Saw on Trello that there is anything left to do, getting excited.
Here's hoping dude, here's hoping.

I'm pretty fucking excited to try this out later. Also, I would recommend changing the thumbnail to a screenshot that's more lit up, so that more people will notice it. A screenshot that would take place at one of these two locations would work: https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/950726709846338655/4B50713F9FFA5879861F680016C228F6C84BC918/?imw=637 https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/950726709846341631/CCACD2590241FB7804AAE50AA437C1262E0BEC65/?imw=637
Yeah it does look a little dark. Didn't think of that, thanks for the heads up
Nah, just give it the good ol' 3kliksphilip and add lens flares.
Make sure you have HDR enabled in your video settings.
Ah, that's probably it.
The map looks nice! https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/113109/44fbe2bc-f5a1-4fbc-afd8-a487d2742b38/20190215162508_1.jpg Just like to point out a shinyness issue though.
No idea why. Looks fine on my end and all I have installed is HL2 (its assets should be included with GMod anyway), GMod, the map and the required textures. Not using any workshop addons either https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/207729/2dfbe599-9d58-4d74-8b77-9d5e8e115bad/20190216004033_1.jpg
Try typing "mat_specular 0" in the console, sometimes that fixes shinig issues.
something about the scale of everything gives me goldsrc vibes
Guess who is not home until tomorrow, dammit. The map looks awesome dude, the reflections of the lights on the road are something else. Great job.
The Max Payne door sounds keep making me think the next room will be full of mobsters. "WHUT DUH?!"
As much as mat_specular 0 might help. I do like my maps being at least slightly shiny. Fishke do you have specular off on your end?
Out of curiosity, where did you get the building textures from? I was trying to look for some good brick building textures on CGTextures for gm_goldencity a while back, but I didn't really find a whole not that suited my needs.
Off the top of my head I think a big part of them came from GTA IV, followed by Mafia 2 then GTA 3 PC's Xbox HD mod. That one had some really good textures like the gritty NYC storefronts. How well does the map run for you guys? Some people in the comments are saying the map runs like shit for them and I must wonder if I either fucked up the optimization or they're just running the game on a potato, because I believe the map is nearly as optimized as it could be (FarZ is at 4800, props have kind of aggressive fade distances, area portals and hints should be doing their job well etc.) I still run on an i7 3770k (with a GTX 1070) from like 2013 and the lowest FPS I ever hit was around 100 without the gmod_mcore_test command which basically doubles my fps, bringing it to around 200 on average. My mat specular was set to 1. I've only tested the map on maxed out settings so I have no idea if running the map on lower settings might break some things.
It seems to be running fine on my end.
blame hundreds of addons installed on their computers

I heard something about mounted games being the issue but I've only got the CS & HL games mounted. (Including Black Mesa). I know the specular isn't missing. It doesn't show up as a missing textures. I just shows up as bright colors primarily pink.
Are you on 64 bit builds?
Ah, I see! Thank you!
OH YES RELEASE
@Fishke This map is just splendid, utterly splendid. I wasn't expecting interirors i had forgotten about them. Genuinly a map I hope goes down in workshop's history, excellent.
Good to hear, gives me some relief haha. Thank you so much. Hope you enjoy playing on it as much as I enjoyed making it
Oh yeah, I noticed that foliage will flicker when you shine a flashlight on it. Although, I get the feeling that it's the tree-sway shader on them that's causing that, and that it's probably not possible to fix it without disabling the shader entirely. Correct me if I'm wrong, though.
Yeah, that's something I noticed as well but that's out of my control
For some reason this level reminds me of a PS1 game called Urban Chaos.
I wonder why...
I love this map, straight up goes to my all time favorites list, the level of detail is outstanding and runs well on my rig. It reminds me of a mix between your previous remake of Mecklenburg, Carcer City from Manhunt and Portland from GTA3. Speaking of Mecklenburg, what easter eggs do you hide this time? So far I've found Dopefish, that Polybius machine, and an apparently secret trigger that I've accidentally found by pressing E on a spooky cat's graffiti on an dark alley. I'm still yet to find what it activates tho. You didn't made another porn room didn't you?
