If you've been following the other photo thread, I've been scanning negatives.
This is a great picture
Thank you so much! For those two I did crop them 1x1 but perhaps that one works better as a wide. Maybe it doesn't really matter.
Thank you so much! For those two I did crop them 1x1 but perhaps that one works better as a wide. Maybe it doesn't really matter.
Personally I like it cropped better, the line on the left that is almost yellow makes a clearer "stop" in the picture not allowing the eye to wander further while the white reflections on the left distract as well as the seats to the right and the next window to the right. But that's just my opinion.
i actually far prefer the un-cropped version.
yees! it's the ratio of abstract reflections to the focussed center which makes it better.
Seconded. Uncropped version is a lot better. Meanwhile, make-up application requires a lot of focus Applying by Eddie Eklund, on Flickr [editline]4th July 2016[/editline] Also took this portrait a few days ago! I'm curious about your process trogdon, do you mind sharing some before/after-editing pics? Or anyone else here who would like to share
I'm curious about your process trogdon, do you mind sharing some before/after-editing pics? Or anyone else here who would like to share
If curious bout mine here's one from last posted, but do ask for any specific if you want I suppose. and I dunno if maybe this belongs more in the discussion thread? [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/bBmZfSc.jpg[/img_thumb] how intensely they are edited/stylised depends of course on the shot, and certain days I'm in a certain mood or feel for a different style. I try to experiment most of the time. Sometimes I paste develop settings from completely different dates/contexts of photos. I play around a lot with curves when trying to accentuate contrasts between shades, use Split Toning for some final touches on the color/CC. Go back and forth on a lot of stuff from cropping to smaller stuff, sometimes restart the whole process. I usually have a hard time settling on a look, you can certainly spend ages raw editing a photo but I try not to dwell for too long. Some shots deserves it though.
I'm curious about your process trogdon, do you mind sharing some before/after-editing pics? Or anyone else here who would like to share
I do a ton of stuff to my photos, but it's mostly all based on one preset that I made myself. I sat down one day and just looked at a photo I liked the colors of (was something BlazeFresh posted in the work that inspires you, was a truck in a desert), and took one of my photos and tried to recreate the look. So it's all a custom pull of the RGB curves, that is where you've got the most control in lightroom but it's very hard to make it look natural and not have weird color artifacts. I think I pushed blues in the shadows, but the highlights end up kind of yellow sometimes (hard to get white whites). Other than that, I drop the highlights a ton, push the blacks, and adjust shadows and whites as needed. I think pushing blacks before shadows creates a more natural contrast. I don't lift blacks or clip whites 90% of the time, I love full bodied contrast. I do a little bit of HSL adjustments, typically more toward red oranges and cyan blues. Camera calibration is where the other heavy color pushing comes in, I pull the blue primary negative a lot, goes much more cyan/red opposed to blue/yellow. Lots of vibrancy added, I love colors! Description aside, here are the before and afters. those images are all broken for me
