Make a video of you releasing them all at once, that would be awesome.

There wouldn't be that many. They've only been hatching a couple each day, not all at once. And i release them the second they hatch since they don't live very long as moths due to them no longer have a digestive system at that point.
How about making a video of releasing just a few then?
whoa, nice job

it wouldn't be so much releasing as it would be placing. They're pretty chill usually so I just take them out to the woods and place them in various hiding places.
inject them into your arm
get super powers

you can unleash a HORRIBLE WAVE OF HARMLESS CATERPILLARS ON YOUR ENEMIES!

It's like if the killer bee plasmid from bioshock had a brother who was depraved of oxygen at birth.
Timelapse of moth growing out it's wings.

This is really cool. a shame i didn't start filming sooner when it had even smaller wings.
Next time I'll try for a sooner start + better lighting and angle. They hatched really early today. Five in all, three male, 2 female.
It looks slightly timelapsed. How long would you say that took all together?
oh yeah i forgot to mention it's a timelapse video. The real length was around 35+ minutes. Watching the video in normal speed at the start I was actually able to see the wings growing, just a little bit.
Reminds me of the time my bro was raising a couple dozen Painted Lady butterflys. They leave a bloody mess when they break out. Literally.
I'll do one next.
Should I raise 412 Cecropia's?
Or 412 Hickory Horned Devil's?
Whoa whoa what the shit
His event log says he was banned two months ago, how'd he post a day ago?
He circumvented the laws of time and space.

hax most likely
That is very nice work my friend. Maybe you should study them a bit more? Why not breed them for some of their traits like that one with the weird colored wings. I would try it my self ,but sadly there are none around here.
Postal how can you stand to hold bugs in your hands? I would never be able to do it.

It's something you need to get used to first.
I am not going to hold spiders of any description however. Dosn't matter if you plan on killing me if I don't, I'm not doing it. I hate them. They look disgusting.
Lots of updates today.
Had 9 hatch all at once today. 6 male, 3 female

Here's a cocoon starting to tear open

By looking closely at them as they worked there way out i figured out how they cut open the cocoon. They have two, small, dark, fang-like objects on the left and right behind the base of their head. They work these side to side to cut it open.

Once it's wide enough, they just pop out

I had this guys cocoon propped up a bit so I could get the light on it better. When he popped out though the cocoon toppled over sideways (he didn't land on his face though) but i still got a rather funny picture of him falling over to the side after emerging

Here's a close up shot of the antenna of a male luna moth

And finally, another time lapse video of three growing out their wings until my camera run out of film (ffffuck)

A lot more are hatching than you originally predicted after the freeze.
Why don't they have digestive systems? Just the way evolution fucked them over?
And how long do they live after they hatch?

They are like Mayflies it would seem. They go through their larval and pupal stages, and when they reach adult stage, they have 6 hours to find a GF. Glad I'm not one.

Bout a week.
The videos were cool as fuck to watch
can go ahead and add 30 to the luna moth count.
19 hatched yesterday (while i was sleeping in ffff), and 11 hatched today.
Their wings have neat designs

Kinda looks like a single leaf hanging from a tree.
Also good thing about having tons of lunas, is plenty of second chances to get that picture you wanted.

bursts out to freedom
those designs on them look cool
Hehe he's got your eyes.
