just PM your track to skeeter

When would be the deadline be? I'm currently mastering a bunch of tracks for an LP release and really want to create something new for this.

there's no deadline right now but at least before the end of the year is what i'd say

Great! Plenty of time to cook something up.
By the way guys, I made a discord server a year ago basically everything to do with music production. From a business sense in regards to how to get signed and from a creative sense.
If you guys would like somewhere to talk to other musicians and share your music, this is the place. Feel free to join!
You might want to unpack those monitors. A lot of your low-bass / bass tones are muddy and off key. I really like the bell synth loop for its plucked sound, but it seems to take a backseat whereas it could've been more prominent in the song's mix. Also, for the synthesizer you're using for the lead, I'm not sure if you're using an automated low pass or some sort of ring mod, but it ruins whatever little fatness it had in the first place.
It's not terrible, but the mixing and songwriting is quite flawed atm.

Interesting use of synths, seems very medieval to me cause it sounds like you're using the melodic minor. Seems like a game OST kinda song.
Hey we had the same thoughts on my track. I totally agree though. My main headphones for some reason make everything in the left and right channel louder than everything else.
here's something i made in mind for a vocalist i know

I'm not really knowledgeable on electric guitars but the guitar that comes in at ~45 seconds seems really loud compared to the rest of the instruments. Maybe it's just me.
Here's a track I started yesterday:

here's another one I started the day before

i'd also be down to make a collab track for the album
The deadline for the collab album is at the end of november
That gives people a month to write some new music :)
So I've been mentioning this album project to yall for a while now and after a lengthy mixing and mastering process it's finally released! It's available everywhere including Spotify, iTunes, etc. so I'll include links there and a direct soundcloud link that'll playlist the whole album.
I'd love to get people's thoughts, however it is 9 tracks so I know that's a lot but feel free to comment, share your feelings on as many or as few as you like/listen to!

I really like the almost dissonant, lofi guitar production on goodbye memory, it reminds me of this dark, spacey atmospheric stuff I worked on a few years ago using only old drum machines and this crazy all-in-one guitar effects pedal. good times. great work!
Write some rap lyrics and spit some hot fire
The drums actually started out as me writing a beat for a rap me and a friend did for when we were cooking haloumi (I called the track haloumi wrap, because I am a stupid sucker for puns :v) so, not a terrible idea!
I can't put my finger on who this reminds me of. Even still, its really good. I'd say you need a little more variation on the drums. It felt like the entire song was building up to something but it kind of stays at one level.
Oh yeah I am notoriously bad at that, most of my stuff sort of builds up without a good payoff.
I took your advice to heart (or well, not the drums, because that's one thing I am trying to work on ; limiting myself, and I figured the drums were a good place to start. Keep it simple, keep it the same and let the rest of the instruments do the work, sort of. I agree though, and I will remember your words in the future when I'll inevitablely go back in a few years and work on it more.
the rest of the track has a really cool psychedelic vibe but the sound of the distortion guitars doesn't really fit that feel, they're very clean and clear while everything else is drenched in that wet psychedelia
maybe a bit more variety on the melodic side too but since it's only 3 minutes it's not that big of an issue
I agree, it kinda blends like oil and water. Here's the track, with added melodic instruments and hopefully, a more well-mixed approach with the distorted guitars.

I think the synths here are just... wow, pure fucking sex. And with the drums, and the way you've built the track? Amazing.
I fucking adore the drop at the start, holy shit man!
Is there any plans on what you've got in mind for this track? Because right now it has a very cool soundtrack feel to it, and I would love to see where you can take it.
Only thing I can think of is maybe having something fill up the spot in the upper areas, I think the tremolo-sounding synth does a good job of the middle register with the strings as well.
Overall, beautiful track and I've shown it to a couple of people who I think might dig it as much as I do :)

Okay just read that any genre is allowed, and most previous albums have had electronic music. I'll aim for something similar, but it'll probably have a hip hop influence.

That actually sounds really cool. A bunch of the synths sound like they're straight out of goldeneye. Not really anything to critique except maybe the sub could be louder, might just be hard to hear with these breaking headphones.

The synths in this are really nice. That flute(pitched down?) really sounds awesome in the rest of the mix, provides some great atmosphere. It's not my kind of style, normally I'd say the breaks are a bit too much but I'm not sure with this.

Yeah I think the only thing that is consistent with the collab album is that there's never any telling what music genres are going to be present.
Ok that and that the quality is amazing.
Oh, and that Hakita (that's you! :oo) will make a track that's roughly 1/3rd of the length of the album.

I like the vibe of the track, but perhaps making the bass a little more straight would make it a little more dancable. I tried playing guitar over it but I couldn't find any center of the groove. The drums seem to imply 4/4 but your bass is playing differently.
It's a cool grove without the bass tho.

maybe shave off some 5-7k, comb the hats to find it - could be my speakers but the hats are a little harsh
kicks punch through as they should though, the synth layering is tasty (maybe a bit more filtering/phasing?) and the spectrum's filled nicely. space is designed nicely too!

