Man it has been foreeeevvverrrrrr since I last posted in the Creative Photography thread... I was stunned when I saw the forum reordering brought it all back from the dead. I really should follow forum development news better :\
I picked up a new dslr finally, didn't go too overboard, got a D5200 to replace my poor old D70s. I just wanted 24mp, no olpf, no CF card format and better low light performance... The D5200 was the cheapest I could get that ticked all of my boxes and I really like it, missing those dual command dials of the D70s BIG TIME but I'm living with it. Anyway, taken boatloads of really fun photos, no idea where to begin... For right now, I had to do some photos for an expensive block of land I am selling on a nearby island (not as crazy as it sounds), and I did daytime plus sunset shots. Here is one of the various sunset shots that I really loved the result of;

This one was a spur of the moment kind of deal. I have been doing daily walks up the creek on my property, and I spied this tree by the water that some kind of small creature had burrowed a hole into. I went back out to it at midnight the other night, put a small tea candle in the hole, and started snapping away. I wanted to try and go for this sort of 'fairy's house' effect, as if a tiny little thing was living in there with a fireplace burning away in winter or something. I wished I could have got the stream visible somehow but it never seemed to feel right... the flowing creek is literally right behind the glow of the light about 1ft down;

This one is a shot of some bio luminescent mushrooms that grow on our property around winter time. There were close to 50 on this one log - I tried to do an overall shot but the exposure had to be so long and the noise in the image was just too much. Was really happy with this shot though!

Can I get some C&C on the portrait?
Looks pretty neat! But as with pretty much all models she is having issues on what to do with her hand. I'm no expert but lighting looks consistent, and is cozy. However she is in a bedroom and (maybe) about to take her dress off like stuff is about to go down yet her eyes are telling a story of "Did I remember to turn off the stove?".
Just my 2 cents, looks pretty neat still!

Dude are you totally wacko right now? She is clearly checking to make sure the guy she is about to snuff has closed the bathroom door completely before you does a quick report back to CIA HQ. Her hand is hovering in between dress and bluetooth earbud just incase he pops his heads right back out to check on her, because she's pretty sure he's on to her about the whole setup, so she may have to act fast and pull her shit down before the shit hits the fan. She doesn't want to be compromised.

This guy was just sitting there like that for a full minute, completely motionless. No ear twitches, tail just frozen. I thought it was a doll or something. But I made some noise and he turned his head to me, and again, remained completely still until I left.
