first one obviously, the person cut in half by frame in the 2nd one is distracting and looks bad. look at blazefresh's photo and take note how to cut out people by framing and not look distracting.

Took this on my travel around Europe, only got my phone so I can't post it as a thumb or embed it. https://flic.kr/p/XG1aHj
I saw the solar eclipse today. I didn't really bother setting up my camera to photograph it (only got one picture of the sun in totality, it's not great but only sorta a decent depiction of how it looks). I don't have words to describe the beauty of it all. I'm no writer by any means, but I'll try to describe it best I can. The build up to the moment is very slow. Where I was, the eclipse process began around 10:25AM. It started with the moon just barely taking a nip out of the top right side of the sun. Through solar glasses, it looks like someone took a lemon cookie and just took a small bite out of one side. After about 30 minutes, you start to notice the light is weird. It's hard to put into words how it looks, but I imagine the reason it looks "off" is because the angle of the sun is still high in the sky, but the intensity of the light is lessened. Shadows don't quite look correct. After about an hour, the lighting is very off-putting in a way since it's so unnatural. The air also gets much cooler. Temperature lowered from around 85 to 70 in an hour. The last few minutes before totality, it's very cool, maybe 65, and getting darker but shadows are still fully present. The sun is just a sliver in the sky. In the seconds before, it gets extremely dark. It's now 11:46AM and it's about as light as sundown. You can see the last sliver of sun disappear behind the glasses. Without glasses, it's like looking at the sun normally. Way too bright to look for more than a split second. And then totality happens..... it's cold now. I was shivering, either from the cold or the experience as a whole. It's dark. Like 9PM dark. Except the sky is orange all around you, not just to the west like a normal sunset. Birds darted into the trees, thinking nighttime had suddenly come and it was time to sleep. In the sky, where the sun was stands a black orb, with a white aura of the suns hot gasses peeking out behind it. You can look at it with your eyes normally. It's surreal... everyone is quiet. There's almost some streaks of light color mixed in with the white. Photos can't depict it. Then, just 2 minutes later, the sun is uncovered and the light becomes blinding again. The process reverses, the lighting becomes less and less odd and the air heats up again. Absolutely the most incredible thing I've ever seen. Almost brought me to tears. No mountain vista, sprawling desert or blue ocean can compare to what it was like to see and experience with your own eyes. Anyway, I took a few pictures while I was in bumblefuck nowhere. This is the sky at night. Very little light pollution. The nearest city is perhaps 2 hours away and only 60,000 people. I'm no astrophotographer, but it was too clear to not do it. This was my effort of trying to catch the weird lighting (intensity+shadow mismatch) before totality, but it doesn't show on camera. I liked the pic anyway after cropping a lot. I took this while sitting in the back of my car the day before the eclipse. I saw a boy kicking a ball around, and it was odd having this bright red ball in the middle of the dry, blandness of the midwest landscape (sorry midwesterners). I grabbed my camera and waited 20 minutes for him to kick it over in my direction so I could snap a pic before he got into frame. Again, I don't have a 360° camera so this doesn't help, but I took this picture at 11:47AM, during totality. It looks like it's past dusk, but the sky was that orange in all directions. I liked the juxtaposition of this new shiny truck and this old vintage camper. This is the sky in the opposite direction right after photographing the truck. It's very dark. I was at ISO3200 and f/2.8 and 1/160th only got me the light of the horizon. You can see fine with your eyes, but the cameras don't like the lack of light. This looks like CGI, but it's just that ball the kid was playing with from before with some color action. Anyway, sorry for rambling.
I'm not much of an artist, but while I was backing up my stuff I found this picture I took at least two years ago, and I thought it was worth sharing. [t]http://i.imgur.com/eKwDrYq.jpg[/t]

Hey ya bunch of egg heads, looking for some recommendations on an entry level SLR that won't break my bank if you'd be so kind. I'm a student but I could save, been looking to get into photography for a while but I feel dumbfounded on what to buy b/c no technical knowledge.
