I don't think you quite get it, anyone who is running the server could log all the data (read: usernames and passwords) that are passed through the server if they wanted. So letting the first guy who asks host the server might be a not good idea.
Er, Im saying so what if he has a background in webdev. Anyone could and easily steal their password.

Guess you could say he has a reputation and the people using this trust him not to steal their account details.

For all you know he could have your account details, :v:
I understand that you guys don't trust me, as I haven't proven my own trustworthyness, but how else am I going to, if you never give me a chance?
You need to build your reputation, nobody wants to just trust somebody with their Steam account. Especially when you have the potential to steal thousands of users passwords. Even with Steam Guard I don't want anyone knowing my passwords, most users have universal password (even I have one I use for most), so you could really cause damage.
Again, it's not that we don't trust you, we just don't want to get fucked over.

Well, while I don't post in webdev very often, I am trusted outside of it by a few people. I mostly lurk though, so I don't personally know very many people. I do understand everyone's concern though, but I'm just trying to help out, since I personally like Pocket Steam myself. I'd hate to see it disappear, since I've actually wanted something like this for a long time.
Cool app. Thanks for making it!
pocket steam is not responding when i try to log in
iOS 5 now allow's for scrolling, but I'm still not receiving any messages back, desktop or iOS.
Damn, don't let the project die. http://123com.org/servers/vps has some good servers. I got a small 96MB VPS from them to use as a SOCKS4 proxy.
Would it be possible to host it on Dropbox like I do?

It's just my custom homepage but it'd be the same concept, wouldn't it? :S

There is most likely much more happening behind the scenes besides the loading of an HTML webpage.
I'd be able to host it if you want, I'm really interested in using this for myself and obviously anyone else that knows of the link.
Edit: Well that was an interesting venture. I think I realize why it's such a pain in the ass to host now.
must not die D:
Seems like a very nice application. Will be very useful for my modding as moderators tend to bicker on me for not getting on Steam(runs slow on my laptop) :v:
Edit:
Not responding though.

https://imo.im/ has steam support and afaik so does Pidgin(dunno if pidgin has mobile port, though)
Imo is really nice. There's an iOS app for it too. :)
is it working?
Works for me
When can I expect a release for the Android OS?
[editline]16th November 2011[/editline]
A beta I mean.
OP when are you gonna finish the Android version? I recently got the Droid Razr and want to use this
Like I said, i'm pretty sure imo.im works, I think he decided to quit working on this
Like I said, i'm pretty sure imo.im works, I think he decided to quit working on this
imo.im's android application doesn't support this

I know but they have a website
I know but they have a website
I don't want to use a website, I want a native application
The website fully supports Steam Chat, and it looks pretty nice too. It has an iOS App too.
