What are you working on? V4 (HTML ISN'T PROGRAMMING)
I thank people for the useful bug reports and fix the bugs. I ignore and/or delete the people who post useless "bug reports." I didn't ask for a bug report.
You need to learn to word your criticism better. If you wrote, "your reflections don't look quite right to me, is there any attenuation going on?" I would've taken it constructively and said "nope, I need to add attenuation." But instead, you give me a whole explanation on how reflections decay and blah blah as if I have no idea what I'm doing and asked you for help.
Yeah WHAT THE FUCK WAS HE THINKING. HOW DARE HE TRY TO HELP YOU
HONESTLY THE NERVE OF THAT GUY

Who the fuck do you think you are dropping in like that, helping with the argument? Nobody asked for your damn opinion on this shit.

Well, your tracer broke the emission rule. You would rather I had not pointed this out? Constructive criticism is supposed to offer solutions instead of just whining about it being broken, which I was at least trying to produce. I can't see your code, so am I supposed to assume that you knew all there is about everything in the physics of light?

You're being sarcastic but I'm not. I didn't ask for help. If something doesn't look right, he can tell me, and I'll respond nicely because that would be constructive. When he adds a whole explanation, and gives me suggestions on what to do, then we have a problem.

There's no such thing as an "emission rule." My ray tracer cannot break a rule that doesn't exist.
If I was going for photo-realistic lighting, I would've written a path tracer or a photon tracer.
I didn't ask for your help.

Well that's the most ridiculous thing I've heard all week :sigh:

If I wanted help, I'd ask for it. That's what annoys me, people giving their advice when advice is not asked for. Stop trying to act so nice and innocent and stop arguing.

I didn't ask for you to reply to my post! What the fuck gives you the right to quote me!?
Common sense aside; It's an Internet forum - stop being an asshole and deal with it. Do you think it's coincidence that nearly every time there's an argument in this subforum, you're somehow central to it?

The forum asks you to reply, that's why I replied.
The user asks you to advise, that's why you advise.
Stop arguing for the sake of arguing, you know I'm right.

Actually I probably speak for all of the sensible portion of this forum when I say I believe you're completely wrong.
If anyone else thinks my idea of common sense is off on this one, please say so and I'll drop it right away.

Why do you keep arguing? If you think I'm so wrong you wouldn't waste time trying to prove me wrong, so stop it. I'm right about the unwanted advice and you know it.
If you think I'm so wrong you wouldn't waste time trying to prove me wrong, so stop it.
I can't follow your logic here.
Why do you keep arguing?
Because I can? Besides, I wouldn't have anything to reply to if you stopped as well.
If you think I'm so wrong you wouldn't waste time trying to prove me wrong, so stop it.
Sadly enough, I've nothing better to do right now than expressing my disgust when someone is being a total asshole for no reason.
and you know it.
Really, you can stop trying to speak for me. I've said again and again that I disagree. If I didn't disagree, why would I bother posting?
Stop arguing for the sake of arguing, you know I'm right.
I am sick and tired of having to scroll past your endless teenage moaning and drama queen antics to see what the other extremely talented people in this thread are doing.
There are many people who are really enjoying the things they are making and get not only a morale boost but really useful feedback on their projects. Your shit-posting every 15 minutes takes away from their achievement because people are having to spend time arguing with you about things that don't matter instead of talking about all the great work that's going on here.
Please either post something useful and be prepared to take criticism or don't post at all. Nobody is really interested in anything else you have to say.
It's always disappointing when there are new posts in this thread and you click it and it's just a stupid argument.
Edit: I'm slow...
Kid needs to put down the C++ book and pick up a anger management book.
When he adds a whole explanation, and gives me suggestions on what to do, then we have a problem.
You know why? Because if he gives you help, you see that as him doubting your abilities.
Anyways, I'm currently trying to get the UDK working.

Yeah, I feel kinda bad fueling the fire here, but while we're certainly adding to the garbage in this thread right now, there's really nothing else going on. I wouldn't be posting about this if anyone was actively discussing or commenting on something else.
You know why? Because if he gives you help, you see that as him doubting your abilities.
You're going to have a really hard time if you're trying to prove to him that he's insecure...
Please either post something useful
Out of all of the idiots that are arguing right now, I'm the only one that actually posts content. I wouldn't arguing if these idiots didn't decided to hop the anti-me bandwagon every time I post something. On the other hand, everyone who's actually posted something useful (those "extremely talented" people you're speaking of) isn't arguing with me, and I'm not arguing with them. Now shut up.
What are you working on? V4 (DONT ACTUALLY POST WHAT YOU'RE WORKING ON JUST ARGUE)
You know why? Because if he gives you help, you see that as him doubting your abilities.
Exactly.

The more you reply, the more you prove my point.

No, the emission rule is a real thing. It comes from black-body radiation, and ties in very heavily with ray-tracing.
The emitted energy of a point on a surface (its emission) is equal to its radiant energy + reflected energy. The reflected energy is the sum of all the energy incoming to that point - the amount that is absorbed. By making your material perfectly reflective as well as having diffuse and specular components, suddenly your material is emitting more energy than is coming in. That's how it was breaking physics and the emission rule.

What are you working on? V4 ( NULLSQUARED AND OTHERS POST USEFUL CONTENT, IDIOTS ARGUE WITH NULL EVERY TIME HE POSTS SOMETHING)

You must've missed the 4 pages ago, when it was everyone against me, when I said and still believe IDEs condone bad coding practice.

At least you had a case. He's arguing because someone threw out a piece of advice when it wasn't explicitly asked for.

What's your point? Pretty much everything in graphics breaks real-life rules. And like I said, if I was shooting for realism, I wouldn't be writing a ray tracer, I'd be writing a path tracer or photon tracer. Your argument is completely useless considering that I specifically said the reflection coefficient is 1 (OMG BREAKING REAL-LIFE RULES, NOOOO)

Saying you're writing a paper on the math of raytracers isn't really helpful to me. Someone pointing out a error in your raytracer is helpful to you.
