Optional context for that photograph:
A customer at the cafe where I work invited me to go flying with his friend who flies light aircraft, something I've always been into so I jumped at the opportunity. He picked me up in the early morning and we drove off to this airfield, but it ended up being too cloudy to fly.
They then drove me to this forest where they had built a miniature railway together, and pulled this little electric locomotive out of a shed and said I could have a go.
So on a day when I had expected to fly to the Isle of Wight from here in East Sussex, I found myself completely alone, trundling along a tiny track on a mini locomotive in a remote forest with the leaves falling around me.
The kid, who's name was Rafferty, was just... there. He knew everything about the trains and directed me and advised me as I drove around. I have no idea who his parents were or anything and there was nobody else about.
He was standing beside the track watching me as I passed and I had my Yashica Mat-124 over my shoulder so I stopped and asked to take his picture. He said "Okay but don't put it on YouTube!!!"
He was alone when we arrived and alone when we left.
It was a very weird day, and it felt especially so, since I had not slept for like 48 hours
we might of spoke before but are you based in Btown? cool to know theres other E.Sussex posters round here.

Yeah I live in Saltdean
Minor dump incoming.
I was out shooting a friend, we went to a park and the stream there had not yet frozen and the sun was setting so it was really beautiful. By the end of it the sun had pretty much set but the light was still good. These are the highlights, both of her and of the environment.

Usually I don't shoot with models like these and when I do I have usually more plans on what I want to achieve. But she is pretty good so she just makes things work when I have no idea what I'm looking for. So the posing is all her and the composition is all me, If you want I'd be glad to receive critique on the composition.
Been laser cutting lens caps with partial success. Seems that the colour, transparency and cut/etch vary wildly. Out of 142 photos taken, only 16 were decent. Gallery here: https://imgur.com/a/869pG

Yeah I know you can use software to easily create colour shadows like this, but I prefer to punish myself and get it perfect with a camera and a bit of laser cut plastic.
that's pretty sick
Im going to be traveling next year to Eastern Europe, and I want to take a ton of photos of the landscape and architecture of the cities (Specifically when I head to Chernobyl) and Im looking at getting a DSLR with an ultra wide lens so I can capture more of the scene in a single shot (a lot of these photos will be used as reference images). I dont have a huge budget, so $1200-$1500 is my max for both a camera and a lens, but if I can get away with something much cheaper that would be ideal. Camera will used both indoors and outdoors in bright and dark locations as well. Can anyone recommend me anything of the sorts? Im not really knowledgeable about cameras.

You should head to your local camera dealer and ask for recommendations also, and see which one you like.
I find ergonomics and ease of use important, how big you want, size, etc.

You'd be fine with a beginner DSLR - could even go used body and maybe even lens if you're comfortable with that. Would greatly help your budget. Canon 60D is what I use and you can get it for about $300-400. Wide Lenses would be like 10-18mm but you could get away with 24mm as well.
https://www.adorama.com/us%20%20%20%20936269.html
That's my camera which I also got used so that will leave the rest of your budget for good glass.
This search shows the type of images the body can take, it's not a bad camera, not the best as it is a few years old but for a first DSLR and staying under budget it'd be a good choice. https://500px.com/search?submit=Submit&q=canon+60d&type=photos

They're all pretty samey, similar outfits plus its all with sunglasses. Try more different outfits and expressions.
It seems like the second last one, you bring down the highlights too much, especially the shadows.

It'd be fine if you went with portrait panoramas.

yea, the sensor on the 700D doesn't have a great dynamic range. Had to do some heavy recovery to bring out the detail. In the original, she was almost pitch black. I attempted the silhouette, but maybe the sun was too extreme in that occasion.
Me and some friends decided to burn some old books we had, I didn't really take that many pictures since it's just a fire and who cares about pictures of fire? But these two I thought were worth sharing.

I'm sorry for your loss. I really appreciate this photo, it reminds me of life and death. Starting out in the calm and shallow waters, growing up and competing against everyone else just to get ahead, and then back into the water but this time they're deep and unknown. After death however, you are free to peacefully soar above the rest of the world. Anyways i'm no art critic, but your father's last photo brought me joy.
i'm really sorry to hear that mate, thoughts are with your family in this difficult time.
