Perhaps it's too forced, and too busy.

Is it suppose to look like a face? Cause I see a face crying but also smiling.

All I see is a ballsack :v:.
So for my Uni graphics portfolio we could do an album cover and I did, this got me 75% of my grade (the total assignment weighed 35%)
Had to screenshot these bc they're too big to upload

It is indeed supposed to look like a face.
Doing my first snapchat filter, anyone have any suggestions? I'm kinda at a loss for what i should do for the text.

Going to be studying Graphic Design at uni next year, figured I'd get some practice in over Summer.

Any feedback? I'm really liking the idea of incorporating my illustrations into my graphics work.
I'm curious what other graphic design programs are like. At ASU, it's called Visual Communications and it's a science degree. The first year is kind of an examination to see if you're good enough to matriculate into the program proper, and it's a bunch of theory stuff. Everyone does the same work and compiles their process book to be reviewed for entry. You don't really do any typical design work like layouts and logos or have much creative freedom until you're in.

Made this when i was really bored one day

I actually ended up getting the first job I interviewed with. Which is awesome because it was probably my favorite as well.
I have awhole weekend off this week, well excited, gonna do some sort of big photomanipulation scene i think, not sure what of, gonna make my creativity go wild. Wish me luck!

I would say the bottom one, then shorten the left side of the pill shape to get rid of the extra space.
I'd draw what I mean but I'm on my phone

Get rid of the gradient. It clashes with the solid white where the shirt ends and looks kinda weird.
i'm no artist and this is obviously no big project, but i wanted to do an 80s styled avatar for myself, this is what i've got so far

i can't help but feel that it's painfully boring though. something about the colors being too similar, maybe the letters, or perhaps i need something else in there, can't quite put my finger on it. i don't know shit about graphic design, so i'd appreciate any advice
Well, it needs some higher contrast between the colours, a bit more saturation / vivid colour, and probably some chrome, lighting, and sparks.

I personally wish the K was as tall as the Z.
alright, tried making it more vibrant and added a metallic-ish background (which i still have to mess around with)

i thought about making the 'I' shape a rectangle, as the cutoff corners give the impression that it's shorter than it actually is but i feel like that'd just throw consistency out the window, so i came up with this instead (just a quick mockup i did with the pencil tool), though i'm not really happy with it either

I've been working on an Android app that pulls information from Dotabuff to suggest the best and worst heroes to pick against a certain lineup. Would anyone be interested in testing it?
Would any of you guys be interested in making an icon for this Android app I'm working on?

Definitely an improvement. Now I would just say, that the logo needs to be sharper all around. The red at the bottom of the back shape is close enough to the colour of the background behind it that it looks a little blurry / fuzzy. There are similar issues through out. I would tackle it by starting with the text, making that stand out very clearly from the shape, then I would focus on making the shape stand out strongly from the background.
And of course there is the lightning and neon grid.

The bottom one is the better of the two, but I would find some way to add more padding between the edge of the red cap and the word "house." The filter filter itself is a little bit plain however, have you tried playing with perspective or depth the give the pill some 3D shape? Or maybe have the pill split and dumping the letters out or something. Just needs to be more exciting even if it is a small mark to go over footage / images.

Really groovy man, could totally see this in stores. Each face is unique yet they have a harmony to them. Pretty unique style too.

What would you call it?
I knew there was something about it that felt off to me, but I couldn't figure it out enough to say anything..
Oh I knew exactly what it was. I was even unsure about posting it because I thought I'd get ball jokes, instead of people seeing the candle flame.
However I enjoyed the idea I came up with so much that I wanted to stick with it - the candle flame itself is there, then there's also the hearts for the "loving" theme in the subtitle and such.
But that's why I did go back to it in the end and make it look less ballsy.

thanks for the advice, but i kinda dropped it. it was looking too generic and also, the details i was adding (which aren't in the pic) would've looked too cluttered in avatar size. anyway, it was just a fun project to get back into photoshop, see how much i remembered and learn some new stuff (moral of the story is "stop merging every layer together for once")

<-- i did use the logo for my new avatar though
