[QUOTE=Kamshak;33260330]is there a facepunch programmers irc? if not someone should make one[/QUOTE]
There is, but as far as I know even Luahelp has more content
[editline]13th November 2011[/editline]
In fact, I believe #solace-dev had more content back when we were "developing" and even that mostly consisted of the bot spewing out commit data

I dont think you could even call what we did there developing :v:
We never really got anywhere.
what's solace?

Oh and there was a blank window too

How many weeks did that blank window take us? :v:
Little project I just started to work on.
If the planets align then it's going to become a space station game, otherwise it's practice in SDL.net.

It's some really awesome projects you people are working on! A lot of you are very skilled.
I am working on a browser based hacker mmo game: [video=youtube;rkzHhyeBmvc]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rkzHhyeBmvc[/video]
Since that first bit of code took quite a while I decided to take a break and work on a map with graphics.
All of this is 8/8 programmer art right now,

Just got my new rig set up and XNA is being a pussy bitch because it can't or won't accept my 5.1 surround sound... I hate new stuff.
Oh god, I didn't mean for this to be at the top of a page... I suppose I'll have to post some content soon then :(
I'm going to ask , is it allowed to post pseudo-programming (ie. construct , mmf2 , game maker )
I'm done with my jam entry.

Now, time for something that isn't working on this.
Reverse-engineering the file formats of Project Eden (Core Design / Eidos, 2001).

Meanwhile, I am attempting to do something with the PAK files of Mace Griffin: Bounty Hunter (some sort-of good Halo clone from 2003)
Am I doing it right?

Dang. You're really good with game maker. I wouldn't be able to tell that it was made with GM if that loading bar wasn't there.
If octave / matlab programmiing counts, working on a Machine learning neural network digit recognition setup (Stanford uni online free course) so far the last one I did can recognize these fine:

As long as that chickenscratch is similar to itself each time, and I had a large enough training set I could
So, I've finally found reason to visit this side of the forums
Basically, I was talking to a programmer friend of mine, and I mentioned that I was relatively uninspired for college in a couple years. He suggested programming, citing it's a very expansive and increasingly important profession.
I've always wanted to do something with computers, but never had the drive. I downloaded Google's Python school a few months ago and never got into it. However, on vacation I bought a book by Lutz that's over 1100 pages, and I'm hooked.
I haven't delved into any programming physically yet, but the theory behind it is FASCINATING! The book is a few years old, but the part about other compilers such as Jython is very intriguing. The most interesting part was how they're developing a technique to convert byte-code to machine code to get C++ caliber speeds, but I'm sure a lot of you folks know about that far more than I do.
Anyway, tl;dr, I think I may be genuinely interested in Python, and I'm really excited for the future.

I fondly remember that game. Had a good co-op campaign before such a thing became common.
Another school assignment; emergent behavior.

You can maximize it to increase the sorta small simulation real estate.

Wow your school rocks. Mind if I ask what school/program?
The teacher of this class is pretty cool, but the school itself isn't anything special. Macon State College if you still want to know. I'm mostly going there to get all those standard classes out of the way for cheap.
Well I completed the neural network learning excersize in time, and generated a nice image of the hidden layer of a neural net to recognize numbers:
Hidden Layer [img_thumb]http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u281/nekosune1/hiddenlayer.jpg[/img_thumb]
If you look at it each cell has some aspect of a digit.
Final Layer: [img_thumb]http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u281/nekosune1/finallayer.jpg[/img_thumb]
Note each of the 10 outputs is 25*25 picture
The darker the pixel, the more confidence it has in a cell from the hiddenlayer picture
it goes
1 2 3 4
5 6 7 8
9 0
for the final layer
I still been working on graphics and mapping for my game, I should start on gameplay at some point in time though.

I made a little animation builder thing using tiles.

It's much smoother than it looks in the video when playing, Fraps fucked it up a bit.

All I see are blurred coffee beans.
The productivity that comes from adding a new wing to my space station map is by no means a productive way of working on the game it's for, I could of done just fine with one wing, the issue is I have a map editor and I was going to do it sooner or later.
I figured it was time for a change. So I moved up from a procedural language(C) to an OOP language(C++, then C#). It was a massive failure. SO I just played around with php since it's fairly simple and the OOP implementation isn't super magically mystical, and wrote my very first class without relying on some text to read.
It creates a socket in a constructor and has a Ping and pong method that will ping a server that I wrote(in C) and waits for a reply.
Man, I created two instances of the socket class and instantly realized "omfg, in C I have to make a hash table to do this very same thing" and raged for a couple hours.
