uhhhh, is there like a minimum amount of feedback i have to give before i can post my own shit or.... i just came back to facepunch from like 3 years ago i used to post in here all the time
I started making beats again, what do y'all think? https://soundcloud.com/scrapstheplaguedoctor/promethazine
like the idea / vibe you've got going for it, would think about putting more emphasis on the mastering - drum and snare levels, any frequency overlap between the drums and bass tone. Would be cool to see what making some of the bass tones off beat and maybe experimenting with different notes and rhythms of the bass.
I love the cohesiveness dude, and the evolution of the track as it goes through the different ideas is something I really need to work on. I wish it had vocals, or some other leading instrument for some of it. [editline]17th December 2017[/editline] Here's a thing: Thoughts???
I like everything apart from the drums, they're far too weak for that almost anjunabeats sound you've got going - harder electro drums would be really cool to try instead, would nail that sound. Putting a bit more emphasis on the arpeggiated bass synth ( maybe totally replacing the bass synth ) would be cool as well, it's lost under all the other instruments moi stuff some sort of future house / dance song i've been tweaking occasionally over the last couple months, still feels a bit empty and unsure what to add in
wtf kind of attitude is that?
the attitude of a person who has spent plenty of time in here contributing and giving feedback before, i just don't understand the point Hakita is trying to make. i'm not saying hurr durr let me reach my feedback quota so i can toot my horn
the attitude of a person who has spent plenty of time in here contributing and giving feedback before, i just don't understand the point Hakita is trying to make. i'm not saying hurr durr let me reach my feedback quota so i can toot my horn
Just give feedback before a post, it's not hard
Just give feedback before a post, it's not hard
I kind of figured the feedback I gave literally 5 posts above mine would stand as pretty obvious feedback given before I posted my own shit
I like it/ i would love to sample it is nice, but I wouldn't really count it as feedback
I kind of figured the feedback I gave literally 5 posts above mine would stand as pretty obvious feedback given before I posted my own shit
my bad then, it wasnt in the same post so i didn't notice it
Nah it was shitty feedback I just came in here still feeling like a regular from back when people just kind of posted their shit and nobody minded as long as they contributed. I get the deal now
Nah it was shitty feedback I just came in here still feeling like a regular from back when people just kind of posted their shit and nobody minded as long as they contributed. I get the deal now
the reason we started the rule is because back then people would just post their music and bail, nobody would get feedback because the vast majority of people dont give any unless they need to
Yeah I totally get it, the belt just needed to been tightened a little bit. That's fair
moi stuff some sort of future house / dance song i've been tweaking occasionally over the last couple months, still feels a bit empty and unsure what to add in
This is really nicely mastered, love the kinda vintageness on the samples used, great job my man. I posted a few wips on my souncloud but this is the latest, stuff from the newest album coming up, let me know what you guys think!
Edit: A tip I learned from one of my instructors is to count along with your steps in your head when you are walking somewhere. I usually let my steps fall on beats 1 & 3 when counting 1-2-3-4 as I walk.
I actually do this when I run long distances to keep me going. So maybe that's a good music and exercise tip!
Yeah I totally get it, the belt just needed to been tightened a little bit. That's fair
I think the problem is that many people just want exposure instead of participating. This is the only place I've found where I can get real feedback y'know?
I think the problem is that many people just want exposure instead of participating. This is the only place I've found where I can get real feedback y'know?
Yeah man I totally agree. I just remember way back when I frequented Facepunch it wasn't so saturated and it wasn't as strict of a rule (you know, like if you weren't participating and were spamming your shit it would be very obvious and you would get put on blast).

