except it is a bad thing because we're rapidly approaching the point where we run out of ipv4 addresses, and ipv6 still isn't commonplace
yeah, but that wasn't really the issue I was vaguely trying to discuss. We do need to switch to ipv6 as soon as possible, though, yeah.
I'm just saying that a thermostat having an IP isn't a terrible idea and there's certainly valid uses for them having one.
My father has found his old Atari in the attic. He and my older brother are now attempting to recreate Pong.
I'm going to attempt to build a destruction engine.
argh, apple's iphone configuration utility just randomly decided to not run anymore. even after a clean reinstallation of everything apple-related on my computer
I was bored, so I made a particle system in C# + XNA.

Do you think I could see the source? I'd love to improve my own particle engine (Java2D, sprite-based) if I can find a way to produce something similar for Java2D. The first step is having a working copy to work from that I've seen in action.
Do you have scaling? How does it translate to the child?
as of now, no, there's no scaling, but in a few minutes i'll have it done.
i think i'll have the child scale relative to the parent, the same way it moves and rotates.
i assume you're asking me how it scales because you're wondering if scaling the parent scales the amount of relative translation and rotation the child will take on, but it wont. scaling the parent will scale the parent and the child node(s) but none of them will move from their position.

You just have to accept that the gradient tool outclasses human endeavour in every conceivable situation.

that is kinda pretty though

better artistic synergy than the older one
FINALLY fixed the iphone configuration utility
after an hour of digging for some sort of log, i found one deeply rooted in C:\documents and settings\null\local settings\application data\iphone configuration utility
then google came up with six (6) ... yes, only SIX results ... where only two (2) were related to apple. the first link was some obscure thread on the apple support forums and the very last post contained a fix
oh boy, what an adventure
As a helpful reminder, you can't just slap a nice gradient on something and call it artistic. The design as a whole must be thought out and come together to form something visually pleasing.
I think I just turned programmers chat into a massive shithole.
