Why is it ironic that a rails forum uses php?
(User was banned for this post ("Why reply with a huge image when you could have just rated" - verynicelady))
Also, if I made a thread about my custom forums, would it be ignored and laughed at? I'm actually planning on releasing the source code some time later.
No, because you're an active member round these parts and people actually like you. [editline]10:39AM[/editline]
(User was banned for this post ("Why reply with a huge image when you could have just rated" - verynicelady))
I think he felt that a simple box rating wasn't enough to effectively communicate the dumbness of that post
Just finished a quick script which replaces adblocked elements with a donate link with the donation amount linked to the number of visits the user has made. Basically you stick in your paypal address & desired CPI into the script, then whenever an ad gets blocked it's replaced with text saying something along the lines of....
This site relies on advertising to survive but also respects your choice to block internet advertising. Had you been viewing ads whilst viewing this site we would have earned an additional £x.xx [ Click here to donate this amount ]
Where x.xx = (number of pageviews by that user) * (desired CPI). The idea being that if a user who uses adblock visits a site regularly and finds the content useful they will gradually see the counter go up and will eventually say 'fuck it, I'll donate a few quid'. It's 100% clientside so simply needs the script adding to the end of the page or body.onload
That's really nice. Are you gonna release it or is it exclusive to you? :P
That's a pretty fucking awesome idea DEADBEEF :)
Nice.
-snip- Turns out it was floats. My brain is fried today.
Andersonmat told me to post andersonmat to test a feature or something. :derp:
andersonmat = :mmmsmug:
Nice script DEADBEEF, I'll replace my anti-adblocker stuff on AnyHub with this.
Changed name of path. Cached the xml now, so it does not have to redownload it everytime the image is viewed every 2 mins. Cache the png files too. Uses a different font to fit big usernames.
Why is it still ugly. :C
I am working on a good one, that was a quick one I made :P took me 1 min to make.
Pretty much got the layout and back end to how I like now. Still can't make my mind up if I like the placement of the top horizontal break though. Also random Clint Eastwood quotes and a few others.
I don't like how the posts are in their own box with a scrollbar.
If you POST to a page and get cookies back with AJAX, should they get sent in the next GET request? I'd think they should be, but it doesn't appear to work at all.
Portfolio Decided my old design looked like crap, so I spent my night messing around in GIMP until I got something I liked. the Navbar doesnt work yet as I just finished the design, However I wouldnt mind your opinions to see if I have done better this time round. And I remember being told that my sites were too image heavy, so I took your advice and this site only uses 2 images in total.
Project. Gone Just started working on it, it's going to be for a game I'm making right now. It's not much but I used html5, gotta love semantic tags. :)

Especially since it doesn't even scroll with the mousewheel.
Okay, so mousewheel and scrollbar control needs to go on the Todo list then. I'll sort it ASAP.
Rough draft. Text is a little small as well as the content area. Comments and criticism welcome.
[IMG_thumb]http://imgkk.com/i/9z8i.png[/IMG_thumb] Rough draft. Text is a little small as well as the content area. Comments and criticism welcome.
Navigation font is way too small and the glow really doesn't help its readability at all. The whole design just disagrees with for some reason, might want to work on it some more.

Thanks for doing what I did you theif. :v:
Thanks for doing what I did you theif. :v:
Oh crap, now I know why it looks familiar. I least there is no flags on it like you have. :P [editline]10:20PM[/editline] I added a joinable link to the steam images, if I am not in a game it will tell you that I am not in a game; if I am in a game it will launch steam and join the server.
I think he felt that a simple box rating wasn't enough to effectively communicate the dumbness of that post
Definitely did not deserve a ban. :saddowns: [editline]01:22PM[/editline]
Thanks for doing what I did you thief. :v:
:eng101:
I'm trying to get a functional slideshow type page going in dreamweaver, the one they had at school had a sweet template that would've worked great, but now schools over. Are there any tutorials for a webcomic setup?
This is what happens when I try to design. Meh. [editline]01:02AM[/editline] Or am I being pessimistic and it's okay? (It's better than this)
No, you're correct in your presumption.
