don't shoot photos of people on the street w/ a 300mm lens
Why? Is it a technical reason or some other? I never experienced a 300mm before, so I have no idea. I'm not buying it to shoot people, anyway. I don't even like shooting people :v: Much more interested in landscapes/animals/architecture.

a long lens makes it even more creepy, imo and the photo feels far more removed. wider focal lengths such as 24-50mm forces you to get closer and makes it more intimate and generally less creepy, if you're shooting street/candid photos of people. But 300mm is good for those tho.

Yeah, I thought about it being creepy, too. Street photography should be about being kind, not stalking-like behavior. After reading about the laws I will not be taking obvious portraits without asking first anyway (Police are really kind here in this town, but I really don't want to get on their bad side), so any lens should do, depending on the shot I want to make.
P.S. Does anyone else use their bike heavily when going on photo trips around town?.
I love my bicycle as transport during longer photo trips, makes it easier to move from area to area.
I used to have acess to a car but this summer I think I'll go by bike as well. Sort of too cold now during the winter
So now we have an entire subforum that can be used for sharing photographs. The photography chat thread makes sense but how should shit work with this thread now? CC before had it's own photography subforum but this time around everything's in one place so I'm wondering if it won't get cluttered fast with photography threads. I guess this can just be for people to share any photos they feel aren't worth an entire thread? Idk discuss away and we'll figure it out whenever I wake up zzz
Speaking about both photography and drawing threads I think that this community is not so big that we need multiple threads. Maybe a separate thread for technical questions/recommendations, but people just going in one thread to post and discuss their photos/drawings in this quantity seems ideal for me. If you have a very great photo and you create a separate thread, it will get less attention because generally people just visit the main one.

use new threads for (big) sets such as events/photo set/assignment(s) for discussions/feedback.
this thread works great for showcasing individual photographs or a small set and not too much in-depth chit chat.

Since i've been here long enough to see it both ways, I don't think we'll go over 4 or so threads. This thread and the photo discussion thread cover the bulk of what we post. There is a Work That Inspires you thread but no one really posts in it. Unless we do a competition thread or a very niche thing I don't see us filling up the section. If it does then you can tell us to tone it down or throw us in a corner with our own section. I would like to stay in the CC section so we can get as many new people as possible.

People need prime lens to be shot on the spot.
I went to Prague last month. These are my favourite photos I took.

Yes, it would be nice to see that thread moved into here.
I think the move to GD killed that thread completely.

First time posting, would like some feedback on this. Felt like I've overprocessed this picture to achieve the spooky look
I really like it. There's no such thing as overprocessing if you're going for a specific look, imo. Looks very movie-like, if anything.
Good morning, have some casual photos from my window.

I like. There's nothing wrong with processing if the photo is already good. It's trying to fix inherently shit photos with inches of makeup that's bad.
Yay to casual windows shots. These two were shot from inside my room out through my window:
