Man its been a while. Ended up finishing the mask and doing a cosplay with it. I went to c2e2 and didn't like the fact that i didn't have anything in my hand so i ended up making a stun stick. I used the inside of a light saber and added some sounds to the stun stick aswell.
Damn dude, that looks amazing! Do you have the STL? [editline]23rd May 2016[/editline] Speaking of cosplay, I've been working on a revolver from the VR game Hover Junkers so I can cosplay as the mechanic dude [t]http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/hoverjunkers/images/e/e5/Hover_Junkers_Redlius_Revolver.png/revision/latest?cb=20151014051200[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/7XLdKIq.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/WZ0NifZ.jpg[/t]
Sure, The mask has over 50 parts to it so I suggest not doing it if you don't want to go insane. The stun sticks fairly easy though. Mask http://www.filedropper.com/combineparts Stun Stick http://www.filedropper.com/stunstick
OVer the last two months I've been attempting to use our makerspace 3D printer to create a replacement gear for a betamax machine and an enclosure for the PRM-85 EPROM adapter for an old computer. Slic3r has been a bitch for both and I've been making parts that are either not properly printing or something is fucking the scaling up. :v: Anyways, two questions. First if someone has already made a model of this style of knob: I'm working on a project where I need knobs and if I can get some of those made up so they can be epoxied onto the heads of bolts that would be great. Second if anyone would want to model a Hawley mouse if I gave them the dimensions. It's a pretty.....blocky mouse.
here's a knob like that, not sure what exactly your requirements for it are tho some other similar knobs also that mouse is literally three rectangular prisms, you should be able to do that in freecad with no experience :v:
That knob will work. Thank you. Also, yeah, I was trying to find the blockiest most simple to make mouse ever and came across that.
I guess I could knock it out real quick if you post the dimensions and you're not gonna model it yourself v:v:v

Do you have any more info on the outfit? I can figure out the stunstick and arduino stuff myself.
I guess I could knock it out real quick if you post the dimensions and you're not gonna model it yourself v:v:v
I'll go bitch at my buddy and see if he can lend his out to me for measurements. It's a $700 mouse these days, jesus.

Friend made the vest for me and I sewed on the reflectors to the pants/ shoulders. Unfortunately since I've been working on the costume for more then a year I don't have a list of all items anymore but here is some of them: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00O4W2VMA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001UROUJO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OLBC7DM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (Fabric for the vest)https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015FANGSW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001AGYLD0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OX0KRXS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 http://www.ebay.com/itm/SILVER-REFLECTIVE-FABRIC-sew-on-material-width-39-inch-1-meter-/111778351514?var=&hash=item1a0682499a:m:mZMZHZYK9vcydaPMTJidLpQ
I'm considering buying a new printer to replace my Solidoodle 2, primarily because everything in it can be considered "custom" and irreplaceable. The heated bed also sucks tbh. Looking at getting a Prusa i3 clone. Holy shit they are cheap on eBay. I have a Geeetech i3 x (Prusa i3 clone) and it's just been a myriad of problems. I've dumped a huge amount of time and money into it just to get it to be practical in its usability, reliability, and quality. Not bad for my first ever printer, but I'll gladly pay way more for a more professional solution in the future.
Honestly, if you don't mind doing some legwork, I think the best route if you have prior experience with printers is a CoreXY using the aluminum extrusion profiles. Stuff is way cheaper, stronger, and lighter than the typical 8-12mm steel rods.
That knob will work. Thank you. I happen to have one on hand and could probably make a quick model of it actually I might do that anyway I like it [t]http://i.imgur.com/vnESKLN.png[/t]
https://skfb.ly/QtTA The smoothing groups are kinda fucked but the shape and scale is right. I could fix it up if someone wants but I didn't want to spend too long on this. e: aw shit I expected it to automerge
The problem with the greeneye is it's not easy to print unless you do so upside down and with supports added in. The Hawley isn't a perfect box either but the angle is so small that most printers can do the overhang.

I really miss having a triple extruder printer, I'll have to build a modern printer at some point. Did brushless motors ever make their way into the real of 3D printing? Someone made a proper nice design for a fast, quiet and cheap printer using RC car motors.
The knobs worked perfectly.
Hey all, never used a 3d printer in my life, but for various reasons I'm interested in getting and using one. What's the best way to go for a ~$300 budget?
Hey all, never used a 3d printer in my life, but for various reasons I'm interested in getting and using one. What's the best way to go for a ~$300 budget?
TBH, the best way to go there would be to wait and get a bigger budget. If you really are insistant on spending that little, Pursa i3s kits cost around that much (if you're somewhat competent mechanically), and Micro3Ds run about $350 (if you want a pre-built printer).
I got a ~$300 Prusa i3 kit and yeah, save up a bigger budget. Save yourself the time, headaches, and money (you'll be buying parts to upgrade it to be decently usable or reliable without a doubt). Is the Micro3D fairly low maintenance and easy to use? The lack of a heated bed sucks.
I print with ABS and the heated bed is pretty much necessary or else your part delaminates as it cools and you have to start over.
Thanks, I'll give it some thought. But if I do end up going with that budget, do you guys have any specific recommended kits you could share? Or advice on what qualities to look for in kits?
Or advice on what qualities to look for in kits?
Immediately off the top of my head: - Heated bed, more or less essential. - ABS capable, if you're buying something that can only do PLA you're in for a rough time. - 200x200mm (8x8 inch) build plate. - RAMPS 1.4, a nifty control board. Nice to have but not necessary. - Don't get a "Delta" printer. Now if you don't want any of those, some printers can get rather ridiculously cheap. Also holy crap: Solidoodle went out of business. My Printer is an orphan :( [editline]12th July 2016[/editline]
I got a ~$300 Prusa i3 kit and yeah, save up a bigger budget. I typed it up and then Firefox mobile crashed :v: Z axis rods were bent on arrival, heated bed design was just all fucked up and needed major modifications to get to keep heat, also needed a new power supply to get to decent temps, extruder slips all the time with its poor quality parts, voltages for the steppers were all off, x axis slips occasionally, software it came with is outdated, included profiles were completely off for decent prints, only works with slic3r, etc etc etc etc. That's just off the top of my head.
Apparently my dad up and bought a $300 kit and it's already here so I guess we're rolling with that lmao
Waiting on the filament to arrive now, printer's all assembled. Should arrive by tomorrow, then we can do things.
Waiting on the filament to arrive now, printer's all assembled. Should arrive by tomorrow, then we can do things.
Prepare for days of fine tuning and tweaking
After nearly 2 years I still tweak settings almost every time I print a new model :v:
