Some of them are getting pretty huge but there's still a few that are extremely small. I guess thats just the difference five days of growth makes.
pretty good dude
dont see anything like this in the uk
Sadly these moths only live about a week after they come out of their cocoons D:
Nice Pics! I wish they were more common around where I live. I've yet to see one. I've seen one of those Atlas Moths years ago. They're big too, but not as attractive.
Luna Moths were almost put into extinction from pesticides. Glad to see you've got bushels of them :D
Build them a little card disco with a bar.
I get all itchy reading this thread
aaaaawweeessomme
They're beautiful...

''Don't worry, it's the personality that counts.''
dumb comment: wait until they all grow up to full size, yummy!
serious comment: imagine when they will all get their wings, you should open the cage at this moment and watch then fly away!
ayo gimme one of dem
Seriously I love little creatures like that :3:
Hey postal. I'm glad you're doing the bug thing again. Seems like you went on a hiatus but you're back!
Wow! That is Extremely Awesome!!!!
How many of these are still alive?
Too many to accurately count?
I cannot believe this atrocity is happening, and conducted by the so called animal expert on this forum. Postal, do you realize what you are doing is a destructive force toward our habitat? You are willing to go to lengths so large in order to achieve personal pleasure? Humans are not supposed to interfere with the lives of other creatures in such ways. Doing so leads to severe and irreversible damage to the enviroment and can have everlastind destruction towards the future of Earth's creatures. Postal, I urge you to rethink your actions and try to do other things that will not harm our planet.

412 caterpillars will adversely affect the world even though there are about 313,034,796,435 other insects all over the goddamn place
get a grip, jesus
my friend's aunt has been raising those things for like 3 years. I freaked the fuck out when one landed on me

Sweetheart, this is a batch of 200 moths.
An area the size of Manhattan gets chopped down daily.
Perhaps you should focus your precious energy somewhere else. Somewhere where it would be more productive and less annoying.

That post sounds very familiar, as if it's copy-pasted from a dramatic show or something.
Holy wow. This is awesome.
If I wasn't so creeped out by creepy crawlies, this would definitely be something I want to do. Those catepillars are extremely cute and that moth is gorgeous.
You should definitely have someone recording the big day when you release them as moths.
Or you could probably manage to get your story in the lighter side of your local news. Not many people do cool stuff like this and it'd be neat to have a camera crew there to record you releasing them. :]

You do realise they don't eat when they're butterflies, right? The only thing that might influence it is how much offspring they produce, but considering it'd be in the wilds, you'd lose a significant portion to predation (Especially if they're clumped in a small area, as birds are going to be attracted to what is, essentially, an all you can eat smorgasbord).
I love being a Zoologist who does Ecology on the side :3
How's it coming along?
so ~#kawaii#~ <^_^>
Ten days without an update!
Please keep us informed.
This is just awesome!
LARGE OP
