I agree with your second observation. It hurts my head
Any release date hints?
Any release date hints?
We will have a beta signup page online shortly. From there we will contact applicants for when we are ready for testers.
Will this have C# support?
We will have a beta signup page online shortly. From there we will contact applicants for when we are ready for testers.
Will that beta signup be visible on your homepage and open to signup. Or is it a closed beta?
Will that beta signup be visible on your homepage and open to signup. Or is it a closed beta?
A link will be visible on our homepage. You are free to signup, we will select testers as needed.

nice, added your page to my statup pages :)
Will this have C# support?
I'm not 100% sure, but I believe the idea is that it will be possible to write extensions or plugins or something that add support for various languages, including C#.
Will this have C# support?
If I'm writing a Vala plugin then surely someone will pick up C#.
Oh god where to start
now let us see here, we have a real-time multi functional IDE with customizable features and theming what can work over multiple languages and has good plugin support and something everybody can use with ease.
I firstly looked through some of the things and to be honest I did not like it... but then I got to the comment section and saw people bitching about things what they do not like [ALL USER INTERFACE ORIENTATED!]... to some of these I agreed to some of them I saw a lack of sense... a large lack of sense.
Currently if we take all of Jookias posts bitching about a list we will fill a page probably, this will be some of those posts what have a large lack of sense... at least there was light at the end of the tunnel seeing as that bitching finally stopped [hopefully] and I thank you for that Jookia... now let us keep this thread on a constructive level and get answers what actually concern this program
Now as to my questions about this IDE [These questions do not relate to me, I am just asking general question what might pop up in the future... no matter how retarded they may end up being]
1. How much resources do you estimate it using in total for a project [Do I need a monster PC] and if it is a recourse whore are there features I can disable to make it more recourse efficient for my terrible desktop.
2. Will it run smoothly or will there be a slight delay / load what I need to wait for, like auto selecting a variable, will it be instant?
3. Seeing as this program will have Customizable themes I will assume I can change my font?
4. Will there be a feature what allows it to Auto Open a Project what I have been working on in my previous session so when I open the program through the default executable it remembers my previous project, and on that note will there be a recently used drop down box for easy access to recent projects. Will it be possible to enable / disable both of these features as I please.
5. The real-time integration... how much of a delay will there be between users. If I input something how long will the delay be between the two computers before the other side registers it on their side
6. Will there be security features on the application what will allow me [MAIN ADMIN] to limit the accessibility of classes / lines to my fellow Coders [SUB ADMIN] so that I will not get anyone coding or replacing something in a location I wish to proceed with by myself.
Now that the questions what come to head are out of mind I would really like to congratulate you on the work you and your team have done so far on this... don't let a bunch of hater comments get you down... this is the internet. Also glad to see the initiative you are taking at such a young age already... really makes a person wonder if age can determine intellect.

1. No, you don't. We cannot give an exact answer yet, although we are using all of our knowledge and ability to have minimal usage of your computer.
2. Refer to previous statement, although no certain answer, at least that sort of feature will be instant.
3. Yes.
4. Yes, yes, yes. If for some reason we decide to not include this, it can easily be added via a plugin.
5. That all depends on your internet connection, although on a 384kbps line, it should be very quick and should take a few ms.
6. Your fellow coders are only allowed to edit the files you share with them through the collaboration feature (or if they get the file through a system such as SVN or FTP).

Mercurial would be fun too
Will this have Git support?
I don't want to be rude, so I am going to try say this nicely. Go to the first post, then go read through till you find a link to the website, then go browse the website till you come across the features (PS: We use drop down menus).
If a feature is not listed, ask about it, that was just our first throw-together of the features we had in mind, we will redo it at a later stage.
Mercurial would be fun too
Or just plugin support so someone could make Mercurial, Git, Bzr, SVN and whatnot integration
Or just plugin support so someone could make Mercurial, Git, Bzr, SVN and whatnot integration
Please read through the posts in the thread. You will find answers to all of that.
I for one, am actually looking forward to checking this out. Hopefully it will be a good editor, but if not maybe I can give some helpful feedback and turn it into a good editor. TBH I think it would be quite cool to look like I'm programming in a movie.

The website just seems to be a single page with a screenshot.
Edit: Oh, after spazzing my mouse around, there's a cryptic drop down menu from what seemed to be a static image - The logo in the top left.
I see you've put on the website that you will 'most likely' be going for a paid license. You go on about how the IDE will be customizable, but why not just make it open source, which would mean unlimited customizability?

Please reread the thread regarding notes regarding to why we don't want to go opensource. Licensing is under heavy review, we are most likely going to release a community edition.
We are not hiding anything, we just don't want all our hard work to be let loose on the internet. We would like to keep the project on track. We may allow branches later.
Just as expansion on this, this was a decision made so we can maintain a high standard of quality as well as a high standard of protocols. We did not want to have a project like Android where too many ROMs came out and it became difficult to control.
As to expand even more, we will be supporting all major opensource operating systems (as well as Windows and Mac) and will upload it to the package managers.
We will keep the HardCode live editing API opensource, the other stuff we will most likely keep closed source.
Open sourcing it won't make it less quality seeing as you still control the project, and people are going to make it fragmented regardless of it's proprietary or not. People will fork your project because they don't agree with management, or the direction you're putting the IDE in. It's your fault if it comes to that, because nobody wants to fork a project.
Look at Linux - There's not really any forks going on, just Linus' tree. Google forked it for Android but they're working to get the changes merged back to Linus' tree.
Emacs was forked to XEmacs, and management didn't want to merge and whatnot, so now they're two projects with different code bases, but they still pretty much merge eachother's changes to keep up to date. I guess that's more of a branch then.
Forking is bad.
It also comes off that you think putting your work on the Internet makes your 'hard work' less valuable or less hard work, even though not putting it out would make it go unnoticed.
I've always had a problem with the term "open source" in that it's not specific enough. There's one-way open source, where you just release your source, and then there's two-way, where you also accept patches to your code (like Mozilla).

Open source is about code, not project management.
I've always had a problem with the term "open source" in that it's not specific enough.
Open source means the source code is available to the public.
That's literally all it means.
If you won't make it open source and have paid licenses, I am never even going on to that website.
We WILL NOT make it opensource, but we will most likely have a community edition (free version), however, for some more advanced features that access the HC server, etc, we will charge, we have to cover the running costs. The licensing is subject to change as it is still under review.

But why not? You can still sell it, it just means the source is open.

What would be the point of buying a software if you can just compile it yourself from the code?
What would be the point of buying a software if you can just compile it yourself from the code?
Support, having the software exist and developed, etc. All the reasons you'd buy software.
But why not? You can still sell it, it just means the source is open.
It's simple: It's our project, we don't want it opensource.
