here's my two most recent prints, both done within the last week
the pilot helmet got cut off because we didnt check to make sure we had enough filament before printing, so I gotta wait till we can get more to reprint :v:
my printer will be delivered tomorrow, right when it's my free day
I will get a 3D printer some day I wish I had more money.
scrap that, 3 hours after the supposed 2 hour long delivery window ended and I still don't have it (and the tracking site hasn't change status beyond "arrived at sorting area") . I guess I won't get it today after all... :(
Mine is on a train. Choo choo.
I'm currently looking at amazon for 1.75mm ABS filament for around $30, anywhere else I should have a gander at?
they send the same mail saying it'll be delivered today from 12:30 to 14:30
fun thing is I have to work from 12 to 15 :v:. Luckily my sister will be at home, and who knows if they will actually do it today.
[editline]14th June 2014[/editline]
the package weight did get changed to the correct one though (first it listed 5 kg but it's like 10.5 which they display now)
and it's here! with a V6 hotend as I asked :D. Only oddity is that they gave me a 1.75 mm one instead of 3mm which I asked for, but it's no biggie (luckily they also changed the spool I ordered with it to 1.75 otherwise I would've made a fuss about it)

they also gave me an extra spool of ABS (1KG)
Scratch which printer did you bought?

this one with V6 hotend instead of V5
oh how in the fuck, I just got a mail that mine and some other guy's order got swapped :v:. I already was confused as to why I got the 1.75mm hotend instead of the 3mm one but this explains it (might also explain the 2 rolls of filament I got instead of just one!)
I can send them back the wrong one and get the correct one back for free.
Should I bother switching it to 3mm or is there no real benefit/downside between the two sizes?
Has any one made PC cases?
Has any one made PC cases?
I doubt they'd be very sturdy. Also, it may build up electric charges considering that most printers operate on plastic. I could be wrong but I wouldn't want to be the one taking the risk!

USPS is really shit at descriptive tracking information.
So I ended up going ahead with purchasing the MakerGear M2. First thing I ended up printing out was a little tool rack for the tools that came with the printer.

Pretty happy with the results.

That's actually a really genius idea. I think I might do something just like this so I don't lose my allen keys that I am always tweaking the printer with.
[editline]21st June 2014[/editline]
I found the source of one of my recent decreases of print quality. Seems that since I switched to volumetric print settings I forgot to change the settings for default print width which wasn't being calculated correctly by slic3r anymore. It resulted in under extrusion which for the most part was usable, but when it came to tight corners or horizontal surfaces I was getting drastic problems from slight holes to unwanted overhanging edges that should be vertical.
I guess as much as these problems frustrate me, it's what keeps me coming back for more with 3d printing. There's always new things I'm learning about my machine and small tricks I discover to better my print quality.

Ok, this is even worse...

Besides being dutch, i take it as a yes?
sure, what do you need?
Well, it'll be a week or two, because i gets some flipswitches that i need to measure for the whole project, but i suspect the estimated size will be 115mm x 75mm x 20mm.
Though nothing is certain. It's not all gonna be plastic of course, but how does that sound to you. Not too big i hope?
should fit fine. My printer should be able to print 200X200 by 170 mm
I assume you want it in ABS (as it's stronger than PLA)?

Hhmm, what do you charge for them?
Well, finally had the time to fix my cold clog, I need to build a new extruder assembly ASAP because the one that came with it is very annoying to perform maintenance on.
Also: Next time you're at the dentist ask them if they have any dental picks they plan on getting rid of. They are super useful.
Hhmm, what do you charge for them?
The price of the plastic & shipping I assume.

I assume you want it in ABS (as it's stronger than PLA)?
PLA and ABS are almost equally strong. Strong as in they break at about the same time. ABS is just softer so it flexes a bit more before breaking.
What differs the two plastics is that PLA kind of absorbs water like crazy and is less heat resistant so it's not good for mechanical parts and stuff you want near water.
On another note, ColorFabb filaments are awesome:

XT is stronger than ABS, takes more heat and doesn't smell. It's also food contact rated. :eng101:

Its still cheaper to buy and ship this from europe than it is to buy/ship filament from the 3D Printing people in Vancouver (my home city) :v:

Besides stating the obvious, don't you have something more a bit more closer to a proper guesstimate, moneywise?
I don't imagine shipping for a brick of plastic is stupidly expensive, but how much would YOU charge for it, for time and material?
