anybody have any ideas for recreating the sidechained synth that comes in right at the beginning of this?
i'm quite worried that this is the song with the most views on my soundcloud it's a steaming pile of shit I made in 10 minutes

Thinking about picking up the Drums again, I played them back in 2014 and had Actual Drums and an Electronic set. I want to get the Electronic Set again as it would be easier to record with, as in the future, I would like to record drums for people. The Electronic Set I had was a Yamaha dtx450k, I think it's a bit dated right now, so I am thinking about getting either the DTX522k or the DTX532k. My budget is 1 thousand 5 hundred, both fit it. What are you lots opinion on those? And Yahama in general. If you have other electronic sets that you'd think I should get instead, let me know. Also how is Roland? Yamaha is just a brand I know as my Moms piano is a Yamaha, and she likes Yamaha in general. Never looked at a Roland. I want the most I can get out of 1 thousand 5 hundred (Australian Dollars btw)

Get a roland, anything electronic drums related they are well renowned for - both machines and kits.
Ditto, while Yamaha is generally better at keyboards, they can't beat Roland V-drums. A TD-11K or 11KV is roughly within the same price range and should serve you well.
Could someone give me some information as to what Roland does better than Yamaha? Also with Electronic Drums, I do want the ability to record a little bit, play it, then add onto it. So like, say I put down the main rhythm, I record it. Then after some inspiration, I listen to it, record another part, and it adds to it. Does that make sense? I know it's easier to do it on PC but still the feature would be nice, not really a selling point so it isn't major. But there is a major selling point, it would be the ability to record it directly to computer. Also, why do some Electronic Drumsets have 4 Cymbals (High Hat, Crash, Splash and Ride) while some only have 3 (High Hat, Crash, Ride), I would prefer an Electronic Drumset to have the same amount as "Parts" as a normal drum. I do know it differs. If it matters (Which by the way, does it matter?) then I would be looking at that as a Major selling point as well. I am looking for a set that includes both, or at least the kick pedals, the chairs shouldn't be too expensive.
Oh right, another thing I am looking for, not a major buying point btw, is the ability to use custom sounds on each piece. Idk, I think it would be fun to screw with.
anyone have any good tips / resources for singing and how to practice? i really want to get better at it, but i don't really know a daily practice routine that would get me results. i pretty much just try to cover songs and record myself.
anyone?
Roland is better build quality, lasts longer, samples are of better quality as well
Mind if I add you on steam so you can help me find a good one? Since we are both Australians it would be easier too rather than just saying "It goes over budget" every time due to different currencies.
Just got my barely used Rig Kontrol 2 today - I got it in place of the Scarlet 2i2. It is great, and now I'll have to practice guitar more so I can start recording myself. It's got really low latencies - by default I got it down to 8ms and if I wanted to I could probably get it lower. Someone come to my house and record some riffs for me.
I am leaning towards the Roland TD-11KV but possibly TD-11K. Only thing that is keeping me interested in the KV is the Mesh Drums as they are easy to replace if broken. Is it possible to replace any broken drum on the K? Or would I have to buy a new kit? Also how is a 11K (or KV) for long term? I want to buy a set of Electronic Drums that will last be years, if not forever. Also, what amp should I get with it? [editline]23rd April 2016[/editline] Also is it possible to upgrade parts to newer parts? Like the Computer...box (Don't know the name) on the side? Or would I be stuck with it?
Holy crap that is WAVY, I am digging it. I think the snare is perfectly fine. I think that the bass after 0:55 gets a bit repetitive (using one note?) and can benefit from a little gliding in places. I put together a list of items needed for my home studio goal, that I want to be able to start putting together in about 5 years. (Some items will probably change with the passing years but it's a good template.) I'm setting it up so that 4 people can play into a digitally closed loop space so there's no amplifiers shaking my house foundations and pissing off my neighbors, and everyone can control the levels of each instrument being played individually, based on the standard mix set by the central box which feeds into a PC, allowing full-band simultaneous recording or individual tracking. So, I can have up to 4 people come in and we can jam, without disturbing anyone outside of the studio room. It's gonna be pretty expensive, hence the 5 years out goal, but I think it's worth it. If you have any recommendations on equipment, or optimization of this layout, please let me know! [t]http://i.imgur.com/R7ggQJu.png[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/3BfV5k0.jpg[/t]
-snip, amazon can't ship to Australia- On long term, is the TD-11k (or KV) any good?
-snip, amazon can't ship to Australia- On long term, is the TD-11k (or KV) any good?
It's amazing. I'm trying to find cheaper components/considering not getting a new guitar so I can get it instead of the Alesis I have on the list. I've played it numerous times at a guitar center near me, it's seriously so expressive and natural feeling, both in physical response as well as the obvious audio response. Hard recommendation.

I really like the voice bitcrunch effect at :50 seconds. Not very helpful I guess but I can't really hear anything sonicly wrong with the song on my studio monitors. This is the first time I am finally comfortable with music theory and feel like I understand song structure and harmony a lot better than I did 6 months ago. I feel like I really am improving. It's a little bit random but there's definitely a structure there and a sense of progression which is good. That being said, personally I think it's still musically immature. The devil is in the details - adding some dynamics to your song would do a lot as well as cleaning up the mix. The sounds you've chosen are cheesy in the sense that they are very 80s sounds. I encourage you to keep working at it and don't be discouraged if people don't like your stuff right now, a lot of the foundation of production is sadly technical as well as musical, and it's only when you feel comfortable in both that you start getting a more professional sound. In my case, I can't really say much because I think the nature of tech house is that it's repetitive. I'm more attracted to songs to put me in a certain mood and dance tracks typically don't do that, because there's not much of an evolution or story that I can hear. Maybe you could change it up if you feel similarly, or, if that's the vibe you're going for, more power to you. And lastly, would like some feedback on my second remix. Supposed to be an alternative style of dance music i guess
Somewhat-fan of tech house. The initial loop you start with is a little bit too repetitive - techno/tech house is supposed to be repetitive, but if not done really well it can get kind of tiring listening to the same melody over and over. There might also be more you could do with the intro than just adding in a new layer of drums every 8 bars. It gets really good when everything starts kicking in about halfway through the song. Seems like you could have done a little bit more with it and extended the song by a bit, but it's good. I made jungle I guess https://soundcloud.com/grandmamax/you-werent-listening
