What came out in 1998? C++ has been around since the early 80's.
And newer != better. I would hope that we would have established this.

I'm not native english, so you'll have to live with the grammatical mistakes once in a while. In that case, it's not a superset.

but C++ is more popular
Honestly, it does not matter in the slightest. When I started learning C++ I stuck to those tutorials, and when I went to look at C I saw very little difference other than a some missing features. You will learn in time the differences between C and C++, but for now just do whatever.
