Are you going to do anything with it, overv? (If you even still come here)

He posted that in the last WAYWO just before it was closed, to help choose highlights for this one.

Oh well, I didn't really see the last posts of the previous thread because I was somewhere else.
Anyways, isn't that a waste of space at the moment?

What the fuck?
Does anybody think they know what's going on here? It's really bothering me
In actual related stuff:
I bought the uplink source code and finally got everything to build, then suddenly
1>LINK : fatal error LNK1104: cannot open file 'eclipse.lib'
LINKER ERRORS ARE WORST ERRORS
I never know what causes them, and I have moved eclipse.lib EVERYWHERE now and added it to every library dependency

Fred Fredburger. Yes.

I just cleaned my keyboard thoroughly, Waywo. Let's just say that now I have to vacuum.
UDK is amazing! This is an ambient fish that moves between 3 nodes randomly.

Oh God clean keys, it feels so good man.

i did that the other day, took out all my keys and vacuumed my keyboard
I kinda wish I could do that, actually. :v:
God damn you physics!
Why you so hard to simulate!
Anyways, decided to switch from numerical, simulational approach to my pressure thing to a more realistic one with particles.
I'm not rendering each particle, just coloring the cell they are placed in based on the number of particles currently in.
It's really slow though... Since I have to push away one particle from another, and have to do that for every particle the complexity is O(n^2). Since the way they are separated in cells directly translates to spatial partitioning (I think) it's way less because they don't have to do the checking for every particle, just the ones near.
It's still horribly slow. Any ideas what else to try?

Have you debugged and made sure the Y position is right?
Have you made sure you're not clearing the previous render on each loop?
Have you tried rendering only the second row of map tiles?
My guess is it's one of the first two.

How many particles are you trying to simulate, and are you aiming for realtime? The speed of your simulation'll depend mainly on the cell size, average particles per cell and number of particles.
I love classes

Gave me the idea of cleaning my keyboard as well after... god knows how long ago
I focused on notepad, here's the text file I created while cleaning!

That cleaning can't have been very thorough, you should clean for atleast 5kb.
It's now possible to simulate ief014's cleaning.
Suppose I'm randomly generating terrain, and I keep a cache of generated points so that when I come to access them later it's much faster than generating the point again. This works great, but the problem is, after you walk for about a minute, the cache starts to get a little big (> 600mb). How should I filter out unused points? Shall I record a timestamp per point whenever it gets accessed, and periodically clean the cache of points older than 30 seconds or so? Or shall I clean out points based on distance from the player?

how do they get THAT dirty
do you just pour doritos and coke on your keyboard and grind them up into a cholesterol smoothie while typing
