[ewwwamac][/ewwwamac] Does this seem macfaggy? I should really be working on a full site, but I'm just sort of making splash pages. The only thing is, if I want it to be simple I'll have to use those rollovers where you assign pixels in an area that are links. Which just seems un professional to me, but I don't want to make them separate images. Because I'm lazy.
Just save the background as a jpg including the seperator, then you can just easily position the 3 other images. Stop being so lazy you lazy.
I'm working on my website at the moment. I've never actually made a website before, though I have used HTML/javascript/CSS, just never put it all into one project. I'd like to hear some criticism, all that I think needs changing is the front page image at the top for a higher contrast, and add in some links on the other pages to jump back to the home page.
Oh didn't see this page... [editline]02:57PM[/editline]
I'm working on my website at the moment. Also. learn CSS rollovers. But overall, not a bad effort.

If you go on there, and press the play button the images change colour. Or would CSS not be able to support this? I'm currently doing all of that in javascript, with the same method as the homepage.
Awww.. :(
oh my god please put something on your site for the love of christ :C [editline]04:40PM[/editline]
Thanks. For click events and stuff use Javascript. You should really use jquery, some people might say it's overkill for such small stuff but it makes everything JS-related a lot easier. As far as your design goes, try to improve the layout and have some visual consistency across the home, blog, music and other pages. This way it looks like separate, individually uninteresting sites. If you're new though, it's pretty nice work.
Made a little twitter bot for DediSRV.
oh my god please put something on your site for the love of christ :C
I'm working on it, just trying to refine the design on it a bit more.
Hey guys, another question. I have a product that I'm going to eventually sell. Do you guys have any suggestions on how to layout the products page and what would be useful information to put on it? For example, any advice on how to put together the features, FAQ, description, comparison with the competition, etc. Here's what it looks like at the moment: www.nullular.com/grapher.php
That's a pretty long page, you might want to vary the align of the images a little, for example 1 is on the left and 2 is on the right.
That's a pretty long page, you might want to vary the align of the images a little, for example 1 is on the left and 2 is on the right.
Right, but I'm asking how I can do a layout so that I can also include a FAQ, a comparison with the competition, and a description on all the same products page.
I'd go with some kind of tabbed pages thing to separate it out a bit better if you've got a whole lot of content. Just make sure the tabs are somewhere they'll easily be seen and that you've got a purchae link on each ofthe pages along with call to action to check out the other tabs integrated with the copy somewhere on each page.
Right, but I'm asking how I can do a layout so that I can also include a FAQ, a comparison with the competition, and a description on all the same products page.
You could always use jQuery to create some sliding sections for each one, that way you won't be taking up so much space.
How about splitting it up into two columns? One smaller one to the right with images that enlarge when you click on them and then you can have the FAQ to the left.
Yeah, I think I'll go for a tabbed layout.
How about splitting it up into two columns? One smaller one to the right with images that enlarge when you click on them and then you can have the FAQ to the left.
Well, I'm already doing that for the features themselves.
Not exactly web develepment, but it's the server that my site is on. For some reason, every file had a duplicate that started with ._ so I made a script to delete all ._*, and .DS_Store and Thumbs.db files and put it in crontab so it'll do it automagically every night.

Mod Outlet registration complete (currently requires email & username, password is sent to email, simple, verifies email). Will, of course, integrate facebook connect & openID however :) And my permissions system is working wonderfully (and tied to IP as well as username and authkey cookies)! Slowly building things up now.

Any tips? That's a rough version by the way. It's going to be hell to get it right with CSS. I'm thinking divide into divs and style the divs individually, the simplest approach possible.
My brother and I have been working on a search engine website. It got submitted on killerstartups.com and we need a few more votes to get on the top10 list. It would be awesome if you guys could help me out and vote for it. http://www.killerstartups.com/Search/split-ly-an-engine-for-executing-split-searches cheers
We heard you the first time
I've started to work on another little project here. Here's the design I'm planning on doing [img_thumb]http://www.jamiesharpe.info//image/img029.jpg[/img_thumb] I'm thinking of putting another little box under the contents for partner websites too. This isn't to scale, the top header box will be narrower than it is in the picture. But I'd like to hear some ideas, or if anything looks a bit off. [editline]04:07PM[/editline] Also regarding CSS, should I be doing the CSS and the HTML at the same time? As right now I make a HTML file, do all the editing to it, adding <style> here and there to get it how I want it to be, then move all the <styles> into a CSS file. Is it a silly way to do it? I'm using np++.
You should use it as a shortURL service for facepunch threads/posts. Make a greasemonkey script to put a button on each post and at the top of each thread to link to the short url. Very useful for FP twitter users.
If he wants to point to my servers, I'd set that up. Threads: facepun.ch/t/245135 Posts: facepun.ch/p/245256
