I've been working on this game over the last two years (it's been re-written from scratch at least 2 times) and since I'm getting close to a demo release, I figured it'd be okay to fire up a thread for it! What is Bulletin? "User accounts are being hijacked by a mysterious person, threads are being constantly derailed, shitposting has gone through the roof, our games are all over The Pirate Bay and to make things worse, our best moderator has gone missing. The end is nigh. " BULLETIN is an RPG about internet forums being made with Unity and MS Paint. I'm working on it with two of my friends and RJ Lake, one of the guys who made songs for Homestuck. I've always wanted to make an RPG about the internet culture. A crazy mix of the internet of the late 80s/early 90s and what the internet looks like today. A whole story inside an internet forum. Inspired by bulletin board systems, I even gave the game a name! September 4501, 1993. You and your dad have accidentally clicked a wrong link and ended up in an internet forum owned by a REALLY popular game development studio called "Pufferfish". Their greatest IP is MIGHTY BASS: the world's fastest and hottest first person fishing game. The first game in the series was a hit: everybody loved the frantic fishing action and the sick boat stunts. Mighty Bass 2 was an even better game, allowing players to rename their boats, customize their fishing rods and pull off even filthier boat tricks than before. Entire eSports teams were formed to compete in the World Mighty Bass 2 Championships. It was a fucking blast. Then came Mighty Bass 3: Fish Harder. and it sucked. hard. Featuring Day 1 DLC, no dedicated servers, horrible netcode and an in-game shop, with most of its content behind said shop. Also, players were no longer able to name their boats. Players agreed that number three was pretty awful and vowed to never buy any of Pufferfish's games again. By the time you and your dad arrive on the forum, Mighty Bass is getting rebooted: the new game, simply called MIGHTY BASS (all caps) is going to be released in aprox. one week. The userbase is divided: one half believes that the reboot is exactly what the franchise needs in order to recover. The other half remains skeptical and believes that the devs are just going to keep stuffing more and more dlc in it, just like the last one. This conflict results in a massive shitstorm: users are waging war, resorting to intense shitposting and spamming to make sure the other side does/doesn't preorder the game. Meanwhile, some users are reporting that a full version of the game has been leaked at a distant website. Rumors are going around that the moderation team is doing their best to silence these users by any means necessary. That's not all, though: Some parts of the forums are being spammed by oldtime posters and users who have passed away. Someone is, somehow, gaining access to these accounts and controlling them. The forum's greated mod, CHEMMAN2007, has mysteriously gone missing. He was last seen heading to an abandoned subforum, for reasons unknown. Word is going around the internet that an unidentified black cloud thingy is waddling around cyberspace, devouring entire servers and leaving nothing but an empty void in their places. Panic. Internet drama. Conspiracies. Shitposting. The internet as we know it may be coming close to an end. You have a very simple goal: Find a way out of Pufferfish Forums. It will feature the game's first chapter, "The Handshake Protocol". By the way, we're going to give Stugan a go. Stugan is a gamedev accelerator program. If we get chosen, we're going to spend two months in Stockholm working on Bulletin's Kickstarter demo/campaign! https://youtu.be/ANdCUZZ2q_4 old combat system was feature complete but fundamentally boring. i really hate games with boring combat systems so i decided to remake my combat system. you can now do combos n shit and you can swap characters in the middle of a combo. i'm satisfied! in other news, i just got a new job as a game designer. pretty fuckin neato. hopefully this will also clear up some more time to work on the game.

I've had problems porting to 2018, it really fucks things around, but 2017 still gets fixes so it's not worth worrying about.
Oh hey, I remember seeing this game back in the old-punch gamedev general thread! Could I possibly ask how it is coming along?
i took a short break from it. i ran into some personal issues lately (mild depression and the end of a 3yr relationship) and that took a toll on my productivity i'm slowly recovering, though. made some new friends and they've been helping me a lot. i'll keep you guys updated.
keep it up! everything looks great and I definitely plan on playing it when possible, you're doing an awesome job!
