Just trying out a neat trick from nettuts: http://torekk.bplaced.net/testing/
Actually, a third border would make it look way more awesome.
Edit: It's also nice that you can't select anything.
Edit2: It was sarcasm.

I'm hoping this part is sarcasm...

That's pretty cool. I tried messing around with the border style and groove looks kinda cool:

Oh yeah, just tried to select the text, that's not really user friendly. Useful for a one off though.
That's why you don't just check the file extension, but also the MIME type. :downs:
Oh lawdy, did I just change the MIME type?

Okay, so basically it's an anonymous text repository. Earlier I had been working this with a number of FTP user accounts with restricted access to hand-made folders on my own directory, with a very "low-fi" feel. Because I've been working on establishing a web presence I decided to learn some fancy PHP, and after making a funky login system I realized that I could recreate and automate this system for public use, much easier since I don't have to friggin' admin anything this way.
So basically, I'm really proud of it because this is really the first time I've seriously messed around with PHP. I'm posting it in this thread as opposed to the website thread because it's still a WIP, though it functions. At the moment it uses way too much header() which makes me sad and the login system seems insecure, but sufficient for what the site is (running only on sessions, no cookies).
How it basically works is you log in, make an account, and then you can create your own customize folder which you can later rename and then upload any .txt file to, and then delete those .txt files from it. A more detailed explanation is on the site.
It'd be great if you guys could offer any advice or tips on it, or hell, even use it, 'cause that's what it's for. :D
edit: wait up just found that the main functionality isn't working adur one sec
editedit: that was stupid it's working now sorry

Well, you can also just use a normal outline on the same element, to create a somewhat nice effect.
@turb_ well, now it's only the question if a browser will run that.
I'm not really creative imo, help D: (or give some suggestionts please)

I suggest you change that before I file a copyright suit.
Same HTML structure on your photos page, extremely similar CSS too.

Adding an FAQ section. I'm using the :target pseudo-element to hide and show the answers.

I was because he did steal my design. I talked to him and he changed it though.
You know you've hit the big time when people start nicking your designs
I didn't /steal/ - I recreated based on yours (and totally forgot about it...)

Derivative works are covered by copyright law, therefore you stole.
Derivative works are covered by copyright law, therefore you stole.
Actually, at least in the US, derivative works are covered by fair use law.
Also, as long as some part of it is original, it's an original work, regardless of derivation.

Explain how people who remix songs as a hobby and then share them around get sued into oblivion.

Hobbyists usually can't afford good lawyers?

They do?
The entire drum and bass/dubstep/etc. scene here in the UK pretty much all derives from a 6-second drum fill from 1969 from a song called "Amen Brother" - it's known as the Amen beat :v: the genres thrive on taking not just remixing original songs but incorporating sometimes completely unedited soundbites from films/TV as well.
How many people have gotten into shit for it? None, at least none I know of.
And most of this music ends up on youtube, usually with links in the description to a download of the original mp3.
That post has lots of incorrect information.
It's know as the amen break not the amen beat. It's hardly ever used in dubstep (I've never heard it in a dubstep tune, but I'm sure someone's done it). There's a lot of jungle tracks that use it, but saying that almost the entire dnb scene uses it is a bit of a stretch.
Not to mention the reason dnb producers get away with it is because as far as the big record companies that would worry about that kind of shit are concerned dnb is way to underground and unrelated to their target audiences to pose a threat to their profits.
There's also a huge difference between sampling (which is what you're talking about) and remixing.
I thought I got into music forum or whatever for a minute, how about you both stop derailing?

There's nothing wrong with following the natural flow of the conversation, if you don't like it then don't read it.

You're aiding the derailing of a thread on that is discussing a completely different topic. Quit it.

Yeah when I got around to looking at it the two looked completely different and I was all :byodood:.
Oh no 5 posts on my favorite internet forum have slightly diverged from the topic set in the thread title!

Naw, I'm pretty sure I'll talk about whatever I want to. If you're upset that a thread on an internet forum has temporarily shifted course in a logical and coherent manner (i.e: we are not suddenly talking about trees for no reason), then you probably ought to find something to do that doesn't involve a computer. Chill out.

Web Design and Development.
Remixing Music.
Just a shot in the dark here but I'm pretty sure they are not related in any way, shape or form.
Then again, I could be wrong.

I find it ironic that this argument about what is 'on topic' and 'off topic' has led to a further thread derailment than it would have otherwise been had we just gone back on topic, but I'm not going to miss an opportunity to chime in.
Your comment is a bit too literal. Someone brought up remixing music as an example of derivative work. Since both Web design, and music (as well as any creative material) are subject to copyright, then yes, there is a common thread between the two. Someone made an analogy to sampling music in remixes in relation to web design, and someone pointed out flaws in said analogy.
Anyway, we could all continue arguing, or get back on topic.

Rated agree. I didn't see where the Remixing part had come from. Just seemed to spawn out of nowhere.
That's why when it says '10 new posts' or whatever, you actually read them rather than skipping to the last page.

I meant historically it's been used a lot, I don't hear the amen beat/break/whatever in a lot of new stuff either, but it pretty much helped kick off the genres. I remember watching/listening to a thing about the history of it on youtube...
But touché, I wanted to sound all smart and cultured but I should probably think before I type :v:
I'm going to go make a website that has a picture of a train going off the tracks now. All interactive and shit. With myself currently driving it.

You didn't take the hint that it was related to the conversation when I said it was a natural progression of the conversation? lol...
