Has anybody extracted the files for the Mimbanese trooper from Star Wars Pinball? For that matter, has anybody extracted any models from Star Wars Pinball? Thanks!
UV's are kind of screwed. Missing the face textures on the pilots.
Corra_Ashu released some of the models from the Star Wars Pinball FX3 Solo table back on the V4 thread: Star Wars Model Links Thread .V4 "Stay on Target" Mud Trooper AT-DT AT-Hauler Mimbanese Range Trooper Chewbacca Solo
That's what I thought.. but I briefly cross examined my mapping with the browser model and found on some of the small side edges they share the same warped mapping.. Intentional laziness on the authors behalf!? .. Yes I questioned the texture count but pretty sure all of the ships are there.. I ripped this for myself & primarily for the ship.. I'm removing the pilots (not a fan).. But you're welcome for the model anyway! @Servius2 :b
The UV data is just fine. There are no textures for the pilot's faces, just a base geometry color with no UV maps applied. If you view the model on SF you can check all of this through the "Inspect the Model" tab. https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/b-wing-mark-2-resistance-b-wing-e507a02183de46d0bd5b052efcb17dbb

You can provide a model of a dark student with bones. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/428383/0c269e2b-92e6-4114-b59c-ef4b67d4623c/1453241215_starkiller-dark-pupil_1.jpg
Well I have to admit editing this version of the model is a lot easier compared to the fragmented rip via Blender.. not to mention the textures are double the resolution.. ANYHOW.. MOVING ALONG ... Whats the go with the UV mapping on the SWBF1 B-Wing!?.. I've seen a workaround on YouTube for this but with Maya.. something to do with multiple UV ID's??.. the normal map fits fine, though it's half the resolution of the diffuse & has all the individual parts repositioned.. Any explanation/3ds Max mapping pro's out there??... https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/277755/cd3037c9-e2e4-4b33-a1e2-9a0ec6c84731/bwing-UVmapping-issue.jpg
The model uses multiple UV channels to apply the textures. This is the case with all the SWBF (2015) and SWBF2 (2017) models. If you are using 3DS Max you can use the material editor and select the texture map you want to edit. Open the map and look under the "Coordinates" tab, you will see a text box titled "Map Channel: 1". This number indicates the current UV map channel being used for this particular texture map. You can change this number to 2 to apply the texture map to the second UV channel on the model. The problems with using multiple UV channels on models has been discussed at length previously on the forums, most recently by BadHorse here: Star Wars Model Links Thread .V5 "Hive of scum and villainy"
Yes I remember the post but that's using Xnormal.. handy to know but I want the Max workaround.. Thanks, I'll try your instructions once I get my computer back...
@wubba , could you post that version of the SWBF B-wing? I've been looking for it, but all the all the old links are broken.
@Warhammer_81 Can't believe it was that easy, changing it from Channel 1 to 2!.. Going by the Maya tutorial, it looked a little involved so I assumed it would be relatively the same in Max... Awesome stuff!! .. Cheers!!! @palladin B-Wing [SWBF2015]
Yep, it's pretty easy. Unfortunately Cinema 4D (which I use) can't utilize 2 UV channels at once, so I have to rely on rebaking the normals.
So Cinema 4D is your primary 3D app aye?.. Are you most familiar/comfortable with it to anything else or does is it's interface & features offer more compared to others??.. Just curious...
Hi Guys! Just a quick question. Does anybody know how to import BFSW characters into Iclone or Character Creator? I would like to be able to animate them. How do you normally do it?. Any good tutorial? Thanks in advance!!
Looking into it now as may be a potential pipeline for my own project.. I would assume you import via .fbx, but having said that I'll get back to you once I've tinkered as don't know much about iClone.. I assume you are after a mocap solution for animating?..
Hi @wubba . I try to import them via Fbx but Iclone doesn’t accept the skeleton included in the models. i am desperately after a mocap solution for animating!!
Thanks @wubba !!

It's the first 3D program I ever used back in the day, and honestly I haven't tried out many others. I use Blender on occasion for converting files, etc. and sometimes Unreal Engine 4 for tests.

Rendered his models with Vray under his permission.
Excellent job, Angel! You really made these look great! Even though I didn't model them to exacting standards, your materials and lighting make them look like cinema-quality models! Lovely work! To anybody asking questions about the B-Wing pilot textures... it's true, there are no textures for the pilots. I put those guys in there really quickly to be viewed only at a relatively far distance for renders on YouTube, so they're pretty sparse. And anybody who wants the B-wing model (or the Y-wing, T-85 X-wing, Outrider, etc)... I have these models for sale on my Sketchfab account. It'd mean a lot to me if people would download them there, rather than second-hand, as it supports my work and helps me to keep making more designs in the future. Alternatively, if you like my work, you can support me through my Patreon. I don't want to get on anybody's case or police how my work is being used, because I like seeing people using it and adapting it, but if you can afford to support my work... that would be awesome. Thanks!
God damn, your renders are inspiring on so many levels.
Hmmm.. I am sensing that an SF alliance is emerging..(certainly not a bad thing supporting the fellow artist), or should we begin asking EA & Co. permission from to rip & render their ISD's etc from now on!?..
Pretty sure extracting a model is against their terms of service, but they haven't acted on it yet.
Anyone know if the rebaked normal maps for the Battlefront 2 E-5, E-5C, E-5S, and RG-4D were ever uploaded?
Of course it is.. the same with SF, acquiring content the unorthodox approach.. my point is I think it seems uploading ripped content for everyone to download from the site is sensitive ground.. depending on the author maybe?..
They probably wont do if its small scale, wait until someone tries to sell them or make money off them., that's what it will kick off.
I was sure you can't sell even your own model based on studio designs because of copyright infringement and now there are hundreds of models based on popular Sci-Fi media for sale.
Oy turn those into shareable textures. Sexy af.
