I'm currently messing around with.. I don't know what it is really. Fractals, I guess?
Basically, it goes something like this:
1. Start with a primitive shape.
2. Find the convex hull.
3. For each line in that hull, draw the shape.
4. Find the convex hull of those shapes.
5. Goto 3

Am I the only one seeing a face in that? :tinfoil:
Wondering if I should feel guilty for copying and pasting a bunch of Amarok's last.fm code to use for my music player. I made some adjustments; i.e. variable names and other stuff I don't need which is specific to Amarok.
I've spent days trying to get it to work even with just studying Amarok's code, but copying and pasting finally got it working.
Still needs a bit more work, and by that I mean copying and pasting.

Moral of the story: Open source rocks. And it's even cooler that I don't need to worry about stealing GPL code because my program is already GPL'd.
That's what open source is for ;)

Still need to include an acknowledgement, don't forget.

Yeah, if I made my program closed source I'd have to figure out how I'm going to get away with stealing GPL code. :v:
Stallman would eat me for breakfast.

When he was done eating stuff off of his feet :v:
I've been wanting to learn Ajax for a long time, and now I don't know what to do with it.
Damn.
I'm finished with the Pixel Shader Testing Suite I made for my next game Arcane, Stealth & Power.
The nice programming people here could test it and report the results after running the stress test (average FPS will do) and if any graphical malforming happens.

http://upload.namelezz.net/downloader.php?file=8395918_ASP_PixelShaderTest.rar
And I stress again, this is made in Construct like I've told you.
In the end this will be made part of the installer program of the game.
I never knew people still used Construct. I could never find any tutorials on how to use it.
The main reason I am using it is because it lets me focus on the actual gameplay instead of pondering how to achieve that gameplay. I can whip out test levels in seconds and even the hardest of coding is only a handful of math away.
...and then there's the visual rewards. Fake DOF, nice HDR, neat glow effects and particle systems. Even destructible terrain if you like it that way.
Yeah, that's why I loved Construct. Are the forums still popular and have more tutorials?

Tried it out, full 60FPS on an 8800GT 512Mb.

I like it that way
Yes the forums are full of people and the devs themselves help everyone out. There's a tutorial section now for it as well.

Here's a shot of the test itself in case you are wondering about it. Distant objects are blurred and put into the background making a neat effect - there's also the Wizard Ultimate Spell "Essence of Fire" being casted. It's one of the most powerful spells in the game.

Well there go the credible testing results :frown: Was that a spike or a constant effect?
Well there go the credible testing results :frown: Was that a spike or a constant effect?
Constant, if not for a couple of fps.
Well it's not that bad. I'm not sure of the maximum amount anyway. I need more testers though, a picture of someone without good pixel shader support and the test result FPS would rock.
Anyone with a not-so-good computer or a top-of-the-notch one download the suite and try it. Trust me, you're helping a lot.

So, anyone with a computer?
Also, I've never seen anyone use that redirectingat thing directly...
And I assume these all are with Pixel Shader 3.0 and up? I need some people with integrated / old graphics cards to test it so I can base out if my Yamarian Nights level is way too heavy for old computers.

Sorry, I snatched the URL out of a quote to the new page.
I have a Radeon X1800 Series and 2GB of Ram.
Yes, I believe you that you don't have a new computer. The game has visual effects that are designed to midrange computers anyway - it's still just a pixel art game. The point is to try and find the not-so-lucky ones whose FPS is at the rock bottom who can't pay for the newest graphics cards.
I guess I posted this at the wrong place!

You could always remove your graphics card.
Possible. Construct lets me test without pixel shaders though so it's no problem - seems like the mainstream DOES have pixel shader 2.0 and up. My experiment is complete.

I need to figure out how to add a close option or a way to make it fade out after some time, but I don't know how to do that in Ajax or jQuery.
Namelezz! - I was getting 60fps out of 60fps for the whole of it and I am running;
Q6600 2.4ghx
4gig of 800mhz ram
4850 1gig ati
Hope this helps :)

You need to have vsync disabled to go over 60 fps, probably forced from the driver settings. That's assuming of course that it's calculating some kind of an average and not a sum?
You could always remove your graphics card.
Where did you plan to plug the monitor cable then?

It doesn't seem to be verifying the password correctly.
