Honestly this is one of the first times I've actually spent a decent amount of time to listen to this type of music, and I do not regret it. The crazy syncopation and "IN YOUR FACE" sounds kinda pull on my stomach at times, but I find the music very thrilling and it just adds to that feeling. Very well done on this track, I wish I could do this type of stuff. I feel like it takes a lot of time and practice, going more in-depth with music theory. Am I wrong? I'm taking some theory classes now, but I'm kind of a newbie. If anyone is into acoustic punk/rock, I just wrote a song a few days ago and had a surge of creativity to finish a decent demo. (I own a $100 condenser and an audiobox usb.) The guitar track is pretty wet, but it was kind of intended. I just put the emphasis on the vocals for now until I iron out some lead parts and percussion with my buddy. https://withcleareyes.bandcamp.com/releases
thanks a bunch. Fun Fact: I failed music theory. Most of this is just intuition.

If you want to go full bedroom mode, get yourself a 4 track tape recorder and make an album a month. :v:

I have recently made some connections with people who are setting up a high end home studio, but yeah, most of my stuff will probably be similar to this for now. Thanks for the feedback.
Man that's cool, I like the clarity of the sounds that come in at 0:09. Also I think the volume of the opening square is fine, it all blends nicely. My college band director is looking for our show this fall. He came across a show that he likes but needs some edits made. So I transcribed a section of one of the movements and re-arranged the woodwinds to play a different chorale. It's supposed to remind you of the threat of nuclear war in the 1950's. I think I did a pretty good job. Original https://youtu.be/VT9AT5OY24o?t=3m25s
Sounds like Dongstep to me. I want to get into sampling things from the field aka parks, my university. Any ideas on which mic is best for field recording?

Then like bury your matter cassette in the backyard or let a cigarette burn next to it to really dirty it up. :v: [Sp]the last part won't do anything to your sound.[/sp]
Is there any place where I can download all those samples that are on keyboards like the yamaha DJX? I do have a djx but I really don't want to go and record every sample using my awful and noisy line-in.

If so, probably no one has made it since it is a pretty forgettable synth, and also it is a rompler if I remember correctly. There are a bunch of software romplers that are of very famous analog synths, think jupiter 8, minimoog, arp 2600, etc, but probably none of hardware romplers. Stuff like Omnisphere, Nexus, and some Kontakt packs come to mind if you want a nice rompler in software.
I feel like you could probably experiment with it just for the hell of it, but honestly it sounds really epic on its own, really loving the warmth of that piano. Here's something I finished after having massive music block for the past 3 months, its already almost been a year since I started!
I love how much depth and detail this has, i can never get that kind of sound [editline]27th February 2016[/editline] [editline]27th February 2016[/editline] Here's a little thing I've been working on

Like you have a wave that hints at evolving sounds, but no sound in your piece evolves.
Modulation?
You know like have very low frequency oscillators modulate stuff like the pitch of some of the oscs, filter cutoff/resonance, have things swell up, maybe some crunchy delays, etc. The sound is very static as it is, even though the context of the rest of the piece alludes to movement.

My Ableton trial ran out today, so I decided to buy the "Intro" edition and see how that is. This is so bare-bones compared to what they gave you before in the trial. It looks like unless I want to spend another $600 for the "Suite" version, there won't be a whole lot I can do. Just seems like a lot of money to invest in something, I'm not sure I will get that kind of value out of. Do you guys use the "Suite" edition, or have you gotten around that?
Not sure that'd I'd enjoy writing music in it more than Ableton, but damn Reaper is amazing for chopping up and exporting foley sessions. Automatically slicing a recording based on where it's silent + batch export made something that took me 2ish hours in Ableton only take 15-20 mins in Reaper. Color me impressed.

I would love to have a Korg DW-8000
Is there a reason there's such a difference in price between Ableton and Reaper? I'm more prone to sticking with Ableton for now, because I've been learning how to use it the past month, and don't want to learn another new program.
About as much difference as there is between Adobe Photoshop CS6 and Adobe Photoshop CC.

You do not have to use ableton though, all DAWs can allow you to make good music, so it really comes down to preference. If you like the way ableton is laid out, but don't like the price, check out Bitwig. It's made by ex-ableton devs and is structured in almost the same way, but is a lot cheaper, $299 for the full, non education version.
About as much difference as there is between Adobe Photoshop CS6 and Adobe Photoshop CC.
Pardon my ignorance, but are these two very similar products, or vastly different ones?
Pardon my ignorance, but are these two very similar products, or vastly different ones?
They're the same. CS6 was $699 and CC is a $15 subscription. They price it so high to offset pirating (which only encourages pirating more).
I'm gonna give the Reaper 60-Day trial a go, and see how I like it. I feel kinda silly now for spending $90 to get the Ableton starter pack, but oh well.

A friend of mine asked if I ever wrote stoner/doom stuff like Electric Wizard, Sleep, Conan and so forth. I told him I don't know and that I should, so... I gone did something. It turned out that it's also a completely new scale I've never worked in, so any thoughts on how the barebone of rhythm guitars, bass and drums sound would be very much welcomed. :)

I really like it though! Here's something I wrote with the only purpose being to write something in the harmonic minor, although the piece ending up having a violin playing in the d melodic minor over a piano playing a d minor chord. With a random change to a filtered harp playing in A natural minor

The piano fits very nicely with your sorrow-filled( in a good way) violin arrangement. Anything with a darker tone, usually sits well in my books, and this is one of them. The last part though, was a nice little piece, but didn't feel at home with the rest of the song. Maybe try a different transition between the two sections. I wanted to take a break from all the dark/heavy synth work I've been doing lately, and make something a little more fun. The 80's have been on my mind a lot, and Hotline Miami's soundtrack is what got me into all of this, so I whipped this little piece up today. It's nothing special, and it's trying to be somewhat generic, but it's a fun listen.

I love those toms. The synths themselves sound good but feel a little non-distinct from one another, I think decreasing the attack time on the higher pitched synths just a little would be nice. You're backing sounds like a good start so far, as well. Keep it up.
Thanks man! What do you mean by "decrease the attack" on the one synth, though? You're backing sounds like a good start so far, as well. Whats a great midi keyboard? Price range 100-300 euros. I've been looking around a bit but I'd be interested to hear if u guys have suggestions [editline]3rd March 2016[/editline] I currently have an Akai LPK25, while the small size is fun it also feels limiting being only two octaves. Also its OLD and getting full of poop
