Fire up fraps, End up with a 200mb AVI file, drag the AVI file into an encoder, select and fiddle with the encoding settings to ensure the colors are correct and the size is close to what we want it, upload to youtube, wait for the upload to be processed on their end, ensure it's uploaded to the right account, goto the video, open the stupid embedding menu, find the right link, copy paste the link into the forum... yeah... way easier...
Fire up fraps, End up with a 200mb AVI file, drag the AVI file into an encoder, select and fiddle with the encoding settings to ensure the colors are correct and the size is close to what we want it, upload to youtube, wait for the upload to be processed on their end, copy paste the link youtube gives you straight away into the forum. VS Fire up fraps, End up with a 200mb AVI file, drag the AVI file into an encoder, select and fiddle with the encoding settings for fucking ages to try to balance an unreasonable pallet and unreasonable file sizes, upload to image hosting site, wait for the upload to be processed on their end, copy paste the link into the forum. It's pretty much the same processes, but one of them results in on demand videos that don't cost people anything, and the other results in a horrific monstrosity that crashes my tablet when I try to load the page.
Mabie the forum should have a tumblr esque system, where .gif files are replaced by the first frame and when you click it the rest is loaded? always thought that kinda neat
That reminds me of a game I played a while ago, but I can't remember the name. I think it involved fish though..
yeah that fish game on android this is kinda like a top-down version of that ... in a way the idea is: you're a worm in cyber space and you eat other cyber bodies to get bigger while avoiding anti cyber bodies just a quick little game you can pick up an play at any moment - no levels or anything like that
It's.. sadly perfect.. I'm so sad now. It will work.. Animate the rain for more sadness. I am sad now.
Good to see it works. But I won't animate it, as I can't be assed to code it right now. It would consume too much time. Basically all I need to do is add some powerups/powerdowns, tumble when hitting something and and ending.
Like Osmos.
yeah like osmos, i already agreed the first time not to bash osmos or anything, but the trailers make it look really ... boring ? i dunno, doesn't look like a worthy $2.99 game, it seems too bland and slow paced (and it has levels?) i'm picturing more of a constant-action, faced paced, endless arena with complex AI
Exclusive beta for you guys <3 Hit Spacebar to gain speed and use the arrow keys to go up and down. You should download it from the humble indie bundle here: (User was banned for this post ("Warez." - Seiteki))
All these games are just a copy of XGenStudio's Fishy.
i'm picturing more of a constant-action, faced paced, endless arena with complex AI
Just the kind of game you'd whip out on your phone and play, right?
Just the kind of game you'd whip out on your phone and play, right?
yeah, why not? combined with a simple enough control scheme (hold finger down to move), sounds good to me. what are your views?
-wrong thread-
Quite the contrary, Osmos can be both slow, relaxing, thoughful and fast paced, actiony, dangerous.
what are your views?
I was getting at the whole 'people like dumb things to do idly'.
I was getting at the whole 'people like dumb things to do idly'.
... holding down your finger to move a bug to eat all the smaller things would count as a dumb thing to do idly, no?
Really? Why would you say good things about the game then give everyone a handy link to pirate it
It's like this: People will download it, play it, and when they really like it, they buy it. If they still don't buy it after playing it, they clearly didn't enjoy it enough and wouldn't have bought it anyways. This is almost always the case. [editline]13th November 2011[/editline] My introscreen. If someone is adamant on pirating it, they will go through the trouble to do it themselves. I find it disturbing that you would post that in a thread were indie games are constantly being developed and discussed.
Just found out about manipulators It's just an operator function that takes a function pointer that it then calls. [cpp] Console& operator<<(Console&(*function)(Console&)) { return ((*function)(*this)); } static Console& endl(Console& console) { console.Output("\n"); return console; } ... console << "blah blah" << Console::endl; [/cpp] Atleast that's what I think they are, correct me if I'm wrong. Pretty neat.

I'm probably the worst person to explain anything but I'll give it a go. I assume you don't know about operator overloading? I already have a templated operator overload so I made an operator overload that takes a function pointer with a Console& return type so I can keep streaming in after Console::endl. It also has a Console& argument because it's a static function and I need to call a non-static function to output the "\n" The operator overload simply calls the function pointer passed in. So when I do console << Console::endl It's just passing the right hand side object into the operator overload function.
How many minutes of my life did I just waste waiting for something to happen? 10-15 You have accomplished your purpose in life, sir.
