Cool tip: shoot through pine/fir branches to get non-boring bokeh (works techically the same way as cutting out those silly paper masks for lenses)

This shot is too dark, yeah - shoulda stepped up ~2/3 or 1 stop.
Though when shooting raw (especially in high contrast scenes and in a semi-auto mode, i.e. aperture or shutter priority), I always step down at least 1/3 or 2/3 of a stop to get a better dynamic range/better exposure/better editing material and then bring up the exposure/shadows in post at the expense of some quality.
How much playing room you have and IF you should do this totally depends on your camera and scene though. Your shot is pretty uniformly underexposed and could've been shot brighter.
What settings did you use/what camera & lens?

I use a simple P&S camera "canon sx150 is" (because im only getting into photography, always used a phone or my old camera) that has lots of manual controls
i think i used like 4-5x zoom, 1/60 and iso 80, and the highest possible aperture
Coulda bumped up the ISO to 200 or even 400 in that case.
Recipe for bokeh: Wide aperture (smallest number), high zoom (be careful with this, variable aperture lenses have smaller apertures at longer zooms), close focus, far background (works best with small areas of bright contrast such as the sky through leaves, specks of snow on trees or point source lights).
Experiment.

yes, my widest aperture on 12x zoom is f/5.6, normally f/3.4

yeah you gotta figure out what the zooms are. 12x doesn't say much if we dont know what mm is. Is it 18mm? Is it 150? And if your camera is anything like the P&S that I used to have, you shouldnt go over to digital zoom, stay in the optical part
