Something that I thought was very distracting in the video was the little dot in the tab constantly flashing. What does it symbolize? Because I would personally get very annoyed by it.
as requested: http://hcide.com/pic4.png, no background and better blending. 500ms is a VERY big delay when writing code concurrently with other people. We achieve an 8/11 ms latency using Beep protocol layers and a factory pattern distribution system that allows plugins to make use of our network layer. Its fast, very fast.
Don't know why but the visual navigator having an eye attacking scrollbar and being on the left side really bothers me.
Probably live editing.
Those were my thoughts too. But it would be better if it was just an icon of an antenna or something.
A lot of people have expressed a want to use it, and we are currently developing some more theme ideas which are as Dylan said will be 'pictured "on the box" so to speak'. If you don't like that theme, the others are literally a click away. Dylan also mentioned we will still update.
I'm well aware that the theme topic has been brought up many times, and this is what I want you to take away from my post: If you ask for criticism, and receive it, it doesn't matter if it contrasts your personal opinion, you need to actually address it instead of blowing it off as "well, some people like it that way". To be clear: My argument is not "change the theme", my argument is "either address criticism or don't ask for it"
Those were my thoughts too. But it would be better if it was just an icon of an antenna or something.
Was done for demo purposes seeing as we are stilling working on file transfers. The blinking light signifies a file being sent via a 3rd party plugin that may take a slightly longer to transfer. Live editing is represented by a green dot that flashes once every 2 seconds or so... (also, only when people are actually typing) With regards to the magnify panel, both layers and hover of the scroll are adjustable via the theme manager, you can even remove it all together if you really wanted.
Does hardcode support multiple compilers?
Does hardcode support multiple compilers?
Short answer, yes :)
Short answer, yes :)
Long answer? Not without plugins?
Long answer?

Dear T3hGamerDK, I hope this post finds you well and in high spirits. I am delighted to inform you that the HardCode Integrated Development Environment will support multiple code compilers. I trust this answers your question, but if you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact me again Yours, CountNoobula
My biggest issue is probably a rare use case.... I HATE my laptop and waiting till fall to replace (I get my discount then) so I do all my coding on my tower. This means I use remote desktop to access tower and code that way. Issue is you are limited to OpenGL 1.1 in remote desktop. Sooo this wont work over RD will it? Also the buttons over text area could stand out a bit more...
Short answer, yes :)
Will it support MSVC out of the box?
Will it support MSVC out of the box?
We are still compiling a list of features for Hardcode and what it will support out of the box, this is not currently planned, however I will bring it up during the next team meeting :)

Just an overdue update to the project, thought I would post this here too. http://www.hcide.com/interactive-demo/ Development is moving along quickly and the new GUI is implemented quite nicely, a lot of refactoring has been done, etc.
The new GUI is really nice, but I ask for just one thing. An easy syntax editor so you can easily create syntax rules for your own/unsupported language in there.
It looks so much better now.
The new GUI is really nice, but I ask for just one thing. An easy syntax editor so you can easily create syntax rules for your own/unsupported language in there.
Will look into it :)
You guys really should support reading .tmLanguage files for syntax highlighting, you'll be able to leverage all of the textmate communities syntax highlighting bundles that way, and there's pretty much one for every even remotely popular language at this point.
We are actively discussing licensing but since we are still so early in the development process, we will see how it goes. We are not set on any decision just yet.
oh dear...
Is there any new news on this? Also is the GUI library a custom one you have made with openGL? Any chance the GUI library could be open sourced?
Is there any new news on this? Also is the GUI library a custom one you have made with openGL? No idea about the GUI library though, it's quite complicated as far as I know, open-sourcing it is also on the table for them to discuss once it's finished and suitable for use in other programs.
By the time new years hits, we might have a release as stated on their twitter! https://twitter.com/HARDCODEIDE/status/282602457056550912
@AlauraLoveless HAHA, no most likely not XD BUUUTTT we will try push for new year : P
Free and good plugin support is the only way this is going to take off. Just look at notepad++ and sublime text. Add a cost to it and you lose the programming school audience, where it's most likely to get popular.
I'll be using it when it's available, I don't see why everyone is so heated about it. Looks like a great IDE.
Seems like a really nice IDE, will probably use it when it's released
