Shit, my bad. Thanks for the advice
No worries man. I like the pictures and it looks like a beautiful place but the pictures will have more impact if you show less of them and more importantly the best of them.
im doing more portrait work leave cc pls (also I know the second one is slightly out of focus ) [editline]25th June 2017[/editline] the more i look at the second one the angrier i get at this lens' autofocus
too many pictures, cull them till you have a small set that show the best of all of them. I'd say 4 top with that set. What story are you trying to tell here? I don't feel very engaged at all.
yeaaa I got carried away there, simply I wanted to show they're both picking up broken glass. was reminded of that second photo when I was editing the first one and wanted to see how they would work together. Not really clear in the first one and they're two pictures too dissimilar to each other. But the first one I liked as a standalone with the blue/yellow; blue shirt, washcloth and the yellowish floor and broom, and the dog watching from outside. The second one I liked how the knee emerges.

The second one doesn't really hit any of those marks. Its just a bad photo compared to the one next to it. Even looking past it being out of focus it still just isn't an interesting like the left one. My suggestion would be to of gotten closer and either used a more interesting background or a solid one. Everything just looks kinda gray because of it.
I think Lope's photos are underexposed. 2 minutes in photoshop with curves, might have overdone it on the second one who knows but yeah they're dark if you ask me. I'm going to say this but don't really listen: It'd be awesome if you had a proper quality camera or more extensive editing. Now that I've said that, never let your gear stop you from doing what you want to do or trying to take awesome photos BUT I do think that having a bit more dynamic range to bring out some details in the shadows and a sharper image to give an overall better sense of quality (they all have some haze on them, are your lenses clean?) would make that a pretty cool photo. I want to go to there. Also good job on narrowing it down, just keep in mind that most people find flowers to be pretty low brow content. Everyone can bend down and take a picture of some flowers, but your second two show a much better effort towards finding interesting subjects and compositions. Keep at it.
Thanks for the advice, I appreciate that! I'd love to get a better camera in the future and actually learn to edit, I haven't even tried editing any photos I took. Right now I'm basically just taking my camera with me and snapping photos as I walk around and if I think they look okay I'll upload a few. Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia, Canada is the location if you wanted to know
I found a cool car on the street, so I took a photo of a cool car on the street. Where's the Tyskie though??
Ya, the first is definitely underexposed, i exposed for the sky and had to reach a medium.
Yes, that's good when you're taking the shot, but the entire point of editing a photo is to make it look nice. It added an extra step and maybe two minutes of brushing to have the subjects properly exposed and also bring back the detail in the sky. Notice how the skies in both before and after are exactly the same. All I did was add a half stop or so of brightness to the rest. There's no excuses for selling yourself short or letting your work be less than it can be, especially for something that was so quick to fix. Edit: You could say that you "want to keep it natural" and not selectively edit, which I used to say a lot, but honestly it probably looked much more vivid in person.
The second one I intentionally went darker with, perhaps i could've done something else.
I personally think that this just looks like a normal portrait, so leaving out the top slice of value range doesn't say anything. Is this person secretly dark and depressed? Otherwise you probably just want a nice bright photo because they are smiling and nice.

I think it's funny people like the composition so much. I literally just cropped the original photo so to avoid having the spectators next to me/support vehicles parked to the right in frame.

I already had boosted the shadows significantly (original) and had reached a point where I was satisfied, but I agree, it was still a bit too dark, I just had not had a reference. As for the second, the room was dark. I couldn't get a brighter exposure, and when I was editing I was okay with the dark tone.
Good evening, guys. :) A Summer Walk by Julian M., on Flickr
Good evening, guys. :)
I mean this in the nicest and constructive way possible but post less. I know you like the new camera but almost everything you've posted in the past few pages has been a real step back from what you've been doing. Your portrait stuff from your video stills is good stuff and I can tell your interested in people but I'd suggest taking a step back and think about what you post. For example I give myself a two post per page limit to really think about what I post and if i'm happy with it. This picture is just some real beginner stuff. I can also tell you like nature but you need a subject. Trees are so boring and everyone can do it. Compared to this picture it doesn't seem like the same person posted the one im quoting. This one has some character and is a good idea to follow. I want to know more about this picture. The other one is just some trees in focus and out of focus. I've seen it a million times. I know you can do better man and I want you too. You don't have to listen to me, I just want everyone here to be the best photographer that they can be. And I know you're a better one.
another one I actually talked to the owner and driver of that car about possibly being a photographer for him next year, which would give me the ability to get a media pass and photograph from way cooler locations. He told me to contact him a few months before next years race :)

Have really enjoyed shooting lately, waiting for some events and such though so I can take some more interesting/varied shots. As it is, I have had falling outs with six of my best friends in the last year. The sixth one, by the way, just abruptly decided he didn't want to be my friend anymore. Fine, whatever. Also, self-portraits are pretty much out of the question, as I have little to no self esteem right now. I'm trying to work things out the best I can...
