I ought to do this, maybe it'll fix my slicing problems.
Well, I installed it and configured it, everything works correctly until I slice. It freezes at support material and wont continue. I gave up after that happened so IDK if its just support or what ill give it another go in a bit
The most wonderful thing about RepRaps is the ability to print your own upgrades. I recently added a servo actuated z-probe for enabling auto bed leveling on my MendelMax. I had to dig through thousands of lines of code in the Marlin firmware to get it working for my printer but it was worth it.
Auto bed leveling is fucking awesome.

Printed my first print a couple days ago from my brand new RoBo 3D.
Buuuut of course 3D printing can never be simple so the PTFE tube in my extruder has already broken, making good printing next to impossible
Good enough excuse for me to buy an E3D hotend though so Im not complaining :v:
I made a remix of a BeagleBone Black cover yesterday:

It took a few weeks more than expected to get the time to print off the top of my case but as of now I have officially finished Norseboard version 1.

I'll make a big write-up some time in the coming weeks about the whole build process and the revisions it went through along the way.
man that is awesome
a friend got a 3d printer, and made me some parts for my airgun

What sort of printer? Those look like some good prints.
I was so close to winning a solidoodle 4 auction on ebay yesterday. Didn't win though so I went into a buying frenzy instead and ended up buying another reprap. Im going to go with the P3Steel frame, it (seems fairly robust and easy to assemble), a Budaschnozzle, RAMPS and LCD+controller (just some cheap one with an sd slot).
I haven't printed anything worth mentioning for a while, my PSU went bad a few weeks ago and I just recently got it going again with some old ATX supply i salvaged from the trash.

Solidoodle is having a spring sale, $100 off any model except 4 if you wanted to get a S2pro for $500, it's a damn good deal.

Yeah but I don't think that a solidoodle from USA is a good deal for me as a european, I have to pay alot for delivery, and then there is customs which is 25% of the total price. So for that kind of money I can get a lot more reprap.
To anyone who has problems with reaching 110c on the heatbed within a reasonable timeframe I can heavily recommend putting a sheet of cork underneath. I had severe problems reaching 110c after I swapped out my powersupply. Putting a few bucks worth of cork underneath the heatbed decreased the heating time to 1/3.
Might need ot invest in one of these printers. Seems they're going to become a staple part of industry in the next few years.
I saw these guys at a local convention. They don't have any printers out yet, but they're planning on throwing up a kickstarter later on. I saw the prototype at the SLC Comic Con, and if they can keep to their base price point ($600), the resolution is impressive.

Their site already claims a price-tag of about $800.

The guy I talked to at the convention says they plan on having two models, one on par about with the Replicator 2 when it comes to build area, and one larger. The larger one is going to be based around $800 if I recall correctly. The smaller model with the heated bed and a single extruder should be around $600. I'm pretty sure he was one of the engineers working on it, because he seemed like he knew what he was talking about.
I updated my Bukobot firmware to Whosawhatsis's latest branch of Marlin which has support for firmware retraction and I'm blown away by the difference it made. The firmware retraction retracts really fast but returns from that at a slower rate (close to the printing extrusion rate) and as a result it entirely eliminates strings and blobs.
I also designed a neat fan shroud and mount that I've attached but at the moment I don't know exactly what part of the firmware to modify to enable speed control, so right now I just have it connected straight to 12v which is fine as a compromise but needs to be fixed for the long term.

There weren't many solid mounting points on the Bukobot X carriage, so I had to make a sort of clamp mount that attaches the metal plate there. Surprisingly this solution worked a treat and I've had no issues with it being there.
I still need to make the fan's speed controllable because it's probably not wise to be cooling constantly but for now I'm pretty happy with it.
I printed this half size blood lamp last night and love the design so much that I am currently running off a full size version that is so big the skirt layer actually went off the side of my print bed.

I made the base of a full size version of that lamp and had it going overnight. Woke up this morning and it had finished fine but the filament and my little oil attachment had wedged under the top bar of the printer which was evidently enough force to crack the side pieces of my printer. Hopefully I can get the STL for that part quick enough to print a copy while it's still holding up.

From now reading that I think the first thing I'd want to make would be a full set of replacement parts. On a side note is anyone in this thread from the UK have one? I'd like to commission something that costs a load when bought online.
So this'll be my next big project:

Each part is about 10cm^3. Printing starts tomorrow.
Nearly finished my Silver knight helmet from Dark Souls.
Only the wings ontop the helmet are missing.

Gah, the printer at school is being a huge pain in the ass. I gotta find a ide hard drive for it and mirror it over before it shits itself.
It keeps erroring right before it goes to print after warming up, so im assuming that its the hard drive not only because its getting pretty dang old, about 9 or so years now, but because it appears to be erroring when it tries to read the part that was sent to it that gets stored on the drive.
Fun fun.

Find an old shitter tower, rip the drive out and use systematic ghost to ghost the drive.
Heres some stuff I printed 3 years ago on my BfB3000:

Aaand my day has been ruined by customs:

Who the fuck do they hire to do custom checks? I wouldn't want to see the result of a "skat" worker wiping his ass, they don't even have the capacity to open a cardboard box without riping the sides off. The metal sheets for the printer inside is obviously bent probably because they figured it was easier to lift the bottom things out first. Fuck sake I hate my country at times. We hire overpaid dipshits who don't give a single fuck about their job.
I swear to god I think they even plugged in my beagleboard (As last login date in the console was after shipment, but before I got it :tinfoil:)

Shipping in general is shit. I had a friend who used to work for UPS, and one time they came across a partially opened package with a blow-up doll in it. The sensible thing to do would have been to re-seal the package and let it be on its way, but alas, it was not meant to be, as the doll was torn from its confines and promptly inflated/batted around the warehouse like a slutty beach ball.
Just finished installing my E3D hot end
ITS BEAUTIFUL
