When 2 enemies get too close they repel by subtracting their position vectors.

It's unreal engine 3 which is used via unreal script.
There is nothing misleading about it. Games which use the unreal engine use unreal script.

It's a release of the UE3 runtimes. It's like any other UE3 licensed except you don't get the source, I think.

And even if you had a full license you would be working 99% in unreal script. You don't use C++ to make games with the unreal engine as far as I am aware.
Just look at the example game, it's made with the UDK and I can't think of a total conversion that's less like the original (UT3 in this case).
Got my new computer, it is very, very nice :D Took me a while to realise that it had an adaptor for the screen. The keyboard driver came on a floppy?!?!

Anyway, that driver disk is probably for systems so old they actually do need a keyboard driver.

Depends on what kind of Half Life 2 mod you're going to make and how much experience you have with making mods. Making a mod like Garry's Mod would take a long time if you haven't had that much experience, since you'd need to make a good physics engine and other features.

You don't have to make a physics engine for a Source mod, I don't know if you noticed, but Source already has a physics engine.
