Top is already heavily recovered because it was quite far away from our camp and the landscape was kind of dangerous, snakes, jaguars and most of all: illegal gold miners. Would have loved to try around more but it was a quick walk and then back situation

I prefer the top one, I'd probably just blow out the top right to make it match. Neat photo though, a very interesting scene. Composition and colors look great as well
Personally I like the second one more, the light in that one is just more appealing to me
I like the top one because its more to life even though the sky is washed out a bit. Since its more to life I want to know more about the boat and could imagine being there. The second one reminds me too much of the super edited Instagram photography and it makes me not want to care about it. I think the composition and colors (like Trogdon said) are already good enough that you dont need to over edit the picture to make it good.
They're two different photos with two different feelings. It's not so simple to just say one's better than the other, they're both good and both invoke different feelings for different reasons. That being said, if my life depended on it... I like the colors of the top one more.

The green-to-orange gradient on this is amazing, is that a natural result or was it an edit?

lope, my suggestion for you would be to find work that you find to be truly inspiring, and copy it. Copy it, and build off of what you learn by experimenting and replicating the work that you enjoy and incorporate that knowledge into your own photography. These kinds of photos (the bokeh photos) are simply fluff. They're not very creative, and they're so ubiquitous that it's impossible to separate one from another beyond a certain point. At the moment, you have a photo of a dingy window. Work on finding unique subjects, or framing common subjects in unique ways. Practice, keep at it, work hard. :)

hm thanks. I noticed that too and I've been trying to work on that. I like to take these cliche photos as practice and to learn techniques. I actually think a lot of my older shots were much better than what I'm taking now, in terms of originality.

Sadly the RX100M2 has this weird bloom effect when going macro with wide open aperture.
