Both of these are Japanese mecha designs. A vast amount of Battletechs original artwork was ripped straight from Robotech/Macross. That which wasn't was heavily inspired by Gundam and other contemporary anime.
Modern Battletech STILL uses modified Macross designs. For instance:
Macross, Destroid Tomahawk

Battletech, Warhammer

These plagiarized designs are what got and has continued to get the Battletech franchise into legal issues. A lawsuit over this matter is seemingly why Mechwarrior 5 was canceled.
In short Battletech (at least Battletech from the era you posted) is a fucking horrible argument for, "cool and aweosme western mech designs that don't look like faggy emo shit that jap designs."

Madcats are still really awesome.

as you can see battletech was first since their pictures are monochrome.
See how west revolutionizes and makes the crotch hardpoint as realistic and practical than it actually is. The mechs in deveolpment today by the armies are using crotch hardpoints cause the offer great support and stability
I just can't tell if you're joking or not Everybody.
They look like a joke and your post sounds like a joke. But you still seem serious.
they are completely practical designs compared to what crazy retarded looking shit the japs pull out of their squinty ass

I did that paint job on purpose. the idea was to have painterly style figures I wanted blobs of paint on some parts it was intentional . I know to paint warhammer and have done layering with detailing too including snow grass and rocks.
I don't need to be told what I should do on my own art it's my decision to create my own original artwork.
and I'm not having a go at you I'm just saying.

I thought that second comment was anything but constructive. In fact it was downright rude. Puddingcup is a young guy and not always the most tactful, so I apologize for the rudeness. I don't see any cause to defend that kind of bluntness either. Put your manners back in please.
I see what you're going for. It is certainly unorthodox but I applaud those who are bold enough to work completely outside of the square.
Definitely the Jackson Pollock of Gunpla, as mentioned twice already.
now i feel like an asshole.
Rightly so. Even if something looks like crayon vomit to you, it's rude to just come out and say so.
Look at the difference between my comment and yours, and think about the difference in how you would feel if someone said what you said and what I said, to you about your own work.
they look sort of like someone at lots of crayons them vomited on them. jokes. very unusual. :)

I'm proud of all my artwork that I have done, I'm mainly moving onto watercolour at the moment
here's one of the newest that I'm quite happy with. I used a pen ( fine liner or 0.3 to 0.7 pen ) drew from a small image in an artbook drew straight in pen no guidelines and nothing was drawn over. watercolour paint from japan and a 2 waterbrushes.
enjoy

the colours weren't from the reference they were from my own input and so was the shading
sure you can paint how you want
but this stuff doesn't even begin to look aesthetically pleasing. it looks like a migraine.
at least determine what palette you're going to use before hand, rather than literally slapping every colour on into some horrible muddy shitfest.

Is that Adell?
I'd cut down on the Alchemy work, stuff like that is incredibly easy to produce in that tool.
I think your biggest problem is your constructive drawing ability and your comprehension of light adn shadow. There are plenty of artist who shit all over their art with colors but they make it look good because they have an understanding of the value and saturation of the colors and how they work against a form.

Oh My God. There is no shortcut. You can't just slap random paint together and think it will look like a good abstract-portrait-ish work. You need to study hard no matter what you will going to draw. You need to learn color theory, you need to learn anatomy, you need to learn how paint works.
Take this for example:
http://ph3nf1x.deviantart.com/art/the-re-painters-313487587
It looks like shit (literally, like color of old shit in an alley) because you mixed cold and warm colors together. They will never give you a pleasant color to look at.
tl;dr: All forms of visual art require years of learning. Study hard or find a hobby that you will be willing to put your time into.

I like this one.
thank you mann :)
I'd suggest you focus less on the "post processing" aspect and more on the technical side, such as basic anatomy, perspective and composition. From your use of colours I can tell you've got some potential, but even with that in mind, check out some colour theory, I think it's very interesting and lots of fun (and definitely useful knowledge).

Also I like the legs on the right one, it looks nice without those armor plates
I've never bought a PG.. I would love to get one as it would be really fun to make.
have heaps of different smaller like 1/100 models but they get boring after a while
I'll probably looking into LBX's as they can be customized and shit like that.
I appreciate your comment man, I'll look into some colour exploration
I'll work on different colour works.
Thank you man.

hope you guys like it!
I don't really understand what your trying to do? at the minute these are just looking like random shapes with different opacity levels, which you then mirrored? I'm just not seeing much purpose at the minute
Trying out an abstract style of art man.
Don't post your art if you can't deal with negative comments.
There is no reason to post here if you don't want to listen to critique.
this is a place for feedback and people looking for improvement

That's a good point, I'll look into using colours that compliment each other.
also I'll try to learn anatomy and practice using the brushes

You've "dealt with it" by disregarding it. Any criticism can be useful, irrelevant of how it is presented. If someone says "this looks like shit" ask them why, and whatever reason they give no matter how crap it sounds keep it in mind and accept it the same as any critique.
As for my own opinion I think you need to settle down and do some practice work, shading circles and gradients etc.
