[img_thumb]https://u.nya.is/itssjc.jpg[/img_thumb]
This is fucking great. That shadow is super cool - especially at a larger resolution.
But really how about a contests thread? I.E. smartphone only, certain crop ratios, use shadows, etc.? Maybe more of a "challenge" thread since i don't believe there should be winners
But really how about a contests thread?
I'd probably do one later this year since ill be graduating in may and will have much more free time. We would just have to set up a flickr group or something so its more organized. We would also maybe need judges or a way to vote.

I like that idea. If you guys get that set up, I'm in. I shot for a few hours today. Apparently my digital viewfinder isn't properly calibrated for brightness, need to look into that. Some stuff turned out, others I'll have to edit later. Hoping to get better at editing photos for when I can eventually afford to buy some decent hardware. Any tips? Anyone else really enjoy photographing animals?
It's very hard to judge brightness on a digital screen while outside during the day.
It's very hard to judge brightness on a digital screen while outside during the day.
I know, that's why I shoot through the EVF rather than on the LCD. Still, it seems a lot brighter than the pictures are coming out, which is making me underexpose. Need to figure that one out. Or just use the OVF, although then I can't use manual focus, since there's no focus assist. It couldn't have cost Fuji that much to put in a split prism, surely?
Does your camera's EVF support histogram overlays?

Seems like at 0, its on the darker side.
Does your camera's EVF support histogram overlays?
I never thought to look into that, but apparently there's a histogram display mode for both EVF and OVF. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give that a shot.
Lmao split prisms don't work like that Just use AF and OVF
My mistake. Rangefinders use a... well, a rangefinder, don't they? There's still no optical manual focus system in the OVF. That was the point I was trying to make. The AF system in the X100T is notoriously slow and woefully inaccurate, so I'm trying to learn to work around it.
starting another tumblr, this one with more focus on modern film rather than discontinued and/or expired film. first up some snaps with cinestill 800 i took during a fashion shoot, this was during my internship 2015-2016. Did some reading and found that hip-firing is a pretty good way to remain inconspicuous for street 'togging, so I gave that a go. Pretty fun! Staying at 1/640 at 800 ISO meant I could actually stay in motion as well.
well no, but that wasn't my point
Keep shooting how you are doing. You'll soon build up the confidence to shoot photos of people facing you. Like you said, it can be very inconspicuous. Once you realise you what you can get away with, I'm sure it'll be a very fast trend upwards and better. [editline]21st February 2017[/editline] Salmon and Kirby. Keep doing what you're doing!
When I'm working as a wedding photographer, I find eliminating the self doubt has like a tenfold effect on the awkwardness. Even just a sliver of 'I'm not 100% comfortable with taking this photo', they'll pick up on it and it gets weird quick. But if I keep the mindset of "just doing my job that i'm being paid for hey what up" and walk around confidently and openly, things go much more smoothly, and even when someone doesn't want their photo taken it's no big deal.