I'm having trouble finding a certain type of analog audio mixer for my use. Can someone recommend me something that has at least four stereo fader with each having a separate in/out plugs? A plus would be if each fader also had a pan knob and a simple EQ, but that's not important. If there really isn't anything like that I'd rather build one myself and design it so that it can be modular.

I sort of dig stuff with high attack like that synth, makes things feel disjointed yet cohesive. I like what's going on with the vocal scratching though, adds a really nice texture in the background. Definitely looking forward to how this one sounds after you're done with the mixdown.

Well first of, I have to say that the beat is solid af. The hihat is pretty much how I imagine the sound of the perfect hihat for electronic music.
I think having the synth change the attack of it could do some pretty cool stuff to truly spice up the song structure! I also believe that something else to occupy the mid/high register could make shit even cooler, since the part starting at 1:30 is probably where it peaks for me.
I've no idea what music genre this is so I could be way off with how it's supposed to sound, I think something melodic that puts a flow into the track could be really cool too. This will probably fix my mention of the high/mid issue as well, since you'd probably want something up high when the bottom of the track is already so juicy and good.

The chord progression is strange, and because of how it flows it becomes really groovy. Nice! While I enjoy a cool backbeat hihat, the particular sample is kinda... meh? It lacks clarity I think. The kick however? Mmmmhm! A real juicy piece of pie is what I say.
I'm curious, how would the clap sound if you had a pretty fat reverb on top of it? As in, you send the clap track to a different channel and put down a reverb, that's about as long as half a bar (let's say the track is 120bpm, that makes one bar 2 seconds. That'll make the reverb 1 second long) and fiddle with it so that it's audible, but not overbearing.
The sounds that come in at 0:32 is really nice! I would love to see more of it, it adds a lot. Sort of like a drop almost!
Are you planning on having something else on top of all this? It is very bass/mid right now and I think having something to cut through, make the various segments really shine and get a red thread going. It's very much like a motor now and a good one at that, it needs a hood though.

I've revisited an old chord progression, but with a completely new sound to it (I'm addicted to dreamy guitars, layered to hell and back, doomy distorted guitars in the background and a melodic guitar on top of it that's nothing like the rest. Oh, and my Very Own drumkit (Thank you hands, feet and my bedroom wall. Oh, and my cup, thank you.)

I thought you were about to play creep cause of the first two chords. For me, it almost feels like 4 minutes of build up. The guitar playing is very good though, I feel like adding a delay to the "snare" 3:23 would be cool. Or having moments where the drums lead up to parts more, like having an 8 bar lead up to "big" parts.

Haha, the last chord is the third chord of the creep chord progression so... Not too far of! Those are some really good tips, I can definietly agree with that it does sound like a 4 minute buildup without any real climax.

I really dig the layered guitars, and how the parts fit together. Nothing sounds out of place, not even the homemade drums!!! (I'm jelly, congrats).
The trills around 1:08 - 1:20 are spicy, and it's a nice lil showcase of your technical ability.
The transition starting at 1:50 is smooth, and doesn't sound forced at all which is great. Then it goes into some pretty arps which are exactly on tempo and good in every other aspect. Then into some serious (but brief) jamming in the upper register at 3:21 WHICH IS SICK. DO MORE OF THAT NEAR THE END. I understand coming back down for the closer, but I feel like it had just finished climaxing and then put it's pants back on and went home. Don't do that to us. I can tell you can shred that geet much harder bro, so my only real suggestions would be: Write more complex melodies for yourself near the end, and possibly take it an octave higher when you're doing so to really get that "wow this guy is good" factor.
Other than that, I feel like some simple but moving vocals would play nicely into the mix in certain areas. I love how the guitars speak as it is, though. If I were being nitpicky I would have made the kick/drums a little louder, or just turned down everything else.
Overall: Good shit B) +Followed
Anyone in here do remixes? I'm interested in different interpretations of some of my tracks and thought itd be cool to reach out to any facepunchers. Maybe it could be added to the upcoming facepuncher collab.
Post the track you were thinking of and I can listen to see if I can flip it.
Side note: Anyone else struggle with lyrics? I'm having a hard time thinking of things just vague enough to apply to the masses but also precise enough to make at least some sense. Maybe this is the wrong approach, though. Thoughts?

Re: lyrics. Honestly lyrics are something I've never had trouble with, they reliably come to me on a regular basis. One thing I'd say that would help, is to reach out to other musicians/writers you know. You can send em what your ideas are so far and ask for either changes, additions or something totally new that comes to mind when hearing the music.

Damn, so i feel like i just got temporarily abducted, it was a pretty surreal aural experience for sure. Its like almost cyberpunky industrial music and you excel at creating trancey, full atmospheric pallettes for each song. They all sound coherent enough to go together but different enough in just the right way. I left a few more comments on sc. Totally interesting work and id definitely encourage you to dive into the sound, could imagine this being great indie game soundtrack work or at a crazy industrial club.
