The only think I like is the scrollbar being over a smaller rendered representation of the code file. The rest looks kinda....eye breaking. The damn IDE has some watermark in the middle. IMO this is not how the future will look like lol.

Or you could use Sublime, which isn't an IDE but has that built-in. You could add custom makes, completion and snippets with no sweat, though.
For the devs, will/have you been using hardcode to develop hardcode? I feel like that would blow my mind
Is this project dead?
Any news on when the alpha build will be available? I'm looking forward to trying it out on a full-scale project.

Hi Guys, just checking in to let you know the project is not dead. We are still working hard on it and glad to see the thread is still alive. We are developing a web platform at http://hardcode.io/ so you can go on their and sign up. We plan to integrate that with the IDE and so is a feature we are working on on our way to alpha :)
Hardcode.io is different from most websites in that it is not a site
You guys need to rework the copy on that page, badly
Is it meant to look like this? [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/syTko5b.png[/img_thumb]

Looking forward a alpha/beta :) One thing I'd really love to have, is a Git console (if possible same as git bash) inside the ide with the directory set as the root of the project. So if you want to commit something, just click to open the git console, type type and done. And if possible, allowing to select, copy and paste text. Maybe also have the project file list still open with the console and when you click on a file, it inserts it's path inside the console, so you can just type "git add " then click the file in the project and it would auto complete to "git add folder/sub/foo/bar/long/path/file.ext".

Looks like you have some compatibility issues with both Opera and Internet Explorer, then. Seems to be working fine in both Firefox and Chrome.

From the screenshots from the first post:
because programming is an art
Programming is not an art. A piece of code is not a painting. It's a technical drawing. A technical drawing of the final program. Technical drawings are not pieces of art, they are documentation.
Technical drawings are not pieces of art
Why?
Why?
Because they aren't strictly a form of expression or imagination, they're a specification.
Why?
Because, if you compare tech drawings to pieces of text, they are instruction manuals, not stories or novels.
Because they aren't strictly a form of expression or imagination, they're a specification.
I'd say they're more of an implementation than a specification.
Because, if you compare tech drawings to pieces of text, they are instruction manuals, not stories or novels.
So you're basically saying that they are not art because they are not equal to something you/people consider art. That's like saying bananas aren't fruit because they're not apples. Not saying the analogy goes as far as to say that tech drawings are as obviously art as bananas are fruit. I consider my programming to be a pretty creative activity where I use my skills to translate ideas from my head into code. I might not be doing something innovative but people can still draw a mans face and call it art even though it's been done before. Almost anything you can say about a piece of art, you can pull a parallel with a piece of code. Like, I don't know, elegance, imaginativity...

There's plenty of scope within your choice of program structure, and your implementation of individual algorithms, for qualities that are associated with art such as elegance and expression. If architecture can be classed as art, I would say that programming should be too.
I'd say they're more of an implementation than a specification.
A technical drawing is not an implementation, it's a drawing specifying dimensions, a specification. So basically what you're saying is that the creativity in Mona Lisa was in imagining a smiling woman?
So basically what you're saying is that the creativity in Mona Lisa was in imagining a smiling woman?
No, stop being silly. The creative part was da Vinci deciding how he wanted to use the paints. Please don't bring stupid analogies like that into this though, it's dumb enough as it is.
