Just starting to get into photography. I really enjoy doing portraits, here are some of my friends on a trip to the woods. Any tips or advice?

I like the second to last one a lot, you really get a sense of scale of the scene. Lots of people new to photography tend to shoot at standing position, so taking photos from low angles like that is great.
Minor crit of the first one, generally with shallow DOF portraits you want to focus on the eyes, but it looks like the plane of focus is a bit behind them (the hat and his chin are in focus).

why aren't you happy with it? And not trying to be rude, but why did you post it/gone through the trouble of editing? I'm genuinely curious. What aspects of it are you not happy with it?
Usually I never even edit the ones I'm not happy with or end up editing and not liking, but if I half like a photo, I might just go with it to get some cc.

I thought I liked it until I uploaded it then I no longer liked it. I can frame that better, I dont like how low the birds are and how high the other paper things are. I also want to make it be slightly low angle (or higher haven't decided yet).

This is very true - good advice! I need to build up that "Fuck it" attitude to immediate street photography I think I lack right now. This method works for now, it just happened to be that the only shots I liked that day were from the back :ohno:

nice photos, but try editing down your selection a bit. of the last 6 photos i feel 5 of them might as well be the same photo repeated.
Ugh I've been disgustingly lazy on my edits ever since my Adobe CC license expired. I literally just move them from my camera onto my phone and spending 30 seconds in VSCO for each photo. And at the end I become extremely dissatisfied because I can't get the results I want and the photos don't look the same at the computer as they did on my phone.
I really need to get Lightroom but I can't justify the price since I don't do this often nor do it professionally. Maybe someday when I have extra €150 to spend but that's not gonna happen anytime soon.

Holy shit why is it so hard to format a post properly
last month i ordered mamiya c33 from japan because i started realize that medium format it's kind a more promising level in film photography(maybe it's not true actually).
after 4 days of boring waiting(that was pretty quickly) i've got it.
and i understand that design and usability of TLR camera are totally!! different from any SLR camera.
eventually after little sex with it i found the way how to use it better and for better reasons.
