I might be able to release a useable version of the app within a few days.

How did you do that? Did you port OpenSteamWorks to android, run a server elsewhere, or something else?

Steamkit2 by Voided and some other guys.

The app will be free for android, right? If not, I probably wouldn't mind paying $0.99 or something

I doubt Valve would care that much about the reverse engineering, Valve seems more like a company that would offer a job for that instead of suing. Making a profit off something that Valve probably has patented or at least copyrighted would raise a red flag, and even then it'll just be to protect their IP.

The app will be completely free.

Is it open source? (I know SteamRE is)

I'm way to paranoid to give my account/password to any other site except Steam. Sorry, Azzy. :( Really awesome job though! It would be incredible if this would just use Voided's libraries clientside so it would be completely stand-alone.

How's the progress on the Android app?

You'd need Steam Guard to change your password/login else where anyway

-Out of date- It is in a semi-useable state. You can send and receive messages but is still buggy. Known bugs: Doesn't autoscroll to bottom in chat view when opened. The autoscroll to bottom when you receive a message does not properly work on multiline text. OK button on the on-screen keyboard does not send message/login, you have to use the actual buttons. The message notification is also temporary.

I have a massive friends list (100 or so), and when it says Retrieving server info it just freezes up and closes after a bit. It works on my account with 5 friends. Workaround: Log in on the Steam website from a web browser you do not use / install a new one temporarily.

It forcecloses at "Retrieving server info", and if it gets past that, about 10-15 seconds after the loading. [editline]16th August 2011[/editline] Also, every time I use the app I need to input the Steam Guard code.
