Hey ya bunch of egg heads,
looking for some recommendations on an entry level SLR that won't break my bank if you'd be so kind.
I'm a student but I could save, been looking to get into photography for a while but I feel dumbfounded on what to buy b/c no technical knowledge.
"wont break the bank" is pretty subjective but i'd spring for a used Nikon D3xxx or 5xxx if you really wanna save money, and spend whatever you save on good lenses.
a d7000 would also be a good choice, a bit pricier but you could use old 80s designed lenses which are cheaper than the new ones.
replace whatever I said above with the equivalent canon models if that's your thing
unless you meant a film SLR, then I have no idea. there are so many choices for that.

got back from reading on monday after going up with a band I shoot for as they'd made it to the BBC introducing stages
a little bit of a dump but its a mixture of us pissing about, the live session as well as some bits and bobs from Liam Gallagher set
also I had a press badge all day so I had free access to the artists catering as well as the BBC hospitality tent, so lots of free booze, food and celebrities (met the bassist for Liam, Architects, comedian Sean Walsh, Guy that plays Samwell Tarley in GoT and a bunch of other celebs, all in all a mad weekend)
anyway, bbc are releasing the full set soonish, but here is the only song uploaded atm (you can see me in the far left hand corner with my camera in the first wide shot of the stage ;) )

oOoOO OOhhh ME MEMEMEMEME
nah but really, all of my posts here for the past 3 years have been film only.
I might be going over to digital fullframe soon though for business, but I'll keep shooting film for personal use to keep experimenting for sure. Especially medium format, there's no (affordable) 6x6 sensor yet afaik.
Since I started shooting again a couple of months ago I've solely used film, but I haven't gotten a single roll developed yet :v:
I need to find a better way of digitising my negatives too, I'm not really fond of my Epson V550's quality.
Yeah, I bought a Rolleiflex can't wait to shoot it! I'm not really liking my epson v600 either.. Also really want to start developing my film myself. So what do you guys shoot with?

My Canon with the 50 1.4. When I get more income I definitely want to be shooting film more.

For 35mm film use a dedicated scanner. I use one fom Plustek and it works great, came with a free copy of SilverFast.
For medium & large format a flatbed is fine.

Large Format? Ain't it a pain in the ass shooting/developing em
Been using a 500c/m, but using it sparingly, since there's barely any shop that develops in the middle of nowhere in Cambodia.
Large Format? Ain't it a pain in the ass shooting/developing em
Yes it can be, but if you ever get the chance, do it. Get a picture developed you'll understand why most professional art photographers use it at least once in their career. The dynamic range and detail that you get is still unmatched by most main stream digital cameras. I miss it dearly tbh.

Examples of a picture. It doesn't look as good as it could because I don't have a flatbed scanner.

I have access to a well-equipped lab and I develop all my own stuff so not really
It's definitely a huge task to use that thing though. My bag with the camera and all the necessary gear is easily 50+ pounds. Then it takes a while just to get the camera out and set up, then another length of time to focus and make the desired adjustments, then pack it up and take it somewhere else. I made my first few test shots with it last night and they came out good so this weekend I'll do some serious shooting
