Was still happening even after that but it seems to have fixed itself now.
No one answered to my question yet (at Page 9) I got a problem with the seanims which I don't know how to describe them.
Use this GUI,tick in the Extract SMD refpose box. that works perfectly.
That only exports the ref pose, not the animations.
verify the game files in battle.net launch the game once sometimes, it just crashes, so maybe just try twice.
Dang man figures i try to rip some models on the day of an update lol
Feels bad. Make sure you keep at least 1 backup version of Overwatch if you want to extract data from the game regularly. You can just copy paste the game and the tools will still work. An update for the tools shouldn't be to long.
An updated DataTool has been released. DataTool Version: 1.36.0.817 Release Notes: Added support for Overwatch 1.36.0.1.58155 Toolchain: https://ci.appveyor.com/api/buildjobs/frb6wbfckh07rmvd/artifacts/dist%2Ftoolchain-release.zip Other Artifacts: https://ci.appveyor.com/project/yukimono/owlib/builds/24746076/artifacts Reminder: Ensure Battle.net and Overwatch are closed before attempting to use the tools. If the tools error while still initializing, make sure you run a Scan & Repair in Battle.net and try again before posting an error here. Also: In the event that Facepunch goes down and it doesn't come back (which is looking quite likely) - we have a subreddit on standby that can be used. https://www.reddit.com/r/overtools/ Let us know if there is any issues with extraction or stuff.
hello everyone! still having problems... tankview won't let me extract anything (without giving errors just closing the window and going back to main page) so I updated QuickDataTool and extracted (correctly) all the skins and stuffs.. BUT once imported in Blender I can't convert / export in obj/stl these are the error given back any hint? (older exported models extracted with quickdatatool work perfectly in blender) but not the new ones https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/165007/feea56e2-4546-43c6-a4b8-35cac0ea56f8/image.png
update blender from here
already have the updated version.. still the error.. any idea?
Update the OWM Importer. Link is here. try it out, but before installing it, remove the dots from the name
not sure what dots you talk about, the only dots I see are the extension dots.. can you be more specific pls? I'm a newbie in these things sorry for bothering
I was informed that the animation format in the raw files changed, so here is a fix for those who still use max: https://www.dropbox.com/s/v2w275uarah43x0/OverwatchImportTools_v1.7.rar?dl=0 https://gaming.youtube.com/watch?v=FDSuJRTEGQc&feature=share
blender tends to be picky about dots in the addon zip names, and they need to be replaced with underscores (_) or removed.
Hey everyone, I'm brand new to this model extraction thing, but I figured I'd ask since I want to get some close-up views of certain models. If I want to extract the 3D model of the Talon dropship from the archive events so that I could look at it closer in detail, what programs would I need and where would I need to look for it? I tried looking for some help in the links in the 1st post, but I didn't find anything that was simple enough to understand.
Hi, I've been trying to get Morrison, Reyes and Ana voicelines from the Uprising event, same with Reyes voicelines from Retribution but I can't seem to find them Does anyone know how to extract them?
I stumbled upon a kinda weird error where the SMD skellys get irrationally huge after importing a SEAnim to them, and setting the scaling to disabled does nothing. What can I do? I'll try this with an older SMD / SEAnim importer to see if this issue is present there.
The cause of the SEAnim error was the newer version of the SEAnim importer.
Please help. I tried scan & repair OW, downloaded latest TACTLib and Toolchain. Neither works?? https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/323115/540dde33-ac6e-4b85-9950-32b3883d9361/Untitled.png
Never update Overwatch until there's a new DataTool version.
My fault cos I didn't tick "Never automically apply updates" and I had no clue about the OW backup folder suggestion. Fml.
Not sure if we will get around to making a release for the latest Overwatch version. Updating the tools for new versions of the game takes time and is quite tedious. Only a handful of people are able to do it and we haven't been spending as much time working on Overwatch as of late. So i'm not sure if we'll release an update for 1.36.0.1.58625 but we will definitely do the next major patch which should be next week. As we are spending less time on updating the tools I cannot stress enough the importance of keeping backups. You only need to keep at least 1 version of the game backed up that the tools support and the game isn't really that large.

You only need to keep one backup of the game that the tools work with and the game isn't that large so storage shouldn't be an issue. Before you make a backup make sure you run a Scan & Repair to ensure the game is valid. Does anyone know where I can find the Lúcio DJ animation in the tool https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/318512/adcb2316-00af-4c41-b3c2-885fef146d53/AF82A195-B51B-44CC-8D6C-6E143C72121E.jpeg
I done did a pull request to the importer to make it work on 2.80 again and some other stuff. Tried to split into meaningful commits so accept the ones you guys find acceptable. latest 2.80 compatibility + Material & Armature improvements by .. Also, there's a problem right now which I think was discussed here earlier, where periods should be avoided from being in the addon's folder names. Currently io_scene_owm-2.0.0 in the release, or io_scene_owm-blender-2.80 if downloaded directly, both have at least one . character. It causes the addon to not show up in Blender's addon browser until a user goes into %appdata% and renames it. Could use underscores instead.
In case Facepunch actually dies, I'd point over to the subreddit. https://www.reddit.com/r/overtools
Gotta say. It was fun to boot this extraction. Cya
