Anyone got a rec for a low budget/free recording software? I like the trial of Reason but I don't want to shell out £350 for it.
Halp :(
There's always Audacity

Scrapped my previous endeavors and churned out this track today in like 12 hours before work. My eyes hurt and I have a headache now, but let me know what you think! I love the increased activity of this post now :)

however as you can see they're not exactly in stellar shape. what should I use to clean these magnetic poles? the white's either corrosion of some sort or mold.
Not a guitarist but looks like corrosion from the way it's clustered around the metal. If it's mold I'd feel like you'd get whiffs of it randomly. This video looks pretty safe https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ov_J2iSljYo
It'd be cool if we had a more gear-oriented discussion, I'm a fucking wizard with synthesizers compared to my experience with production and wouldn't mind helping people out with tones.

The ring mod (?) stuff reminds me of something from Machinarium. The bass is a little big, see what you think when you feel better. Maybe try mono if it's a stereo track.

I ended up managing to clean them up with a rag, but after cutting out all the space to fit them into the guitar I noticed that sub-hairwidth wires going from the coil to the leads and broken off on both coils, at the starting end where I can't unwind any. well I guess I'm doing a different pickup setup with a new pickguard then :v:
I just got Ableton Live and I don't know where to start
the interface is not as intuitive as FLS

The midi clips and lack of 'patterns' was weird to me at first but I find mixing so much more intuitive on live.
Look up ableton live beginner tutorials on youtube.
I feel like I'm the only person to get the weirdest bugs that no one else encounters

First thing you should do is click the 3 horizontal bars in the top right, to put it into arrangement view. From there you can just hover over anything and read the text in the bottom left box to learn what it does.

the piano roll is giving me more trouble than it should tbh, the rest seems pretty straightforward

I highly suggest looking at tutorials/guides just to get familiar with the beast.

First Track: Your piano rolls are so crisp and absolutely beautiful... literally can't find anything wrong with this. I'm very jealous of your piano abilities.
Second Track: This is exactly how I feel most nights when I've stayed up longer than I should and im contemplating sleeping for the next 20 hours. awesome work i love the rhode chords too.
Third Track: Pretty crazy awesome stuff. Reminds me of Glitch Mob meets Gramatix.
Overall, I want your skill. Keep making music, man!

Check under the settings of the plugin wrapper. You've probably got the output set to 1, which means it will output the audio on the mixer track +1 above what you've got it set to. It's normally under "processing" or something along those lines. Kontakt does this in FL for me.

I'm a sucker for stuff like this, really loving all the ambiance going on. Really nice use of subtle panning as well <3
Anyway, since I haven't been in here forever, here's what I've been up to lately. I'd like some feedback given this is me experimenting with new stuff:

Coming from FLS as well, I would rather say it's just entirely different :v: Once you get used to it it is very intuitive (IMHO).

Thanks man! I appreciate it. Your song is really cinematic. I like it. I suck at using vocals but apart of me thinks areas of them are too loud but overall that was a great track.

Can you use headphones please?
Also, your rhythm gets stale. The first one is 50 seconds of the same thing over and over. You gotta vary things up. Spend time throughout your day tapping with your hands, changing it up as you go. Get good at improvising rhythm, then bring rapping back into the equation. Other than that, you've improved a lot since your previous videos and while you've started vocalizing louder, you still need some more power. Annunciation would help as well, but that's a stylistic choice.

If you want people to take your music seriously you need to invest in the least a decent microphone to start out with. Too many soundcloud rappers think you can slap a phone recording of your voice over a track and expect it to sound appealing. I'm not saying this to be a dick, but more you have talent so why not take the production seriously? You have pretty good lyrical skill but really push yourself to stop making mixtapes with the beat playing through your phone. More underground rappers would be famous if they took production seriously. Have your instrumental friend slap that shit on a project file and you'd have a pretty good rap song my man.

Hey guys so there haven't been any new posts here, but I wanted to share that I was finally able to get my Entering The Void track i posted here before onto Spotify and Google Store along with itunes, etc. You can find me by searching Chronic Synths. It's been a good day considering I was doubting continuing with music. <3

Mastered up my track and I'm pretty happy with it. DROP YO CONTENT PEOPLE.
Oh, hey guys! I accidently life but now I'm back on track. No music made, but hey it's nice to be back here at least :) Sorry about not answering PMs, y'all still wanna make that collab album?
We'll set a new date and people can either resubmit something new (noticed I had 5 pms with tracks) or keep their old tracks?
Album collab?
we used to do a lot of those
https://facepunchcollaborative.bandcamp.com/
it died out after a while, there's been a couple people trying to start a new one every now and then, including skeeter, but it's never really gotten far
there were 2 in 2014 and 1 in 2015 but i dont think we've had any since

Wow I see it goes way back. I see your Intergalactic Interference track. This is some cool stuff. I'd love to pitch in for a new collab
Also I'm working right now on a Stranger Things theme remix type thing. Maybe if this album gets rolling I can throw a song or 2 even in.
https://clyp.it/0j5pz53r
yeah if it happens i'll throw a track in as well, don't think i've missed a single one since the original
well except for those concept album ones that akayz did because those were a mess
i hope we keep the rule of "if you send a track, you have to give feedback on all of the other ones when it comes out" because we did that for the last couple of albums and it was very nice
oh man i never participate in this forum or make any music, but i just got a copy of audacity and a few weekends off, so if this thing is happening i am so on board
Do samples have to be authorized for this sort of thing?
What should the peak amplitude of submissions be?
Can I submit anything?
How much can I submit?
Who do I send it to?