I mean that in a totally good way. The whole thing flows really well, whatever sample that was the made me feel something in my gut, dunno why. The variety you made with the percussion/sound effects really keeps the track interesting. Did you sample the guitar or record it yourself?
I started making beats again, what do y'all think? https://soundcloud.com/scrapstheplaguedoctor/promethazine
lol this is sick i enjoy that you are always changing the beat as it progresses. however, the energy of the piece is carried entirely by the first sample. break from that more, explore the unknown. thanks for sharing man [editline]20th December 2017[/editline]
moi stuff some sort of future house / dance song i've been tweaking occasionally over the last couple months, still feels a bit empty and unsure what to add in
great work, this is catchy and the humor of the voice carries a lot of energy come cowbell at 2:45 is a good place to insert another riff with a new 'instrument' reentry around 3:27 can be more badass i like the 'gameboy noises' at 4:30 breakdown at 5:40 is spot on tbh consider making the comeback at 6:06 complete different, just keep the vibe keyboard blips at 6:40 are very good, tones down energy perfectly 7:09 drum outro is fleek do something at the end (7:30) maybe sample a flute at some point during the song i enjoyed listening to this [editline]20th December 2017[/editline]
This is really nicely mastered, love the kinda vintageness on the samples used, great job my man. Got that dirty ass sub in the back but feels like the low-end should be coming through more to give it that 'Womp'. Other than that, perfect stuff. Also to answer your question, Its a mix of sampling and live playing. I have the equipment set up to play and record such things but my skills are not too good at the moment. So some people might not know me from this but, I actually have a popular meme track called Succ I released a few years ago, just released a remix to this track basically totally redefining it. and if you didn't see old succ
Well I really dig your stuff and I'd love to work with you sometime in the near future. I'm jealous as fuck of the hype that Succ My Life has, damn. I prefer the newer version, it's got a lot of unique experimental sounds. Neither of the songs are really something I'd listen to, but the production is good enough that I would want to adapt and work with to sort of branch out. I've been trying to sing more instead of just rapping, and I can see myself doing so over a lot of your tracks that I'm hearing. I gave you a follow on Soundcloud. Looking at most of your tracks, your like/play ratio is super impressive. This is a track that kind of provides an idea of the other shit I'm capable of than just angry rap: This is the kind of shit I'd really like to do with you some time if you are down.

I actually was looking to get into starting to work with somebody who will be up for laying down some bars on some of the more beat-"hip hop"-experimental stuff I'm testing the waters with right now. I actually have master plans for most of what you want to collaborate with. Your style you are going with is great but I can see where your art would benefit with a little more production behind the beats and venturing off a little into the experimental side. You should hit me up via the PM's with your discord/steam and I'll let you in on the new album that I'm currently producing.

Everything on my Soundcloud is old and produced with shitty equipment, I have improved tenfold recently so I think I'm a pretty good asset, especially once I get my new microphone and can get a dedicated producer at my side. I'll PM you my Discord, I'd love to talk more.
pls review
cheers for the feedback I'm getting jack johnson with a deeper voice; obviously the camera recording doesn't do it justice. The song itself doesn't seem like it has any issues, would love hear what it sounds like recorded in ableton. Vox is good, would maybe only suggest being really smiley when recording & keeping mouth wide to brighten it but whether that's just the recording being crud is debatable. Feels like it has a parisian vibe similar to this
pls review
You should make an album. Your writing is lovely. Nice guitar. Would love to hear this recorded with an actual microphone.
thanks for the kind words. they are encouraging :) your soundcloud link is broken edit: i had fun listening to this. it comes in very nicely, i was amazed. i like its length. it could be part of something longer too. but as it is, it is quite nice.
Privated tracks don't go well with the tags (I tried), but other than that: I really like the track - it reminds me of something I'd find on the OSTs of Katamari, Jet Set Radio, or Sonic Rush (I'm pretty sure the last two had the same composer). If it were me, I would make the tempo a little bit faster to lock in that feeling. Actually, I'd like to know the name of the instrument that is played around the 0:43 mark. I've heard the same thing in this track: However, I'd try an instrument like an electric guitar or something, since I think it would fit better with the overall track. I don't know. I'm probably wrong there.
pls review
I'm not that good with judging singing but the guitar though is really nice. Definitely something I would sample. Even off that video and microphone.
My friend showed me that video the last time I took acid. Changed my goddamn life
Actually, I'd like to know the name of the instrument that is played around the 0:43 mark. I've heard the same thing in this track.
Thank's for the comments. I forgot about this banger. My brass sounds were actually inspired by Justice and are in fact a reaktor block patch.
Any advice on getting out of an 8 month art block?
Any advice on getting out of an 8 month art block?
Do some drugs, go and seek a novel, exciting, traumatizing, or life-changing experience, do some things you have never done before, get your heart broken, learn how to lucid dream and write music in your dreams, collaborate with somebody else... I'll edit this if I can think of any more
